How did it start?
 Jack was diagnosed from a rare form of
bone cancer called Ewings Sarcoma.
 While we were in 6th year, Jack fought for
15 months.
 When Jack was sick we started our first
Portmarnock Fights Cancer Event.
Our First Event
 Held on the 23rd of February 2013.
 10 Hour Basketballathon with help from Rangers
Basketball Club and the PSLC.
 We raised over €2,000 in one day which all went
to The Irish Cancer Society.
It was a huge success
 Jack sadly passed away the following day while
counting the generous donations.
We wanted to make it Bigger
We Started Planning
 Last October, the 6 of us got together and started
planning for this years fundraiser
 We made great use of social media for example
Facebook, Twitter and Instagram page to create
awareness
28th of February 2015
 10 Hour Basketballathon
 Table Quiz
 Face Painting
 Cake Sale
 Raffle
Again it was another huge
success

success
With a few familiar faces
The Result
 After months of organisation, we began to count
out the proceeds.
 We raised over €7,500
 As Jack’s friends were overwhelmed and
incredibly grateful for all the support.
 Portmarnock Fought Cancer
Why we are here today
 Very kindly PCS have agreed to help fight cancer
 On the (18th of March) PCS are doing a non
uniform day to help fight cancer.
How can I get involved?
 Wear your own clothes and donate €2 to help us a
community fight Cancer.
 100% of the proceeds are going to The Irish Cancer Society
which help fund for research, night nurses, chemotherapy
chairs and much more.
