2. This first photo is about the recognition of the effort that I put into my
work. I got hired at my first job at McDonalds, this was an
accomplishment for me because I had never worked before and I had
no experience. After being a cashier for about four months I got the
employee of the month award, it made me very happy to know that I
was doing my job correctly and that the managers could see that. A
few days after winning this award I was promoted to Crew Trainer.
3. High School was a time where my priorities were misplaced,
education was not important for me and I drop out of high school in
grade eleven. After a few years of work, learning what life is about and
realising the importance that education has in ones life I decided to go
back school. This time I went to Adult school and I finished my last
high school credit through distance learning. The day I went to pick up
my diploma I could not believe that I had finished high school. I
learned that is never to late to get an education and that I accomplish
one of the most important steps in my life.
4. In the summer of 2011 I attended a two day class at JVS Toronto, it
was about customer service and cashiering. By this time I had been
out of the workforce for about six months and I was a bit rusty in my
knowledge in customer service. Throughout these two days I learned
new things, review things I already knew and after the two days I
decided to apply to college.
5. This is the place that I never thought I would go to. In high school I
did not have a good studying habit and it never occurred to me that I
will ever become a college student. At Centennial College I have gain
many skills that I never thought I could learn. I have proven to my self
that I am capable of doing things that might seem impossible.
6. I am an immigrant to Canada. I came here in 2002 at the age of 12,
coming to Canada was a cultural shock for me because I did not speak
English, I did not know how to react to multiculturalism and I just
wanted to go back home. After some time I realize that coming to this
country is one of the best things that has happened to me. It open my
mind to a whole new way of thinking, I was able to learn about other
cultures and I gained the privilege to live a country that is developed
and organized in ways I had never seen. When I was a little girl my
dream was to travel to Miami because everything else was to far,
different and just because of my country of birth I need a visa to travel
to other countries. Now my dream is to travel all over the world with a
passport that open doors to places I never thought I would travel to and
this is just one of the freedoms of being Canadian.
