Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. 2. • Springtime could be a tough period of time for teenagers
• While the trees are getting greener, the flowers are blossoming, and the very air is filled with a
lovely, sweet scent, at the same time, high schoolers are facing the stress of their final exams,
sitting for the AP exams, navigating their college application process, and preparing to bid their
friends farewell.
• . If these tasks aren’t anxiety provoking already, then there’s peer approval too.
• School can somewhat be more of social minefield for teenagers, and it is imperative that they
are accepted among their peers.

5. Spending quality time
• Teenage is often the stage where parental influence often seems to wane away, as kids start
distancing themselves slowly from the values of the parents.
• While there’s truth to this theory, it doesn’t really tell the full story.
• A teacher with years of experience in the field of education & mental health at the best school
in Malad says that while parent-child relationships aren’t always peaceful, at the same time,
that could be very pivotal.
• Children need their parents and the other loving adults to properly guide them as they grow,
develop and mature.
6. • There are some studies that suggest that the teenagers need even more quality-time from the
parents than toddlers.
• Support and open communication can help buffer some turbulence that comes with
adolescence. Remember, making yourself available emotionally and physically – even if you
are feeling pushed away – during the stressful times outweighs the previous conflicts.
7. Encouraging tech breaks
• Pertaining to this pervasiveness of technologies in the society, teenagers as well as adults find
it often difficult to unplug.
• There’s a student who recently shared her personal experience of a challenge posed by the
English teacher which included a 1-week “social media detox”.
• While the very thought of giving up Snapchat and Instagram seemed to be terrifying initially,
the student observed how feeing the act eventually became.
• A majority of teenagers are connected to tech in one form or another each day and it is more
so for the social reasons and not for academic reasons.
8. • A primary challenge for most parents is the sheer impossibility to limit the access to most of the
forms of tech, and one may not even want to do so.
• However, at the same time, supervision and guidance is still important, more so in the teenage,
suggests the teacher at the international school in Mumbai. Focus more on moderation and
less on prevention.
• For teenagers who feel reluctant to go for complete detoxification, offer them a compromise of
simply deleting their saved bookmarks from the internet browser, or asking them to turn off
their email notifications on the smart phones, for a weekend at least.
