2. Vitkus Properties LLC is a small
construction business owned by
David Vitkus
The business is run out of Dudley,
Massachusetts
I was able to interview the owner by
requesting a meeting via email, which
I found on the businesses homepage
3. VitkusProperties opened in 2004 and they
have been in business for eight years.
They are a Limited Liability Company
because they are a “single member” LLC
because there is only one owner.
David Vitkus chose to run an LLC because
the owner has limited personal liability for
the debts and actions of the company.
4. Home Building
Residential Building-
Additions, Garages, Drainage
Commercial Construction-General
Contractor, Excavation, Complete Site
Work, Roadways, and Infrastructure
5. David Vitkus is a third generation builder who has
over twenty years of experience in his field.
Father, Allan Vitkus owned a company called
Vitkus Construction out of Charlton,
Massachusetts and David worked there for years
because creating his own company.
David Vitkus started his company because he
wanted to continue the traditions of his family.
Vitkus Properties is very similar to David's fathers
business and they both follow the same morals
and standards.
6. One of the company's most recent successes
includes recognition in the Worcester Telegram
for their hard work creating a 55+ community
that was completely handicap accessible for the
elderly.
David Vitkus plans to own and operate the
company until he feels the need to retire.
The company faced a few challenges early on
when they struggled to create enough revenue
to fund advertising and they also struggled to
become a company independent of David's
fathers construction company.
7. “Why did you choose to open a small business
in Dudley?”
“ I chose to open a small business in Dudley
because my wife was from the area and I also
needed to move away from my dads company
so I could start fresh.”
“How many people does your company
employee?”
“My company employees two-four office workers
and then a construction crew of about fifteen.”
8. Throughout my interview with David Vitkus he
emphasized that the most important part of his
job was to make sure he hired the most skilled
and organized people he could. He also advised
you hire people you trust or who are close to
you. I agree with his statements because if you
know someone closely I believe they would be
willing to work harder for you. I also learned that
it was much easier for David to start up his
company because he had so much experience
in the field that he gained from his father.
