Evance, formerly known as Iskra Wind Turbines, manufactures small wind turbines in the UK. Their lead product, the Evance Iskra R9000, is a 5kW turbine that typically produces 9,000 kWh of energy per year. Small wind turbines between 3kW to 50kW in size have the potential for a big future if certain barriers are addressed. Currently, small wind has higher costs than other renewable technologies due to low production volumes. However, increased production volumes could reduce costs substantially and make small wind economically viable without subsidies.
