The number of registered childminders in the UK has decreased by 800 since March 2017 and by 14,700 since August 2012, with 43,700 registered as of August 31, 2017. However, the overall number of childcare places offered has remained stable at around 1.3 million places. The presentation provides statistics on childcare providers and inspections in the UK and encourages accessing more detailed early years and childcare data on the Ofsted website.
