The sketchbook highlights drawings for various project types including masterplans, buildings, and developments across the UK, Europe and beyond.
This document discusses designing 21st century learning. It begins by setting the scene and describing characteristics of young people today, noting they are professional communicators, businesslike, learn in different ways through networks, are authentic, want things fast and of quality, and are functionally oriented. It then questions how education will need to change to teach today's students in a way other than how educators have traditionally prepared. The document presents 6 design principles for 21st century learning: understanding 21st century skills and Apple Distinguished Educators, having a relevant and applied curriculum, being informative, fostering a culture of learning, providing ubiquitous access to technology, and viewing technology as a tool and not an end. It provides examples related to these principles

1) The student conducted an experiment to determine which soil type retains the most water by pouring 500ml of water through samples of humus, clay, sand, and gravel soil.
2) The hypothesis was that humus soil would retain the most water due to its small pore space.
3) The results showed that humus soil retained the most water on average at 301ml, followed by clay at 451ml, sand at 360ml, and gravel, which retained the full 500ml poured through it.
This document discusses the key components and formation of soil. It describes the six major components of soil as eroded rock, mineral nutrients, decaying organic matter, water, air, and living organisms. Soil forms through the weathering of bedrock and is influenced by physical, chemical, and biological factors. The document also outlines the horizons and properties of soil, such as texture and permeability, and explains their importance for supporting plant life. Various human impacts on and management of soil are also covered, such as erosion, conservation practices, and relevant legislation.

Presentation at the Texas Foreign Language Association 2013 Fall Conference
Abstract: Spanish teachers demonstrate their uses of the Spin TX Video Archive—a free and open collection of video interviews with bilingual Spanish speakers in Texas. Teachers discuss how they use the Spin TX videos to create standards-based lessons that focus on authentic, conversational Spanish. In particular, the teachers will show that the SpinTX videos capture language in context and demonstrate the linguistic and cultural diversity of the Spanish-speaking world. Lesson plans based on the SpinTX videos include elements that lead to deeper language learning: thinking critically about language/culture problems, working collaboratively, and learning how to learn.
This document provides information on skills needed for the 21st century. It discusses key learning outcomes like checking if educators are ready for the future and steps to prepare students. It outlines categories of 21st century skills like learning, literacy and life skills. Critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication are emphasized. The document also discusses tools and methodologies for teaching these skills, such as flipped classrooms, blended learning, and competency-based learning. Traits of 21st century educators are highlighted as being able to teach all learners, differentiate instruction, integrate technology, foster relationships and embrace change.
The document provides information about a workshop on Discovery, Discourse and Depth using the 5-E instructional model. Cordon emphasized the importance of student voice and choice and ensuring individual accountability within teams.
This document provides an overview of project-based learning (PBL). It defines PBL as having students investigate or respond to an open-ended question or challenge, applying their understanding to create something new while developing critical thinking and collaboration skills. PBL is presented as better preparing students for solving complex real-world problems compared to traditional instruction. The document distinguishes PBL from typical projects by noting PBL requires sustained inquiry, authenticity, and student voice rather than predetermined outcomes. Examples of PBL from MURSD include Chinese students creating sales pitches for inventions and students collectively organizing a Renaissance faire, involving research, collaboration, and presentations.

The document then discusses how differentiating instruction based on student readiness, interest, and learning profile can help all students experience challenge and success. It provides examples of differentiating content, process, and product. Finally, it discusses universal design for learning and how differentiating instruction and UDL share the goal of reaching all learners.

Are we challenging the full learning potential (adrian underhill)eaquals
The document discusses the concept of "Demand High" teaching, which aims to fully challenge students' learning potential. It questions whether teachers are under-challenging students or focusing too much on tasks rather than learning. Demand High teaching means using activities to challenge each student at their own learning level and requiring different responses from learners. It emphasizes making learning visible and having students revisit tasks with new focuses on variables like pronunciation. The document outlines some qualities of a Demand High mindset for teachers, such as leading through learning, providing optimal challenge and support, and upgrading feedback to enable learning.

Coaching and mentoring both involve structured interactions to promote sustainable change, but they differ in focus. Coaching emphasizes future goals and uses open-ended questions to stimulate self-awareness and personal responsibility. Mentoring provides more guidance and career development support. The document discusses definitions of coaching and mentoring from various sources and lists people who may benefit from coaching like teachers, students, and professionals looking to improve performance or handle stress. Coaching conversations are goal-oriented but non-directive, helping identify options without giving advice.

THE SACRIFICE HOW PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTS STUDENTS ARE SACRIFICING TO CHANGE T...indexPub
The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.
