Virtual worlds are not the territory

Urban hub 20 : Accelerating City Change in a VUCA World - Thriveable CitiesPaul van Schaık
“This is a truly brilliant and much needed presentation. The author has brought together an extremely intelligent group of writers and thinkers to apply Integral principles to the problems and creative openings of city, regions, ecosystems, and the biosphere itself. Each one of these areas is treated as a living, complex, integral system, and the ways that they all mutually interact are fully explored, with the added benefit that they are all looked through an integral lens, insuring that a fully whole and complete path is taken. There is really no other approach like this available, and certainly none that give as full and comprehensive and inclusive an account. I can’t recommend this approach more highly, it truly touches a level of genius.” Ken Wilber—Sex, Ecology, Spirituality; The Integral Vision

Urban Hub 26 Cities, People & Climate Change - Thriveable WorldsPaul van Schaık

Too little courage and we will fail – too much certainty and we will fail. But with care and collaboration we have a chance of bringing forth emergent impacts through innovation, syngeneic enfoldment & collaborative effort.
A deeper understanding of a broader framework will be required – this would be more that an integral vision and beyond the Eurocentric AQAL & SDI.

Open communities of innovation pioneers: the Musigen case studyGiuseppe Naccarato
We call innovation pioneers the experts in a scientific or technical domain in the early stages
of its development. Advances in information technologies allow networks of organizations
and individuals to exchange ideas and knowledge. Not differently from what has happened in
communities of consumers with the emergence of the so called prosumers, ICT can support
communities of innovation pioneers.
However, the role of IT in this domain has not been studied extensively in the management
literature. Understanding the dynamics of communities of innovation pioneers, instead, can
provide companies with precious knowledge on future breakthrough innovations.
This paper means to deepen our understanding of communities of innovation pioneers and the
role of IT in supporting them.
To achieve this goal, we investigate the case of Musigen, a new web platform with the
purpose to support knowledge sharing in the generative music field.
Quantum computing is a new technology using which it may be possible to discover new knowledge that are too difficult for even super computers. This research proposal involves understanding thought processes, consciousness, individual perception and societal development.
Reflection on Humanism, Citizenship, and the Digital Society (from Theory to ...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT:We do not intend to deal exhaustively with this subject, because it is broad and complex for the space of a
text. Our pretensions, which are much more modest, refer to documentary research for the understanding and development of
humanist thought and citizenship, and some of their multiple relationships.
Humanism was a movement that emerged in Italy during the Renaissance. It marked a move away from the medieval
emphasis on logic and theology, and led to the rediscovery of ancient texts, the advancement of scholarship, and the
transformation of art, culture, and society. The article analyzes the central ideas of Humanism, such as the importance of
human dignity, individuality and learning, and demonstrates how they have influenced various domains. Humanism is a key
concept in the history of human thought. There are several definitions of the concept ranging from rhetorical humanism, to the Christian
humanism of the Middle Ages, and from the literary humanism of the Renaissance, to the humanism of Compte. There are several
approaches to the relationship between humanism and religion.
Humanism in the age of globalization may be an elaborate form of humanism capable of crossing the boundaries between
the world's civilizations and overthrowing their hostile ways. Intercultural humanism must evolve as a result of the global
debate. Intercultural humanism can replace the current humanism, and thus confront and overcome the many tensions and
conflicts that exist between the world's divergent civilizations.

Models and Concepts for Socio-technical Complex Systems: Towards Fractal Soci...Vincenzo De Florio
We introduce fractal social organizations—a novel class of socio-technical complex systems characterized
by a distributed, bio-inspired, hierarchical architecture. Based on a same building block that is recursively
applied at different layers, said systems provide a homogeneous way to model collective behaviors of
different complexity and scale. Key concepts and principles are enunciated by means of a case study and a
simple formalism. As preliminary evidence of the adequacy of the assumptions underlying our systems here
we define and study an algebraic model for a simple class of social organizations. We show how despite its
generic formulation, geometric representations of said model exhibit the spontaneous emergence of complex
hierarchical and modular patterns characterized by structured addition of complexity and fractal nature—
which closely correspond to the distinctive architectural traits of our fractal social organizations. Some
reflections on the significance of these results and a view to the next steps of our research conclude this
contribution.
Billion Dollar Proposal for Applied Cultural EvolutionJoe Brewer
Let me begin by acknowledging those who came before me. The runner-up for a 1 billion euro grant from the European Union nearly a decade ago was FuturICT with their vision for modeling complex social systems to avoid (or manage) future economic collapses. So I am not the first person to propose that a massive effort is needed to (a) integrate the social sciences; and (b) do so with motivation to apply what is learned to address extremely difficult problems in the world. With that said, let me now offer my billion dollar proposal that follows in FuturICT’s footsteps. At the time they were competing for substantial funding, I was working with the International Centre for Earth Simulation to build its billion dollar (over a decade) vision for a high-performance computing facility that models the entire Earth in its full complexity. It is from these projects that I draw inspiration for this essay.
Also, a fact that should cause you to sit up straight. The annual budget for CERN (the high-energy particle accelerator in Geneva, Switzerland) was roughly 1.2 billion dollars in 2017. So what I am calling for here is what the European Union spends every single year on the search for fundamental particles for all of humanity to instead address the global ecological crisis and safeguard the future of our species.
Think about this for a moment before you continue reading this essay. It really should cause you to pause and reflect about our current priorities as human beings.
What I propose now is a framework for guiding humanity through the sustainability bottleneck as we navigate the planetary-scale systemic collapse outlined in the previous two essays in this series. If you want to hear me talk through this proposal in a recorded talk, I invite you to watch the 90 minute video on YouTube for a version that I presented to the cognitive science department at the University of California, Merced earlier this year. This essay will go into more detail about the vision I’ve been cultivating for a global network of culture design labs that—as argued in previous essays—I no longer believe is possible to build in the world.
This work can only be an actual and general overview which contains possibly staying facts in Quantum Computing. A detailed, deep research is for the author not possible but treasury Search Items and Key Words besides significant topics are interesting results by their writing down. Details can be found by every reader for himself by using Search Machines. Besides the value of scientifically Orientation is imporatnt.
Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Systems can have qualities not directly traceable to the system's components, but rather to how those components interact.” “ At each level of complexity entirely new properties appear.
