Soccer, also known as football or association football, is played between two teams of 11 players using a ball on a rectangular grass field. The objective is to score more goals than the opposing team by putting the ball in their goal. Players can use any part of their body except hands and arms to move the ball into position to score, with goalkeepers being the only exception. The team with the most goals at the end of the game wins. The FIFA World Cup is a major international soccer competition held every four years where over 190 national teams compete to qualify for the 32-team final tournament hosted in a different country. Most people play soccer for enjoyment of the sport rather than money or competition.
