3. Axial Skeletons
• Skull- protects the brain
• Spinal column or Vertebrae – surrounds the spinal cord.
• Ossicles- is the middle ear, called anvil, hammer, and stirrup
• Hybrid bone - located in the neck, serves as the point of
attachment for the tongue
• Sternum or Breastbone - found at the center of the chest.
The 12 pairs of ribs are attached to the sternum forming the
rib cage.
7. Appendicular Skeletons
• Shoulder bone or Pectoral girdle – a group of bones
attached to the top of the breastbone. It includes the clavicles
and the scapula or shoulder blades.
• Arm bone- made up of three bones, humerus which is
above the elbow and the radius and the ulna which are
below the elbow
• Hand bones- made up of 54 bones – help you grasp things
8. Appendicular Skeletons
• Pelvis- pelvic girdle – a bowl shape structure that supports
the spine. It consist of the right and left hip bones and the
lower part of the spinal column. The pelvis is the solid base
of the hips. The legs are attached to a circular group of
bones of the pelvis.
• Femur - the bone that goes from the pelvis to the knee. It is
the longest bone in the body.
• Patella or knee cap - a triangular- shaped bone that
protects the knee joint. Below the knee are two other leg
bones. The tibia and the fibula.
