- 3. Introduction Football orSoccer, a sport played between 2 sides of 11 players with a spherical ball. In simple words, two teams containing 11 players maneuver the ball into the other team’s goal post without the use of hands. Only the goalkeeper can use their hands and this is only in their penalty area. It is played in a pitch having a range from 100-130 yards. The match is about 90 minutes long in which the game is divided into two halves. They are the first half and second half. In some cases, extra time is also added according to the situation. Football is the world’s most popular sport. It attracts billions of people to watch it on different platforms With more than 4 billion worldwide this sport is the most loved by players and players around the globe. 3
- 4. Rules and Regulations The game contains many rules and regulations that should be followed during the match. To make the match run smoothly, the rules should be followed. The referee ensures the rules and regulations in the match. If somebody violates the rules then the referee has the right to expel them. In modern-day football there are also some 4th referees who handle the crucial decisions in the game. 4

- 7. History Football hasa long history. It said that Football was invented in China nearly 476 B.C. But his football that we all know arose in England in the middle of the 19th century. After the research, various civilizations also used to play football. Chinese people used to call ‘cuju’, Aztecs used to call ‘Tchatali’, and Japanese people ‘Kemari’. Like this football spread all over the world. The most influenced people were the British people. They made their way of football which later changed and divided into two forms. Rugby and Soccer. 7

So, in 1888, William McGregor organized a meeting by calling all the teams. This meeting gave birth to the vision of football leagues. The first teams that took part in this league were: Burnley, Aston Villa, Stoke City, Blackburn Rovers, Preston North End, Accrington, Everton, Bolton Wanderers, Notts County, Derby County, West Bromwich Albion, and Wolverhampton Wanderers. The most popular league became the ‘Premiere league’ which was the most-watched league in the world. Due to great success different countries began to organize their leagues. 8
- 9. Formation of FIFA FIFA is the organization that is in charge of football all around the world. They organize many tournaments that help to promote football all-around the organization. FIFA was formed on 21 May 1904. Its abbreviation is Fédération Internationale de Football Association. A conference was held in 1904 in which football representatives of Denmark, France Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland took part. That conference led to the formation of FIFA. The first FIFA president was Daniel Woolfall of England. The present FIFA president is Gianni Infantino. 9
- 10. The World Cup The World Cup is the quadrennial tournament that determines the World champions in football. It is the most popular sporting event in the world. Almost 3.5 billion people watch the FIFA World Cup. World Cup is held in 4 years. The first World Cup was organized in the year 1930. The tournament was won by Uruguay by defeating Argentina. It was also known as the ‘Jules Rimet Cup’ which was later taken by Brazil after winning three times in a row. Brazil are the teams who have won the most World Cup (5 times). The recent World Cup was won by France after defeating Croatia. The coming World Cup is going to be organized in Qatar. 10

- 12. Icons of Football Pele Pele is regarded as the greatest footballer in the world. He was born in Brazil and his full name is Edson Arantes do Nascimento. He became the youngest player in the world to score two goals in the World Cup final. He also has scored the most goals in his football career. 1283 goals. All the football players respect him as one of the legends in football history. 12

From that time he was also known as the “Hand of God”. He also had a successful career in football clubs. He is also regarded as one of the legends in football history. He is a Barcelona superstar who was known as La Masia kid of 2005. He joined Barcelona at the age of 16. He has recently won the Ballon d’Or trophy which made him the player who has won the most Ballon d’Or trophy in the history of football. 14

The World’s First Football Club was the English Sheffield Football Club founded in 1857. The highest goals were 149-0 in a football game played between Stade Olympique de L’emyrne and AS Adema of Madagascar. The maximum number of goals scored by one player in a single Football match was 16. It was scored by Stephan Stannis (France) playing for Racing Club de Lens in December 1942. Based on video evidence, one of the fastest ever scored was in 2.8 seconds by Ricardo Olivera (Uruguay) in December 1998. One of the largest ever football tournaments were played in the year 1999 in which a total of 5,098 teams had participated and more than 35,000 players took part. In 1969 a civil war was stopped about 48 hours to watch a football match of legendary player Pele. 17
- 18. Football in Contextof Nepal Recently Nepal won a friendly match against Mauritius. The match was scored by Bimal Gharti Magar. Nepal is doing good in football but is failing to put a remark in it. Similarly, Nepal beat India in the 2016 South Asian Games and claimed the first position. Like this Nepal is progressing day by day in the football sector. Nepal women football team has also shown their great remarks in their matches. 18
- 19. Conclusion “You haveto fight to reach your dream. You have to sacrifice and work hard for it.” We can also relate football in our life. Like to become good at football we need to practice and train hard. Similarly in our life, we need to train hard and practice to be good or accomplish it. While playing football we fall or fail to score a goal which can be compared to failing our aim in our life. But in our next attempt, we may be able to score or be successful. So, waiting for the right opportunity and patience is the key. So, we can relate football with our life. 19
