The document outlines a smart goal to perform restorative yoga twice per week and once on the weekend by the end of February. The goal was chosen to improve flexibility and relieve stress. While the goal was not fully achieved, logging 26 sessions out of 35, the process helped develop stress relief techniques and a healthier lifestyle. Overall, the experience was considered a success.
Meditation makes life a little better. Fact. Answers come more readily, days flow more easily, emotions feel more grounded. Everyone can use some meditation in their lives which is why I always recommend it to clients, yet it’s often met with trepidation.
Why? Because it seems like an intimidating thing. But it doesn’t have to be. These are a few of my meditation made easy tips that can make the practice more approachable:

The reason people quit is they have too much motivation, and not enough momentum. If you want to keep going, no matter what, focus on building momentum rather than motivation. Learn More: http://mindpersuasion.com/tools/

Introduction to Meditation
Have you ever wanted to escape the outside world for just a few minutes? By mastering the art of meditation, you will be able to do that anywhere! Meditation helps with a wide variety of things, from keeping you stress free to helping your bodies immune system. It has the ability to make you AND those around you happier and will also make you feel more connected. Meditation not only helps our mind, but can also reduce aging and improve metabolism, which will help some lose weight. Another proven benefit of meditation is increased memory and attention span.
History of Meditation
Meditation dates back to prehistoric origins confirmed by early religious contexts. We see some of the earliest written records of meditation from Vedantism which comes from Hindu traditions around 1500 BCE. The English word “meditation” stems from meditatum, a Latin term meaning “to ponder.” Although we can’t know when, exactly, people began to meditate, experts agree that the practice probably began many thousands of years ago, before the birth of modern civilization as we know it. If scholars look to establish the origins of meditation, they first have to decipher ancient texts and recorded hieroglyphs to find references to this discipline. Several archaeological findings suggest that hunter-gatherers were participants of some forms of meditation, as were early shamans. Their knowledge was passed down orally from one generation to the next, helping to lay the important foundations of modern meditation. It can be difficult to pin down the origins of meditation because there are so many practices that fall under the “meditation” umbrella. Is it mindfulness? Contemplation? Communion? Chanting? Trance?
Although many forms of meditation can be found in ancient religious traditions around the world, the practice as a component of a spiritual journey is probably most closely associated with Buddhism. The Buddha, who lived and taught in Southeast Asia about 2600 years ago, founded a path that inspired generations of participants to sit in mindful awareness and breathe their way to lasting peace. According to his teachings, meditative concentration is one of three trainings that when practiced together result in awakening, or enlightenment. The other two are proper ethical conduct and the wisdom of seeing things as they really are.
Men and women who gained insight and wisdom by putting the Buddha’s teachings into practice taught others. Seekers would travel to learn from great teachers who often lived in cultures far removed from their own, then bring th.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
2. Smart Goal
S – I will perform restorative yoga twice a night during the week (Tues/Thurs) and once
more on a weekend night (Sat or Sun)
M – I will be measured on weekday nights by the instructor/leader with her set time and
on the weekend night with a 30 minute video guide from youtube
A – As an art student and someone who needs to improve overall body knots and sores I
think this will work for me. It will help me to relax my mind after working on art and to
relieve stress from other physical activities.
R – I have already been taking yoga one night a week for the past few months so I already
have one foot in the door.
T – My goal will be completed by the end of February and completed through April.
3. My Goal
Reasons: My reasoning for choosing this goal was simple. Flexibility and stretching are
important to me; especially when working behind a computer screen all day. I needed a
set goal to focus on in order to get myself to stretch more and this was a good way to get
REALLY good stretching in through out the week.
The steps were easy enough towards accomplishment I just needed the motivation.
1: Begin by informing the instructor of my plan so she can help keep me on track
2: Keep a log of all the days I went during the week and the time I spent on the weekend night
performing yoga.
3: Making sure I never over-stretched or pushed a muscle too far causing an injury.
4. Log
Total Possible Days I Could Have Attended The Amount of Days I Did Go
35 26
# of Minutes Total from Planned Number of Minutes I Completed in
Weekend Session (30 min sessions) Total
240 176
5. The Process
As the weeks progress I found I needed to take some extra steps to get as close to my goal
as possible (after already missing 1 day two weeks in)
1: Set notes and reminders all over my computer and phone so I could not ignore it or forget it.
2: Once it started to become a habit STICK WITH IT.
3. For weekend sessions pick an appropriate half hour of the day that I could use the tranquility of
yoga
4. Once the time was set find an isolated location so I would not get distracted.
Inhibitors were more troublesome than I thought. Yoga requires a lot of
patience and a lot of free time so it was hard to sacrifice work time for it.
Enablers: The biggest enabler was the way my body felt after a session. It was
incredible!
6. Results
The final results?!?!!?
Good and bad.
I still cannot perform the arms behind the back test.
HOWEVER I now feel a whole lot better on a daily basis between sitting and standing
and performing daily tasks. I also have developed lots of stretching techniques I can do
with out even leaving the computer while working!
I have also developed many stress relieving techniques that help me immensely through
out my day.
So overall I would say it is a win!!!
7. Results (cont.)
Overall this experience has changed a lot of my
views on how I can be healthier and stick to a plan.
I now see any goal is possible even if you hit a few
bumps along the way (its much easier getting back
on track when you’re already halfway there)
This was a great success for me in my eyes.
