This chapter concludes the introduction to the course by reviewing what was covered and what is to come. The chapter introduced the instructor and their credentials for building eCommerce sites with WordPress and Storefront. It also outlined 5 factors to consider for an eCommerce site and provided a worksheet to help define goals and strategy for a new online store. Up next will be installing WordPress, Storefront, and WooCommerce to get started.

1. Conclusion to Chapter 1: Welcome to the Course
Congratulation! You’ve made it to the end of the first chapter of this course.
In this chapter I introduced you to the Storefront theme and WordPress. I reviewed the topics we’ll
cover in the course, as well as the requirements. At the end of this course you will be able to run your
own eCommerce store on a customized WordPress site. I’ll also touched on why and who this course is
for, and how Storefront is an excellent online store for you.
I introduced you to who I am: my credentials, my experience as a designer and front‐end website
developer, my work with eCommerce applications, my extensive knowledge building WordPress sites.
I reviewed how you should assess your eCommerce needs and requirements. There are 5 factors you
should consider before you start your eCommerce site.
1. Define your project goals
2. Choose a hosting and domain name
3. Determine your financial goals
4. Review your shopping cart
5. Consider your SSL and security
I also included a download The Creative Brief Worksheet to help you define the purpose and goals of
your project, who is the target audience and what content to include. It’s important that you have a
clear plan for your website. Once you have determined your goals, content and strategy, you can refer
to the brief as your guide from time to time to remind yourself to stay on track.
In the next section, we'll dive right in and install WordPress, the Storefront theme, and WooCommerce.
