The SOFIA project aims to make physical world information available for smart services. It involves 9 large companies, 4 SMEs, and 6 research institutions collaborating across multiple domains using a common interoperability platform. This will lower costs and introduce new applications for embedded systems. Key technologies include Smart-M3 for cross-domain semantic interoperability and an application development kit. Use cases demonstrate how music and messages can seamlessly follow a user across devices using this infrastructure.
VENTURI is a collaborative European project targeting the shortcomings of current Augmented Reality design; bringing together the forces of mobile platform manufacturers, technology providers, content creators, and researchers in the field.
VENTURI aims to place engaging, innovative and useful mixed reality experiences into the hands of ordinary people, by co-evolving next generation AR platforms and algorithms.
VENTURI plans to create a seamless and optimal user experience through a thorough analysis and evolution of the AR technology chain, spanning device hardware capabilities to user satisfaction.

This is the third part of a Future Internet Tutorial presented at IWT 2011. See: www.inatel.br/iwt
The Internet has invaded most aspects of life and society, changing our lifestyle, work, communication and social interaction and giving us expectations about new forms of interactions and access to global knowledge. Application and user demands on the Internet are increasing with mobile technologies and media content. Nevertheless, the Internet today is a complex agglomerate of protocols that inherits the grown legacies of decades of patchwork solutions.
There is a common consensus that the Internet needs improvement. Nevertheless, there is not yet a shared vision on how this may happen. As a direct consequence research programs have started worldwide to re-think traditional Internet design principles and to come up with new architectural concepts for the so-called Future Internet (FI).
The Future Internet Tutorial provides an overview of Future Internet research directions and trends. It presents the Future Internet research initiatives around the world and the efforts to establish experimental facilities for FI research. The tutorial gives an introduction to new Future Internet architectures that are currently under discussion and related technologies. Among the approaches discussed are addressing and routing concepts, adaptability, autonomicity, self-*, *-aware and manageability, virtualization, neutrality, openness, diversity, extendibility, flexibility and evolvability. The tutorial also presents some interdisciplinary aspects related to artificial general intelligence and bio-inspired ICT.

Title: How Changing Mobile and Media Technologies is Changing The Way We Create Innovations
According to Schumpeter's definition of "Innovation," all the innovation instances are combinations of technologies that already exist. In that context, this talk covers the combination of progress of mobile network technologies and media understanding technologies. When the first mobile phones of 2nd Generation came out, people thought it was only for speech communication and texting. Then the phones got cameras, GPS. accelerometers, near filed communication devices together with fat communication pipes, people in all walks of life started using mobile phones in various opportunities. It is noteworthy that the progress of media understanding applications remarkably creates big data in a way of virtuous cycle by service and technology developments. This talk also highlights big-data driven service developments and API strategies for mobile innovations as well as technologies.
