SELF CHANGE
Time Managment
what is my self change goal?
◦ after evaluating my habits and priorities, I established that my goal for the self change project
was assessing my time management.
◦ Time management skills needed to be improved because I have always been a HORRIBLE
procrastinator, sometimes to the point of failure.
◦ it was average for me to put everything I had to complete off to the very last minute, always
resulting in stress, tears, and sometimes failing grades.
◦ After realizing how sick and tired I was of being sick and tired of my habits, I decided I needed
to focus this project on improving my time management skills as focusing on what I need to do
before doing what I want to do.
plan?
◦ after choosing my self change goal, I started to evaluate different ways I could achieve it.
◦ most of my lack of time management came from lack of organization. After realizing this, I
made it a top priority of mine to start writing down every single thing I needed to do. This
included buying notebooks for study habits, drawing my own calendars, and setting multiple
alarms on my phone reminding myself to check my planner on a very regular basis.
◦ this is very different from my normal everyday behavior because normally my assignments
wouldn’t get written down or even cross my mind until the very day before.
progress and logging assignments.
Week 1
◦ HORRIBLE procrastination
◦ Lack of motivation
◦ Hard time having a positive outlook or confidence in myself to get my work done.
Week 2
◦ After forcing myself to complete different works, my confidence levels starting raising.
◦ Gave myself a MINIMUM completion of 2 hours a night just for focusing on schoolwork.
◦ Gave myself rules consisting of turning off all television, phones, and computers unless needed
for academic assignments.
◦ overtime I slowly gained more and more motivation to start on schoolwork right as I got home.
Week 3
◦ In just three weeks, I motivated myself to complete more than I normally would within 2
months. (nearly)
◦ Higher confidence. Not just academically but also physically
◦ Higher expectations for myself
Consequences...
◦ some of my favorite things to do in my downtime is to workout and sing...
◦ IF I didn’t complete my nightly assignments from each of my classes I would not allow myself to
go running, weightlifting, or open any piece of sheet music.
Rewards...
◦ Having the satisfaction of completing all of my work before anything else was already a reward
in itself, but along with that, IF I were to get everything done I needed to first I would allow
myself to...
◦ workout to relieve my stress
◦ treat myself to a food item of my choice GUILT FREE!
◦ go out with my friends
◦ listen and study any music of my choice
◦ relaxation
Support?
◦ Honestly throughout this project, I only had myself for support.
◦ I always have my friends, grandmother, and dog to go to for support but I thought about it, and
I was truly the only one who gave any motivation to make this project work.
Now...
◦ At the end of this project, I came out knowing what I REALLY need in order to focus on what is
important at that exact moment in time
◦ A structured time schedule
◦ Valued goals
◦ A higher GPA
◦ Most importantly, the self confidence to know I can achieve anything I need to in order to reach
these valued goals.
THANK YOU!
