 Composed of six provinces: Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, and

 Known for its mountainous terrain, cool climate, and indigenous culture
 Home to various indigenous groups collectively known as the Igorot
Rural/Upland Indigenous Groups (CAR)
 The Igorot people include various subgroups such as:
- Ifugao – Famous for the Banaue Rice Terraces, skilled in woodcarving and
weaving
- Kankanaey – Known for their traditional dances and colorful woven fabrics
- Bontoc – Practitioners of traditional tattooing, famous for their warrior culture
- Ibaloi – Found in Benguet, known for their mummification practices and
cattle-raising
- Kalinga – Distinguished by their intricate tattoos and headhunting history
- Tingguian – Found in Abra, known for their oral literature and weaving
National Capital Region (NCR)
 • The most urbanized region in the Philippines
 • Composed of 16 cities and 1 municipality
 • A melting pot of various cultures due to migration from different regions
 • Some indigenous groups from rural areas have migrated to NCR in search of
economic opportunities
Urban/Lowland Indigenous Groups (NCR)
 • Indigenous groups in NCR are often migrants from provinces
 • Common indigenous groups found in NCR:
- Aeta – Originally from Zambales, Pampanga, and Tarlac, known for their resilience
and hunting skills
- Dumagat – Found in Rizal and Quezon, often engage in fishing and farming
- Igorot communities – Some migrate from CAR to NCR for education and employment
 • Challenges faced by indigenous groups in NCR:
- Loss of traditional culture and language
- Economic struggles and limited job opportunities
- Discrimination and marginalization
