Tracy Galuski documented a trip to the beach with Lydia Rhoades-Brown on October 8th, 2013. Tracy wants to develop a virtual child care center to allow teachers-in-training to do observations and see high quality environments. Lydia is exploring using virtual reality for her work as a corporate trainer. Some challenges of virtual environments are the costs, time needed, and changing technology. However, benefits include being exciting, allowing observation without confidentiality issues, and letting people visit anytime.

 The cost of setting up an environment and
keeping it relevant and rich.
 It takes time!
 Changing technology – how long can we do this
before a new and better idea makes it irrelevant?
 The learning curve. Is it worth the extra effort? Is
a virtual environment better than simply drawing it
out on a large piece of paper?

5. Benefits of virtual environments
 Exciting and new – fun!
 For an audience of teachers it allows us to
observe children without issues of confidentiality
 Allows participants to visit anytime. No need to
worry about fitting it into a busy life.
