We have proposed to the EU a virtual incubation program aimed at helping Micro and small social enterprises (spread across 9 Countries) that are highly affected by the Covid 19 crisis. The ambition is to help these companies increase their business + financial + sustainability literacy while working side by side with stakeholders to review strategy and increase their business model resilience. Several organizations started reaching out to propose the same program locally: we are currently planning cohorts in Greece and Uganda. For more info: manu@babele.co

Introducing the Ontario Scale Up Vouchers Program Playbook 2017riccentre2
The Ontario Scale-Up Vouchers Program is a four-year $32.4 million initiative, funded by Ontario’s Ministry of Research, Innovation & Science (“MRIS”) and Ministry of Economic Development and Growth (”MEDG”) and accessed through three organizations: Communitech, Invest Ottawa, & MaRS, Regional Innovation HUB’s located in Waterloo, Ottawa & Toronto respectively.
More than USD 300 billion per year will be needed to restore the world’s degraded lands and achieve Sustainable Development Goal 15 by 2030. Public financing is likely to be inadequate, meaning substantial private investment is needed to support restoration activities on the ground.
A crucial step is to identify and establish bankable or investable restoration projects to convince investors of the economic potential and feasibility of restoration beyond its environmental and social impacts.
This session presents several ongoing initiatives and existing tools to support entrepreneurs in developing a business case for sustainable restoration.
This is an intensive two week Entrepreneurship Program that provides Emiratis the opportunity to dramatically improve career choices for high school graduates and college students. All participants will have the chance to train for the business world through Transform Your Future: a business simulation and educational program, aimed at improving work placement chances and potential job choices and entrepreneurship opportunities for the future. At the end of the program, there will be a competition among participants to identify the best business plan presented.

Skills needed to Manage your SubordinateEmanuele Musa
What are the skills needed to manage your subordinates?
COMMUNICATION - Leaders help communicate the firm's vision and mission to employees. This provides direction and helps everybody identify the roles that best fit their skills and experiences. Through clear communication, leaders encourage their subordinates to act for the actualisation of objectives.
ACTIVE LISTENING - Healthy communication between leaders and team members establishes a foundation for trust. When your team members know that they will be heard, they can openly share their ideas and provide honest feedback. This, in turn, drives employee engagement and positive business outcomes, including innovation, productivity and profitability.
TEAMWORK - Teams can achieve higher levels of performance than individuals because of the combined energies and talents of the members. Collaboration can produce motivation and creativity that may not be present in single-contractor projects. Individuals also have a sense of belonging to the group, and the range of views and diversity can energise the process, helping address creative blocks and stalemates. By involving team members in decision-making, and calling upon each member’s area of contribution, teams can produce positive results.
FLEXIBILITY- Flexible leaders are those who can modify their style or approach to leadership in response to uncertain or unpredictable circumstances. In addition, flexible leaders can adapt to changes as they come. They can revise their plans to incorporate new innovations and overcome challenges while still achieving their goals.
SELF CONFIDENCE- To teach leadership without first building confidence is like building a house on a foundation of sand.leadership is about having the confidence to make decisions. If someone is afraid to make and commit to decisions, all of the communication and empowerment in the world won't make a difference.
ENTHUSIASM - Your attitude will determine your direction. Successful people are passionate about their work and the activities they engage in. For successful people, enthusiasm is a key driver of passion and achievement. While Enthusiasm comes from within, whether you’re enthusiastic or not is a choice.

Babele - a virtual incubator to engage stakeholders in innovationEmanuele Musa
Babele.co is a social enterprise creating programs and tools to engage stakeholders in sustainable innovation.
We run the United Nations' Sustainable Development Solutions' Network accelerator program on the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as several social intrapreneurship programs with organizations such as EY, Bosch, CDC bank, Chicco, BT, etc.
On the tech side, we host the largest online impact accelerator network: we host the programs of Muhammad Yunus & Youth, Ashoka, Berkeley University, the British Council, etc. as well as a network of 1000+ social ventures from 113 countries.
Each program manages its private online workspace for social business modeling, mentoring and peer-learning, but they can also reach out to the other programs to borrow experts, share best practices and cross-pollinate ideas.
The theory of change is to prevent these programs to work in silos, so they can leverage the collective knowledge and resources of the global social innovation network.
In this presentation, we explain how our digital platform works: to manage the innovation process and engage stakeholders in intrapreneurship and collaborative innovation.
Feedback is always welcome.

2. Context and challenge
IMF estimates the world will enter into a recession in 2020 with reduction
in trade, investment, growth and employment as a result of the Covid-19
crisis. There are 25 million SME's in Europe. They represent two-thirds of
jobs and are particularly impacted by the new Coronavirus crisis.
One-third of SMEs could run out of business within the next 2 months.
Such businesses are facing very tough trading conditions under current
unprecedented times; challenged with market uncertainty that’s forcing
many businesses to pivot.
Most EU Member States have started new guarantee schemes to allow
companies in financial difficulties to access low interest rates loans. The
goal is to provide financial aid through an easy administrative process.
However, those in difficulty must decide whether taking on more debt is a
feasible solution.
SMEs must reinvent their business model taking into account the
collapsing demand and the disrupted supply chains. Their failure to do
so may cause their insolvency and trigger a financial crisis for the
inability to pay all the debt created.

Education for Business Assessment, Definition and Reshape by giving access to

their business models in order to effectively adapt to the new economic
conditions; to ensure sustainable growth, post crisis.

Marketing, Operations, and Finance & Sustainability. Entrepreneurs will
gain a better understanding of the key performance business levers for
sustainability.
• Creating a SME resilience recovery plan taking into account their
priorities, difficulties, impact of changing market needs and how their
business strategy should evolve in order to survive for growth.
• Engaging a global stakeholder and expert network for peer-to-peer
knowledge exchange and open collaboration, allowing entrepreneurs to
validate and refine their survival strategy through digital mentoring.

work and provide feedback on both strategy
assignments and challenges.
Administrators can track the work done by
entrepreneurs and mentors, can invite stakeholders
to join the accelerator and manage communication
with all the network-members.

sessions, aimed at tracking progress and providing ad-
hoc support to help with business planning, decision
making, and problem solving.
Online platform mentoring
Additional feedback is provided on the weekly
assignments via the online incubation platform. The
input can be made available to other innovators – to
foster peer-learning and sharing of best practices.
200 mentors (one for each SME) will provide weekly coaching, structured around the webinar
theme and tailored to effectively fill the identified gaps. They help iterating the entrepreneurs’
strategy, and support the development of a resilient business model.
11. 4. Peers collaboration — 5. access to experts
Peer-learning & collaboration
Entrepreneurs are invited to find a peer and follow their
startup, so they can be notified about its progress and
provide useful feedback at each step in the process.
Access to industry experts
Our global network will be invited to join this
international ecosystem, so that entrepreneurs can easily
find the right experts based on the skills they need.
The program has a collaborative component that gets Entrepreneurs to work together and
support each other. We will also engage a broader network of industry experts to support the
SMEs, as well as invite potential corporate partners and investors.
12. 6. Virtual Demo Week
After 8 weeks of intense work, mentoring, planning and
testing, the final strategy are presented to the public
during the Virtual Demo Week.
Administrators, together with partners and experts will
be invited in the online platform to check the teams
progress and performance, watch the video pitch and
resilience strategy presentation.
The public can participate in judging the best initiatives,
which will be entitled to in-kind prizes.
After the Demo week, the projects will remain available in
the online platform for 1 year. The entrepreneurs, will still
have access to the platform, the e-learning material, the
webinars and their projects until the year-end.
• Users will be able to keep using the platform to communicate with other participants, and
invite stakeholders to see the SMEs, as well as the work done during the program.
