Social Media is a tool.
Different projects / Different preferences.
          Slightly different tools.
Like a telephone, social media is a two-way
              communication tool.

   Before making a phone call, you know:
        • Who you need to speak to
                 • Phone #
• How to speak to them, based on relationship
          • What to ask them to do
 • What you have to offer them (reciprocity)
                • Next steps
You can predict the outcome of a phone
    conversation based on your previous
                experiences:
  With that person, or with similar people.

Use your tools to listen (learn, research, find).
 More accurately predict positive outcomes.
Google search everything!
 Find people: Google search their name &
                 “Twitter”
                “LinkedIn”
                  Job title
                    City

Learn about their professional organizations,
   journalists and policymakers they talk to;
           Family, hobbies, friends
Look at their history, form opinions & predict:

      • What they will want to talk about
 • Which tool they like the most & how they use
     them > personal, professional or both?
  • Who they like, admire and spend time with
           • How they CAN help you
• What they might be willing to accept from you
                   (as payment)
START TODAY

So that when you NEED them NOW,
      you already know them,
    and they already know you.
Observe the people you want to meet,
   and earn reciprocity over time:

       • Follow them on Twitter
               • G+ them
   • Connect with them on LinkedIn
 • Follow their company on LinkedIn
  • Subscribe to their Facebook feed
      • Like their Facebook page

Remember others are listening to you.
They are forming opinions on you based on
    what they see when they Google you.
The more tweets, blog posts, FB updates, etc.,
         they can find in your history,
          the more the more firmly
       you form their opinions of you.
Consider yourself a PR agency,
            and YOU are your client.

EVERYTHING you publish becomes your reputation:

                • Focus on positive:
  conversations, hobbies, volunteering, activities, b
   rand interactions, charities, faith, relationships
     • Ask them questions & offer feedback
 • Be helpful. Volunteer. Get involved. Offer help.

  • 10. Like a telephone, social media is a two-way communication tool. Before making a phone call, you know: • Who you need to speak to • Phone # • How to speak to them, based on relationship • What to ask them to do • What you have to offer them (reciprocity) • Next steps
  • 11. You can predict the outcome of a phone conversation based on your previous experiences: With that person, or with similar people. Use your tools to listen (learn, research, find). More accurately predict positive outcomes.
  • 12. Google search everything! Find people: Google search their name & “Twitter” “LinkedIn” Job title City Learn about their professional organizations, journalists and policymakers they talk to; Family, hobbies, friends

Look at their history, form opinions & predict: • What they will want to talk about • Which tool they like the most & how they use them > personal, professional or both? • Who they like, admire and spend time with • How they CAN help you • What they might be willing to accept from you (as payment)
