The history of football can be traced back to ancient times with traditional football games played in Europe, particularly medieval England. In 1863, the Football Association was formed in England which helped standardize the rules as different clubs previously played with their own individual rule sets. Ebenezer Cobb Morley is regarded as the father of the Football Association and modern football for his role in establishing standardized rules. Football is a sport played between two teams using a ball where players are divided into four positions - defense, midfield, and the front lines of attack.
