DO NOT EXPECT
(WHAT YOUR HABIT OF MIND SAYS)
The objective of education is to change our default habit of mind. By default, man is a
mixture of animal consciousness and human consciousness. Comparison of human
brain and brains of lower animals demonstrate that. Human brain has ancient
evolutionary relics like brainstem but also has corpus callosum – an organ connecting
left and right brain. The whole purpose of educational process is to enhance the
human consciousness and suppress the animal consciousness. The ultimate test of
education is how much it has achieved to elevate consciousness.
CAREER CAR ON THE WAY
The career car is a metaphorical car where we are a passenger and for most of the
passengers, the car is in auto-pilot mode. This auto-pilot process is governed by family
environment, genetic pre-disposition, judgment, hear-say, peer pressure, incentives, fear,
choice and circumstantial factors like economic climate, future prospects etc. Career car is
supposed to take us to the lane of our expectation. The problem is our expectations change
over time

Around an age of 18-25, we encounter our car has brought us in
front of a multilane highway extending to future. We have to make
our choices now. Each lane needs specific set of skills and
competencies to enter but it is not clear as what will be further
needed. The road is fraught with various obstacles.
A great mist of uncertainty hangs to the line of sight. Is my choice correct? Will
this lane take me to achievement or it will be danger resulting into dejection
and failure? What will be my destiny ?

The word destiny is অ-দৃষ্ট [Not- seen]. Now, this may not be seen by me but there may be
someone / some people who can see what we cannot see from our vantage point.

Now we need someone who can help students to assist to see his/her Destiny

Acharya
Acharya comes from the root word achar and means one who practices what he preaches.
He is competent enough to see what is unseen for his students – both internal and external.
He is master of both vidya (knowledge) and kala (craft / skill / management).
Acharya is there who can see the
goal and can guide the students
to reach the goal by
surmounting the obstacles

The Acharya, being Master of both Vidya and Kala teaches both the Vidyas – the Vidya that
has direct influence on craft and hence earning a living and also the Vidya that is finer and
subtle but violation of which will send you to jail. The first is doing – a job, a craft, a thing. The
second is becoming – an apprentice, a senior, a mentor, a guide of youth. If becoming is
stopped, a highly skilled man will court disaster and his skill cannot save him.

Vidya means what differentiates us from animal. Cultivation of vidya allows us to challenge

Kala or craft / management is the HOW part of our existence.
ACHARYA FRAMEWORK
▪ As we practice, we create more WHYs and answer them. These answers sometimes
modulate our kala-practice and prevent wastage of time and resource into wasteful
kalas.
▪ Kala minus Vidya is disturbance and unhappiness. Extremely talented managers and
business leaders focused exclusively on ‘HOW TO BEAT THE MARKET THOUGH ANY
MEANS’ and now in jail. They did not ask at all : “WHY SHOULD I BEAT THE MARKET AT
ALL COSTS ?”
▪ Vidya minus Kala will create poverty, unrest, violence and war. If a society has less skill
and competencies, it will stop generating wealth and will become poor and then societal
unrest will follow.
