smart service dustbin with IOT in embedded systems.pptx
1.
2. Introduction
In the current time, the immense growth in population creates
unhygienic environment for the citizen of a society with
respect to waste generation. This rapid generation of waste
leads to various infectious diseases in the environment.
In hospitals, the trash bins and rubbish bins being used normally
require a person to open it which can lead to spread of some
diseases especially if its unsanitary, inconveniences when lifting
garbage with both hands and its hard to tell when its full.
prototype that functions in the following ways;
Automatically opens the lid when it senses a person
Closes automatically after use.
3. Problem Statement
Trash bin top covers are unsanitary.
Further more, opening the lid for trash bins with lid tops can be
an inconvenience and in most cases its hard to tell when the bin
is full before opening it to throw in rubbish.
To help resolve this problem, Smart Service Bin has been
developed to help improve waste management system in the
environment and make it more efficient, hygienic and
environmentally friendly.
4. Significance
It reduces contact between the person and the trash
bin.
It reduces the spread of diseases brought about by
poor sanitation and garbage overflow
Reduces on time spent trying to multitask in opening
the trash bin.
Finally, it provides an easy indication to know once the
trash bin has gotten full hence can easily be emptied
to be reused again in time.
5. Main objective
To design and develop a smart service bin
To investigate the related literature and analyze the requirements necessary
for developing a smart trash bin
To design and implement a smart service bin
To test and validate a smart service bin
6. Scope
Technical
The project is focused on
designing and developing a
smart service bin for hospitals
The project involves the use
of various technologies such
as Arduino Microcontroller,
GSM, Ultrasonic sensor,
Servo motor which help in
the automatic opening of the
bin.

13. Conclusion
In conclusion, automated dustbins have the potential to
revolutionize waste management and promote sustainability.
They offer a more efficient, hygienic and environmentally
friendly solution to the traditional waste management methods.
The implementation of automated dustbins could have a
significant impact on reducing waste and improving overall
cleanliness of the environment.
