The Forest Of Gombe By Jane Goodall
Before science is introduced to the human society, people always use religious beliefs to
describe the mysterious phenomenon. However, as science becomes advanced, people
gradually lost in the relationship between it and religious beliefs. In the essay In the Forest of
Gombe , Jane Goodall spends long time with chimpanzees in the forests to recover from her
husband s death. During this period, she learns new ideas from the chimps and finds herself
back, and understands the complicated relationship between scientific ideas and religious
beliefs. Thus, to uncover peace, people have to understand themselves first instead of focusing
on problems permanently. People have the space to understand themselves when stay with
animals, and learn many meaningful ideas from them. When people lost their families, they
cannot accept it because they rarely face this kind of situations. Before her husband passes
away, Goodall believes in god. However, after losing her husband, Goodall angry at the
unjustness and starts to reject the god. To seek for healing, she decides to go to the forest and
stay with chimpanzees in Gombe. However, in the forest, animals deal with death in a totally
different way. Dead body can be finding everywhere and death is happening at all times. Thus,
animals treat it normally. As Goodall says, And always there are the young ones to carry on the
life of the species (146). Although old ones will passes away when they are old, but young ones

Cell Membrane Essay
The normal cell membrane and the structure commonly called a basement membrane differ because:
0.5 points were deducted
Incorrect:
Choice A is correct because the basement membrane is where a cell attaches to the lining , so the
basement membrane will always be outside the normal cell membrane as it is not a part of the actual
enterocyte or keratinocyte cell, just where it attaches to.
7. Which of the following is an example or description of negative feedback? 0.5 points were
deducted
Incorrect:
Choice B is correct because the working muscle gets hot and the blood that is being pumped into
the muscles is cooler than the muscles themselves, so blood flow into the working skeletal muscle
will cool the muscle back down.
8. Which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1.5 points were deducted
Correct:
Choice B is incorrect because too much carbohydrates lead to the cause of coliform bacteria to die,
not acidophilic bacteria. Acidophilic bacteria means acid loving bacteria, so the heightened ph
would not kill them, it would make more of them grow. If more of them grow, the LPS that causes
inflammation is not circulating, because they would only circulate if the bacteria dies.
Incorrect:
Choice C is correct because acidosis degrades tight junctions between enterocytes in the colon and
the cecum, which in turn lets more endotoxins from the bacteria into the blood that causes the
inflammation in laminitis.
Choice D is correct because the acidosis kills coliform bacteria, releasing LPS into the system and
the LPS causes the inflammation that in turn reduces blood flow and kills the tissues that cause
laminitis.
29. Insulin resistance could increase the likelihood of laminitis because: 1.5 points were deducted
Incorrect:
Choice A is correct because the stress of too much conversion of glucoseinto triglycerides can
cause insulin resistance. If there are more triglycerides, there is more fat storage within an
adipocyte, causing the animal to gain weight. With more weight, there is more pressure on the

Psychological Theories Of Assault
Assault is a violent crime that requires offensive touching, hitting, or frightening the victim by
word or deed. Assault crime can be upgraded to a felony when weapons are involved or abusing a
victim during the commission of a felony. Although assault can happen during crimes like robbery
and homicide, abuse happen mostly within a family or relationship (for example child abuse,
parental abuse, dating violence).
Psychological theory explains why a person will have a abuser behavior.. When looking at
psychological theory at the psychodynamic perspective, psychodynamic theory suggest human
personality is controlled by unconscious mental process that develop early in childhood. This
theory suggest how a person behave is greatly dependent on the

Argumentative Essay On The Ebola Virus
Introduction Majority of people acknowledge that the Ebola and Zika virus are two of the most life
threatening diseases that are incurable. According to American scientists, the Ebola virus originated
from direct and indirect human contacts and animals in Guinea meanwhile the Zika virus was
influenced by mosquitos from Brazil which makes pregnant women more vulnerable to the Zika
virus than anyone else since it could lead to several birth defects. Even though the Zika virus was
discovered more than 80 years ago, scientists still haven t made any progress in finding a cure.
Fortunately, Mumbai scientists have stumbled upon the idea horse antibiotics can cleanse the Ebola
virus spreading throughout the organ systems, not to mention that it s affordable for those from
low income families but we still don t know if it ll work. As a result, every individual should
understand how lethal the Ebola and Zika virus are due to it unknown vaccinationthat scientists are
still trying to uncover.
Arguments
Apparently, there are more than 3000 species of mosquitoes living today and it s possible that
any of those mosquitos we encounter may be infected with the Zika virus. Moreover, the Zika
virus is extremely hazardous towards pregnant since it can lead to microcephaly which is a
disorder that causes newborn babies to become retarded. On top of that, the Ebola is equally
dangerous for all individuals who are being diagnosed this virus ascribed to how our organs will

The Harmful Effects Of Child Labour
Abstract:
Child labour has many repercussions for the children, for their families and for the society as a
whole. The harmful effects of child labour can be seen in inadequate physical development,
various illnesses and deformities, damage to their central nervous system, impoverishment of
their mental faculties and indulgence in immoral acts. Family of the working child suffers the
economic loss in the long run and loses social bonds and ties within family which may ultimately
lead to family disorganisation. This survey focuses upon some specific dimensions of child
labour like wages and hours of work of the child labourers in Agra district of the U.P. state of
India. Total 500 child workers were chosen as respondents and Interview ... Show more content on

The incidence of earning money from childhood generates a feeling of independence among
children due to which they like to behave freely and promiscuously and do not like to be
subjected to control and discipline by other family members and are seen in many cases, even
before marriage indulging in sexual acts. Thus the family not only suffers the economic loss in the
long run but also becomes subjected to lose social bonds and ties within the family, and at times,
even family disorganisation occurs. This survey study empirically investigates into dimensions of
wage and working hours of child workers in Agra, U.P., India.
REVIEW OF LITERATURE
Khandekar and Naik (1972) observed that since the early years are meant to equip oneself with
knowledge, techniques and skills for one s different adult roles in the society, having to take up
a job at a young age to earn a living, is bound to affect the very process of growing up.
Chakraborty (1991) found that wage rate of child labourers was nearly 69.43 percent and 64.48
percent of adult male wage rate in 1984 85 and 1986 87 respectively. But the man days of
employment for adult males in agriculture and all other occupations were 242 and 257 and for
children there were 307 and 315 respectively in 1984 and 1987. He has advanced the argument that
child agricultural labourers although they constitute a very small percentage of total agricultural

Support Vector Machines On Distributed Computers
PSVM: Parallelizing Support Vector Machines on Distributed Computers
Edward Y. Changв€
—, Kaihua Zhu, Hao Wang, Hongjie Bai, Jian Li, Zhihuan Qiu, Hang Cui
Google Research, Beijing, China
Abstract
Support Vector Machines (SVMs) suffer from a widely recognized scalability problem in both
memory use and computational time. To improve scalability, we have developed a parallel SVM
algorithm (PSVM), which reduces memory use through performing a row based, approximate
matrix factorization, and which loads only essential data to each machine to perform parallel
computation. Let n denote the number of training instances, p the reduced matrix dimension after
factorization (p is significantly smaller than n), and m the number of machines. PSVM reduces the
memory requirement from O(n2) to O(np/m), and improves computation time to O(np2/m).
Empirical study shows PSVM to be effective. PSVM Open Source is available for download at
http://code.google.com/p/psvm/.
1 Introduction
Let us examine the resource bottlenecks of SVMs in a binary classification setting to explain our
proposed solution. Given a set of training data X = {(xi, yi)|xi в€€ Rd}ni=1, where xi is an obser
vation vector, yi в€€ {в€’1,1} is the class label of xi, and n is the size of X, we apply SVMs on X
to train a binary classifier. SVMs aim to search a hyperplane in the Reproducing Kernel Hilbert
Space (RKHS) that maximizes the margin between the two classes of data in X with the smallest
train ing error (Vapnik, 1995). This

High School Jacket Research Paper
I threw my books on the bed and approached the jacket slowly, as if it were a celebrity I was about
to meet. My hands drugged acrossed the soft cold leather, the color of dark forest green and black.
From the kitchen my mom yelled that my jacket was in the closet. I slowly opened the closet
hoping my jacket was the one on my bed. Sure enough it was, right then I slipped into my jacket.
It was a little big on me so I would have it for at least three years. Looking at the jacket I could see
my future, all the girls around me, hanging out with the cool kids. It is like my jacket was one
million dollars.
I slipped my jacket back on and looked in the mirror and realized that I would look good if I
combed my hair. My sleeves ran past my hands so I rolled the cuffs up, and ran down stairs and
hugged my mom like there was no life left in her Thank you! I screamed. I sprinted outside with
my new style of hair and jacket. As I was outside I tried to avoid my hungry dog, so I could show
everyone how cool I was in my new slick jacket. As I sat on the fence daydreaming about my
jacket, two cool kids walked over to me and invited me to hang out with there group of friends at
school. At that moment, I knew my jacket held a great future for me. ... Show more content on

James Bond Stereotypes
Dr. No (1962) and Rising Sun (1994) are heavy loaded with stereotypes. 32 years apart and for
sure appearance of Sean Connery has changed and stereotypes seem less striking but very present
in Rising Sun specially towards oriental people, women and Blacks. Fifty years ago, the release of
Dr. No, the famous fiction British master spy James Bondfilmstarring Sean Connery, launched one
of the longest running and most successful franchises in movie history. World needed a hero of
the cold war era and in real danger of nuclear war there was nothing to worry about so long as
Agent 007 was on the case. Bond was given a license to kill and to stereotype. As I watched first
James Bond movie Dr. No a big smile was present on my face during most of the movie because so
many actions taken by the universal hero Bond seemed incorrect today. The 007 movies are

difficult time in American history where fear of the orient was still very real 20 years after
attack on Pearl Harbor. Around 150.000 Japanese US citizens were placed in camps during the
Second War World II. The evil character Dr.No rejected the authority and works for one purpose

uniform, his metal hand is a symbol of power and it is a hybrid between nature technology and
lack of humanity. In fact, in this movie, every Asian character with a substantial role is played by
a white actor in yellowface. Unfortunately, this makes it blatantly obvious from the moment we

In his research Rogers identified six elements which are necessary in a counselling relationship for
therapeutic change or growth to occur. Three of these elements are closely associated with the
personal qualities which the counsellor brings to their relationship with clients. These are now
famously referred to as the core conditions. The first of these core conditions is empathy, which has
been described as the ability to feel what it s like to walk in someone else s shoes, and is very
different from sympathy, as this touching animation explains. The second condition is referred to
as Unconditional Positive Regard (UPR) and it is perhaps closely related to unconditional love.

STRENGTHS OF GESTALT APPROACH
1.It relies on creative efforts
The client in relation to the therapist uses the links and connections aided through psychotherapy
and counseling in finding out new and creative solutions to otherwise seemingly closed ended
problems.
2.It has respect for the issues of client in context
The emotional and psycho social issues of client are addressed in a way suited to context of the
problem. As this approach believes in problem in relation to context.
3.It helps the client to find own ways to solve a problem by linking the emotional barriers and issues
The client is able to track the trajectory from past to present and how various down links are
connected and where are the actual issues.
4.It is more caring and supportive
This approach is social in nature and cares for the client in a comprehensive and thorough manner
instead of tracking spots and blaming singular behaviors.
5.It has more social responsibility
Gestalt also is a more socially responsible approach as it helps the therapist to aid the treatment of
client on a bigger level with motives to improve the overall life and its interests.

The Impact Of Internet On The Information Industry After...
SCOPE
This era of computing and communication will extend beyond the realm of the traditional desktops,
laptops and even mobile devices. The Internet of Things aims to extend the Internet services into the
real world day to day objects. Internet of Things is essentially an intelligent network of a wide array
of devices (information sensing devices) exchanging information and interacting with each other via
the Internet and within the boundaries of certain protocols. We can thus characterize IoT as an
ecosystem of connected people, objects and services, enabled by a pervasive and transparent
technology designed to improve our quality of life. Internet of Things (IoT) can be envisaged as the
single greatest technological wave in the information industry after the magnanimous Internet.
According to Garter s technology cycle curve, the interest in IoT reached its peak in 2014 and
ranks second in the top technological trends that would dominate in 2015 [1].
Even though the IoT trend seems pervasive, unified and seamless, there are still several factors that
need to be taken care of before the actual deployment of a full fledged IoT network. The Internet of
Things currently lacks in theory, structure and standards that integrate the Internet with the real
world sensing devices. Some of these factors include the provisioning low powered nodes,
identification and locating the devices and being able to provide secure communication between
them, distributed intelligence among many

The water level (observed) and water level (simulated) water levels and the variation over time
were graphed below in figure 5.
Figure 5 Predicted vs. experimental h comparison
The data shown in figure 5 demonstrates the adequacy of the Level Pool Routing approximation.
The two water levels run very closely with very little error. The difference between the two can be
attributed to human error when reading the observed times during the experiment.
Conclusion and Recommendations:
A level pool routing experiment was carried out to determine the adequacy of results obtained
through simulated flood routing. The experiment yielded experimental results from which
calculations of inflow; storage and discharge over a weir were obtained. The Energy Grade line
from the tank to the pipe outlet was observed as well as the relationship between the tank discharge
to the square root of height. Noted from this was that height was the driving force of flow from the
tank.
Following, a Puls flood routing method was used to simulate the event again with theoretical
values. The relationship between discharge and discharge with storage over time was obtained and
used to calculate theoretical values of discharge and water Level. These were compared with
experimental results and a strong correlation was observed.
Reservoir routing yielded reliable results which

Cane Toads Analysis
In this set of materials, the reading passage states the attempts to stop the spreading of cane toads
in Australia and provides three reasons of support. While in the listening, the speaker opposes the
passage and says that the attempts are unsuccessful and could cause environmental damage. Also,
she refutes each of the author s reasons. First of all, the reading passage claims that building
fences could stop the spreading of can toads. This was done before with rabbits and prevent their
spreading to a new area. However, the speaker counters this point and illustrates that the young
cane toads and the eggs are found on the river and streams. These rivers could float at any time
carrying the eggs and the young cane toads to new area.

Ozone Pollution Essay
The Effects of Ozone Pollution
The term ozone has appeared in numerous magazine and newspaper articles and has been a subject
of discussion on both radio and television. Despite all the publicity surrounding this term, however,
many people are still confused by it. The confusion arises from the fact that ozone is both beneficial
and harmful. We know that the ozone layer in the upper atmosphereacts as a filter for the sun s
ultraviolet rays, reducing the amount of radiation that reaches the earth s surface. At ground level,
though, high concentrations of ozone can be harmful.
The Ozone Layer
Ozone gas forms a layer all around the earth high in the stratosphere. It serves as a vital and
effective protective barrier from the sun s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When levels are high, people at risk should take simple precautions:
Stay indoors as much as possible.
Limit outside activities to the early morning hours or after sunset. Ozone levels tend to go down
with the sun.
Refrain from exercising or working vigorously outdoors when levels are high.
Stay away from high traffic areas, and avoid exercising near these areas at all times.
Carpool or use public transportation to help reduce the amount of harmful emissions in the air that
contribute to the production of ozone.
Avoid using gasoline powered lawn equipment or other gasoline powered tools.
Big Differences
The distinction between the two ozone issues В— the beneficial ozone layer versus ozone pollution
В— is extreme. The ozone layer in the stratosphere needs to be protected. By the same token, ozone
produced by the effects of sunlight on air pollutants must be reduced.
Controlling air pollution will help solve both of these problems, thereby benefiting our health and

Improving The Situation At The Engstrom Auto Mirror Plant
In this portion of my case analysis, I will be showing ways for suggested solutions in order to help
improve the situation at the Engstrom Auto Mirror Plant. I will be showing ways in which
organizational improvement outcomes can directly help remedy some of the issues and recommend
strategic actions that would lead the organization in a proactive production workforce. The
recommendations are creating committees, rework how the Scanlon Plan bonus works, create or
use their marketing and sales department to the full capacity, and to help empower the workforce

Engstrom should provide a space in which workforce can communicate by having managers listen
to them and asking them questions. People generally know the right answers if they have the
opportunity to produce them. For Engstrom creating teams and committees with members from

The Rocket Boys
The Rocket Boys Homer Hickam Jr. For my reading assignment, I chose The Rocket Boys by
Homer Hickam Jr. It is an autobiography written more like a fiction novel about a high school
aged boy, Homer, who lived in a coal mining town named Coalwood. His father ran the coal mine
and wanted his son to follow in his footsteps but Homer did not want to become a miner. He
wanted to grow up to be a rocket engineer. Homer and his father were never great friends and this
built tension between them all the way through Homer s high school years. This passion for
rockets began while Homer was watching the Russians launch a satellite into space for the first

That was when almost as if someone had pulled a string, my stomach and head stopped hurting.
Socially, Homer always seemed fine. He had a great group of friends the rocket boys throughout
the story. By the end of the book, his social circumstances were even better as Homer was
regarded as almost a small town hero in Coalwood after winning the science fairs. He still had a
great group of friends that he was with since before and during high school and the community
liked him and his friends a lot; this most evident after listening to the people watching the boys
drive to their last launch: Some people saw the rocket sticking out of the window, and shouts of
encouragement rang out. The rocket boys, hoo! We re proud of you boys! A OK, all systems
go! . People from all over the county respected the boys, especially Homer. Homer was in great
shape at the end of the book physically, emotionally, and socially, having stayed true to what he
wanted to do, and sticking with his friends. Personally, I like Homer. He tries to please everyone
he knows with whatever he does. He seems genuine and puts a lot of work into everything he
does. One thing I noticed about Homer that is most admirable is that he did not give up when he
needed something. If he needed to get supplies for his rockets, he would do whatever he could to
get them. He would trade for supplies, do

Cause And Effects Of The Korean War
Recently there has been a few state actors who are now threating the United States much more then
they have in the past. The foremost and greatest threat to the U.S. is North Korea as it stands right
now. This was confirmed by Defense Secretary James Mattis stating, North Korea s advancing
missile and nuclear programs were the most urgent threat to national security and that its means to
deliver them had increased in speed and scope (Ali, 2017). Over the past six months, the Korean
Warpart II has been slowly starting to take shape and threat of war could be looming in the future.
The Korean War, which started 67 years ago, which has technically never ended, led to the deaths
of about 600,000 North Korean and 1 million South Koreans, along with hundreds of thousands of
U.S. troops (Berlinger, 2017). The legacy of the brutal war lives on in North Korea, where key
pieces of propaganda are still used by the regime today. The world is closely watching the tug of
war between the world s super power and the lonely North Koreans, having both President
Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un aware of the immense cost of the another Korean
War (Berlinger, 2017). Defense Secretary James Mattis stated: both the U.S. and North Korea
have proved over time they can demonstrate restraint, de escalate a crisis and step back from the
brink of war. Both have interest in avoiding a war, which would be in nobody s best interest. If
this goes to a military solution, it is going to be

Humor In The Devil Is A Part-Timer
Furthermore, it is important to understand how humor functions within The Devil is a Part Timer
in order to see how it brings to light the problems of the part time working world. For human beings,
humor is a significant part of verbal communication, which in turn makes humor an important part
of any type of communication based media, such as television. One study done by Professor Joanne
Cantor at the University of Wisconsin implies that almost eighty two percent of all television

The superiority theory notes that people laugh outwardly or inwardly at others because they feel
some sort of triumph over them or feel superior in someway to them, for example parents laughing
at the the misunderstandings of their children. When communicators, or narratives, use this type
of humor they make their audiences feel superior in the sense that they [the audience] are brought
up to a more equal relationship with the speaker (Meyer 314, 318). Although allowing an
audience to feel superior to the character within a show may seem negative at first, due to the fact
that it separates the audience from the characters mentally, in reality by deprecating Maou and

use of superiority style humor, the show is able to make the two more human. The audience is

An Article For The American Journal Of Bioethics
There are individuals in our societies, though, who believe that the dignity of life and human nature
are not important in the debate of bioethics and enhancements. Fabrice Jotterand, who wrote an
article for the American Journal of Bioethics, discussed in his article that bioenhancements do not
corrupt the rational and moral structure of humanpersonhood using the definition of dignity of
German philosopher Immanuel Kant, which is that persons have [an] intrinsic worth or dignity
derived from the rational and moral structure of human personhood (qtd. in Jotterand 46). If
anything, Jotterand states, enhancements would improve the rational mind instead of
dehumanizing it; augmenting human dignity and respecting life because enhancements are meant
to transcend our biological nature beyond its human limits and capabilities (46, 48). However, a
flaw in Jotterand s argument is that it entails both the respect for human life and the equality of
humans, which should guide biotechnology together (46). The Church declares that in attempting to
transcend life, one would break the bonds of our human nature and biology, thus interrupting in the
communion of life shared among horizontal, human relationships and the vertical relationship
between humanity and God. Contrary to Jotterand s beliefs, this communion of life would be set
apart instead of equal, with discrimination of those with or without enhancements due to finances,
location, or other factors. If society cannot end

The Importance Of Professionalism And Professional Behavior
According to me, Professionalism and professional behavior is very context specific. It requires us
to behave appropriately at all times and in all situations. Professionalism requires us to make
difficult judgments and requires us to challenge poor practices and unacceptable behaviour and
attitudes. A person should be easily approachable, polite, courteous, respectable and confident.
Having dignity and self respect is also very professional.
Shaking another professional hands firmly, maintaining a proper and distinct eye contact, shaking
your head and replying to everything another fellow says all contribute to professionalism.
We keep on telling ourselves that we need to meet more people and that our circle of influence
needs to be strengthened. We always want out skills and talents to be discovered. Our career
requires us to network. In today s competitive and dynamic world, we all have to be more
professional than ever. Networking requires a strategic approach that we can learn from while
introducing ourselves to professionals. Being strategic and viewing networking through an
opportunity vision can prove to be a powerful professional development.
As a college student, I display professionalism every moment of my day. Be it with fellow
student, a professor, a teacher s assistant or even the college employees. I always keep the door
open if there someone behind me who needs to enter the room too. I always maintain eye contact
with someone who is speaking to me. I refer

How Is Piggy Mature In Lord Of The Flies
Piggy, from Lord of the Flies, displays a mature perspective in a childish, chaotic atmosphere. The
author, William Golding, presents Piggy as a plump, spectacle wearing schoolboy, diagnosed with
asthma (7 9). The fragile appearance and lung disease of the stout student suggests his physical
vulnerability. The young boy speaks childlike since he talks in sentence fragments; however, this
still steadies the fat boy s character because he constructs most of the boys helpful ideas (10 15).
When so called Fatty spots Ralph on the island, he frequently mentions his aunt due to the fact he
lives with her (9 16). The asthmatic instantly realizes the adults on the plane died, leaving them on a
stranded island, while the other boys immediately accept their fates by imprudently developing an
anarchic state (14).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These indicate that he thinks more practically than the others. Although the chief s assistant
holds intelligent ideas, the irrational boys rudely interrupt before the rational boy speaks;
therefore, leading to the sensitive child to rant on how abused he feels by crying, That s what I
said! I said about our meetings and things and then you said shut up (43). Golding reveals the
matured boy s task of an adult when he compares the English pupil s face to the martyred
expression of a parent who has to keep up with the senseless ebullience of the children (38). The
quote infers the outcast s frustration with having the parents job by watching the children run
wildly. The caring juvenile also desires fairness, unlike the rest. The cordial schoolboy reveals
wanting nobody else to experience bullying when he supports a shy, embarrassed shrimp of a boy
in talking in front of the meeting (35). Golding writes, Let him have the

The Social Responsibility Of Corporations Essay
Abstract
This paper explores the importance of social responsibility within corporations. This paper also
explores The Social Responsibility of Business is to Increase its Profits by Milton Friedman and
his stance on social responsibility. Friedman believed that corporations should not waste money on
new initiatives if it was just to appease the public, especially if it went above what laws required.
Examples are shown how corporations must listen to the customer or it could hurt the profitability
of the corporation, with social media being a big tool to press issues. Also discussed are laws that
support socially responsible initiatives such as pollution reduction that direct and provide incentives
for businesses. Keywords: Milton Friedman, The Social Responsibility of Business is to Increase its
Profits, social media, social responsibility, Smuckers, GMO, genetically modified organisms, The
Pollution Prevention Act of 1990
The Goal of the Firm
According to Investopedia, Milton Friedman was an American economist and statistician known
for his strong beliefs in free market capitalism. Friedman was also opposed to any government
ran programs that regulated policy that was used for the purpose of fueling business activity and
employment. In 1970, Friedman wrote an article labeled The Social Responsibility of Business is
to Increase its Profits . The basic premise of the article was to argue that business should not worry

Three Messages From Rime Of The Ancient Mariner Analysis
Three Messages From Rime
( An Analysis of Three Messages from Rime of the Ancient Mariner )
In the poem Rime of the Ancient Mariner an old man spots a young kid, and just knows that he
must talk to him and tell him his story. Various feelings, emotions and actions are expressed
throughout this old man s story, and for whatever reason the young boy not only hears but
completely listens to what the man has to say. After the man s story was done, there were three
messages that came form his story and were now passed onto to the young boy s mind. Three of the
messages that stuck out the most in this poem were, the definite distinction between the young and
the old, the next messages would be guilt, and lastly having a respect for nature would be the last of
the three messages that came about throughout this story.
Many things can make the distinction between the old and the young. For instance, as young
adults, or even young kids, it is often that we get discredited and dehumanized for all that we do
and of course because of the age that we are. Young people, have the reputation for being
immature and unknowledgeable. This for some reason is how it s been for ages. Now on the
other hand, elders or anyone i d say thirty and up are known as more knowledgeable and definitely
more mature. Simply because they have walked this earth far longer than the youngins. Older
people see the world and life differently than younger people do. It s

Cognitive Therapy
In clinical settings, cognitive therapy has been utilized effectively to remedy depression.
Understandably so, as it relates to automatic thoughts, much consideration has been given to its
effects resulting in various studies focusing on cognitive approaches that would improve symptoms.
Moreover, the evaluation of multiple variables could impact the projected eventual outcome
behaviors of patients if assessments lack generalization. Recent studies have found that though
there is solid evidence of Automatic Thought Questionnaire factorial validity in the western
literature, support from non western exploration remains insufficient (Oei, 2008). In non western

Statistical analysis confirmed the concurrent validity of the ATQ Malay. Exploratory analysis
revealed a 2 factor solution accounting for 51% total variance and subsequent confirmatory analysis
confirmed the 2 factor was acceptable for data (negative self concept/negative expectations and
personal maladjustment). Research findings further explain that though the structures of schemas
that predispose individuals to depression in different socio cultural context, the final depressive
state, in terms of self related automatic negative thoughts, may have generality across cultures (Oei,
2008). Furthermore, effective interventions depend on associated factors that influence treatment
outcome. Cognitive therapy has been useful in intervention for depression in various clinical
settings, conversely, in Kuyken s study, (as cited in Elkin et al., 1989; Evans et al., 1992) rates of
dropout, poor outcomes, and relapse are just as significant (Kuyken, 2004). Therefore, hopelessness
non responsiveness early in therapy is a predictor of the eventual outcome in contrast to
hopelessness severity at intake (Kuyken, 2004). To support this claim, structured clinical interviews
and psychological assessments were conducted on 122 outpatients who were diagnosed with
unipolar depression. All participants received recorded cognitive therapy by diagnosticians and
those tapes substantiated inter rater reliability. Assessments of

Thoughts and Ideas on Saphire s quot;Push quot; Essay
The book entitled Push , written by Sapphire, is one of the most shocking books that I have ever
read. The story revolves around the life of one Precious Jones. Her life is scarred with rape,
molestation, pregnancy, poverty, the HIV virus, illiteracy, and countless other instances which
could be classified as unfortunate. My initial reaction to this novelwas that I couldn t believe that
all of these bad things can happen to one person. It seemed that as the text progressed, we found
out more troubling details of Precious life. At the begging in it was tough to fully comprehend
what was being said, as Precious writing included allot of misspelled words, unnecessary words,
repetitiveness, and often times words used in an incorrect... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Another factor in her perseverance was her friend from the alternative school by the name of
Jermaine. Precious was inspred by Jermaine in many ways. Jermaine was a good friend and also
was one of the best writers in the Each One, Teach One classes.
Also, when thinking about the determination of Precious, I remember a small detail that changed
from the beginning of the novel. Early on in the story, Precious says Reeboks, white! Better than
Nikes? No, next shits I get be Nikes!. Towards the end of the novel Precious then says I look up
from my shoes, Nikes; girls got they hand up.. Now I know, that something as small as a pair of
shoes shouldn t really be important in a story full of all of many achievements, however, I feel that
these statements were really important. Its was something that was significant of Precious coming
up through the world, even if her circumstances were far more sever than many other human beings.
Another theme that I noticed throughout the book, was the idea of people being brainwashed
by their society. This idea will also be present in the readings for next week as I will be reading
The Shawl. In that book, the people being brainwashed are the citizens of nazi Germany, while in
this present novel, the people being brainwashed are the people of Harlem, a ghetto in New York.

The Writings Of Karl Marx

Final Paper: Question #9 The writings of Karl Marx, Max Weber, and Emile Durkheim each set
out to discuss how an individual is connected to their social standing within society. Along with
how social classes form their beginnings. Each of their theories are complex and require thorough
analysis in order to fully understand their point of view. How social class is obtained in the United
States is the question being posed. I will discuss which theory I personally think is best and
most applicable to our modern society. I will thoroughly compare and contrast the works of
Marx, Weber, and Durkheim; along with pointing out strengths and weaknesses in all three. It is
first important to understand the meaning of social class. Sociologically speaking, the term
social class is a way to divide individuals based upon their economic and social standing within
the larger system of economic production. In the United States, the five most common social
classes include: upper class elite, upper middle class, lower middle class, working class, and poor.
It is assumed that the more money one has, the higher their class status will be however there is
always the possibility for outliers. Social class controls several aspects of our lives and is an
extremely important factor when determining potential opportunities. Karl Marx is a sociological
theorist who had great influence over how we currently look at social class. According to Marx,

The Health Care System Within The United States
Although the health care system within the United States has operated on a fee for service system
in which a provider benefits by being paid per treatment or procedure given to a patient, the Patient
Protection and Affordable Care Act has influenced us to look into alternative forms of provider
reimbursement. One form of reimbursement that has recently been highlighted as a potential
means to lower health care expenditures are bundled payments, which are also known as episode
based payment. Bundled payments are being touted as a means to reduce national health
expenditures, increase coordination of care, and improve quality of care; however like any other
form of provider reimbursement there are advantages as well as disadvantages that need to be
analyzed.
A bundled payment provides a physician with a set amount of money upfront in order to efficiently
treat a patient s condition; the amount of money is determined on the basis of a specific condition.
A bundled payment provides an estimated reimbursement for all in patient and outpatient services
needed for an episode of care. For instance if a patient fractures their hip and needs hip replacement
surgery, a bundled payment will provide reimbursement for all hospitalservices, surgical implants,
all costs of physician services provided and will cover costs related to the episode within ninety
days after being discharged from the hospital. The majority of bundled payment programs offered
are for episodes of care such as

Russia s Violation of International Law As a result of their current manipulative actions in Crimea,
Russia has shown a willful disregard for the Treaty it signed at the Fourth Geneva Convention in
1949, wherein all civilians are entitled to protection from armed conflict between two countries.
Geneva Conventions broadly outline the fundamental rights of wartime detainees for all citizens
and military personnel, create assurances for the injured and debilitated, and set up insurances for
citizens in and around a battle region. In this manner, the Geneva Convention has made rules and
guidelines to ensure that all humanity is entitled to basic rights. The Fourth Geneva ... Show more

In turn, this would lead to subtle influences by Russia. Russia has demonstrated by its recent
actions that it is driven by power and greed. It has shown a willful ignorance of civilian
casualties as it has they want what Cremia has to offer. The real question is what does Crimea
have that Russia wants that bad that they are breaking the Fourth Geneva Convention for? Well
Cremia is very rich in natural oil and gas which they want to help because Russia Siberian
energy reserves are dwindling. Cremia is also known for its amazing seaside cliffs and summer
mansions which does attract a lot of tourists. Russia has also taken down major water plants which
have cut off Ukrainians from water supply. Back in 1947 Joseph Stalin who was the leader of the
Soviet Union party signed the Fourth Geneva Convention to ensure a good future for his country
and people. Look at what Putin has done he is disrespecting his predecessor who built his country
and signed this treaty.
Casualties
By first attacking and annexing Crimea with stealth powers and after moving into and possessing
eastern parts of Ukraine, Putin was sending clear flags to his neighbors that endeavors to
democratize, change, and incorporate all the more intimately with Western establishments like the

Thompson, in his chapter excerpt Public Thinking, from the book Smarter Than You Think: How

This is extremely relevant to the topic of the audience effect. This evidence is used to persuade us
that the audience effect does exist for the better, just like when an author posts a blog for the entire
world to view. Thompson used a survey of mathematicians about the question of multiples. He
argues that with more communication, we can use better teamwork to discover solutions more
efficiently. The respondents were asked if they did the same work as another person unknowingly.
31% agreed to this statement and noted that if they worked together, they think they would have
completed the task more efficiently. I question its credibility because of the anonymity of the
surveyors and the ambiguity of the methods. However, I find the opinions shared by the
mathematicians very valuable because they are one of the best at what they do. I do find this
evidence sufficient because professionals were interviewed. Thompson includes this survey
because it clearly supports his claim. I find this extremely relevant to because it is about the topic
of interconnections and can be strongly, positively correlated to the lack of communication before.
Thompson uses anecdotes that are easily relatable and have a great expression of feelings. One of
them is about the experiences of Ory Okolloh, a Kenyan law student studying in the United States,
blogging about the tragic current events of her home

Media s Impact on Politics Essay
Here in America, we try to pay close attention to everything that goes on in the government.
Whatever decision they make we want to know when, where, why, and how. This is because
whatever decision that they make will determine what will happen with this country as a whole in
the long run. So what is the best way to find out what s going on with our government? Why the
media of course. The media plays a major part in every aspect of the government including what
happens in elections, the reporting of major military operations and how the American peoplewill
react to certain political situations or scandals. Here are some the ways that the media affects the
way we think when it comes to the government.

One recent case where the mass media poked fun at and satirized the government was the year 2000
election. In the time where ballots and votes became confused and the state of Florida became the
punch line to many a water cooler joke, shows such as the ones above took the story and ran with it.
From the very beginning the satire of political figures played its role in the election. According to
the Washington Post and the Pew Research Center, 47 percent of Americans under the age of 30
receive around 26% of their information about candidates, amongst other political matters, through
late night comedy television. This trend has been labeled by many Infotainment. The viewers are
receiving information about political issues and their government, but through a sarcastic or
humorous filter that creates a different culture of informed citizens.
When the poll results in the 2000 election came in, the jokes seemed to last longer than the re
counts. Even now 3 years later the jokes continue to be evoked. Recently at the academy awards,
while on stage to receive his academy award for his very humorous gun control documentary
Bowling for Columbine Michael Moore called George W. Bush a fictitious president while
following with jokes about the pope and the Dixie chicks.

Illusion vs. Reality A Streetcar Named Desire Essay
Illusion vs. Reality A Streetcar Named Desire Tennessee Williams uses the constant battle
between illusion and reality as a theme throughout his play A Streetcar Named Desire. Many use
illusion to escape the reality they are living in. This theme is present in all of his characters in

Harold Mitchell, also known as Mitch buys into Blanches illusions. He is overtaken by her

In all of these instances illusion plays a key role in a way for the characters to do away with the
lives they do not want to be living. Although, not all characters are living in illusion Tennessee
Williams does include some who face reality. Stanley Kowalski, Stella s husband, is strictly a
reality based character. He is constantly looking into Blanches real past. He sees through all of
her illusions and wants the truth to things. This is proved in the rape scene when Stanley turns
Blanche into the victim as she had made herself out to be throughout the play. Eunice the
character who lives in the upstairs of the house with the Kowalski s. She knows how untrue
Stanley is to Stella and is always telling her to face reality and not put up with how she is treated
like garbage from him. Towards the end of the play Mitch finally overlooks Blanches illusions
and begins to question her by telling her how he has never seen her in the light and asks her age.
Mitch s sick mother helps to keep him focused in the real things in his life by having him put
aside all other things to take care of the one who cared for him. Escaping your reality and living
in an illusion world will leave you blind to the things around you. In some cases, if you are strong
enough to withhold from the illusions around you, you may end up in the reality, like Mitch. Both

Wolfram Syndrome Essay
Overview Wolfram syndrome Type 1 is caused by a mutation in the WFS1 gene. Wolfram
Syndrome is commonly referred to as DIDMOAD because of the different types of diseases the
mutation of this gene can lead to including diabetes mellitus, diabetes insipidus, optic atrophy, and
deafness. Normally the WFS1 geneproduces the protein wolframin which helps regulate calcium
in the cells, but when it is mutated the resulting protein is inactive or has a reduced function
(AU/ Wolfram syndrome 2015). When this protein is not working correctly organs in the body
will trigger apoptosis or dead of their own cells which then cause the complications that are
known for occurring when the WFS1 gene is altered. Wolframin is also important within many
parts of the body affecting systems like our bones, lungs, liver, pancreas, kidneys, heart and other
organs. Although this is a rare autosomal recessive neurodegenerative disease that is found in one
out of 550,000 children and has a carrier frequency of one in 354 it is important to recognize the
debilitating effects it can have on the body (Aloi et al. 2012). Gene Loci The location of the WFS1

The Problem Of Fertility Treatment
Fertility treatment is utilized when a couple is not able to conceive naturally. Most commonly, the
underlying problem could be medical. For instance, a woman may not be ovulating or a man may
not be producing enough amount of or healthy sperm.Depending on the causative problem, various
forms of treatment are offered different to the couples. Usually, couples try treatments for many
months or even years . However, these are not always effective. In addition , these treatments can
be quite costly. However, if successful , these can bring pleasure and happiness in the lives of the
struggling couples. The following options may be available for childless couples: IVF(In Vitro
Fertilisation),AI(Artificial Insemination) ,AIH(Artificial Insemination by Husband),AID(Artificial

The issue of infertility can be heart wrenching specifically for couples who have wanted to have
children all their lives. In the Holy Bible , we read several stories about temporary infertility .

Background: Sarah Blakely, the founder and owner of Spanx, was born February 27, 1971 in
Clearwater, Florida. As a daughter of a trial attorney and artist, Blakely originally planned to
pursue a career in law. Though, due to poor LSAT scores she opted for a job at Disney World.
After Disney, Blakely accepted a job at an office supply company Danka where she sold fax
machines door to door. For this job, she was required to wear pantyhose. While she liked the
seamless undergarment with control top that eliminated panty lines , she disliked the seamed foot
while wearing open toed shoes. So one evening she experimented by cutting off the bottom of her
pantyhose and then wore them under a new pair of pants. Even though the pantyhose continuously

First, persistence is essential for success. She demonstrated how often you will be turned away
or rejected when starting a business but it s important to keep going. There were many times
she could have decided it was too much work or too hard. But instead, she continue to promote
her idea and kept pursuing individuals to help her reach her goal. From reading about her
success, it was clear she worked extremely hard to get where she is today and it came from a lot
persistence. The second lesson I learned from Blakely is to believe in yourself. She didn t have
any experience designing clothing or manufacturing a product, but she believed in herself. She did
the research into designing a patent, contacted several manufacturing mills (even driving across
state lines) and further promoted her product in stores. Even though she didn t have any financial
support or an established company behind her, she believed in her product and her capabilities.
The third lesson, it s not wrong to view your competition. In the past, I might have thought it was a
little cheating or considered sneaky to find the flaws in your competitors products. But realistically,
it s a very smart business move. She taught me look for opportunities even if it s comparing your
product to the competition. I believe this strategy really helped her product sell better than the other

The Tragedy Of Medea By Euripides
Medea
The characters in Medea by Euripides have no free will; the gods control all. Consequently, the
concept, Divine Double Bind, described by the author Ruth Padel in Whom Gods Destroy as
Divinity issues prohibitions (do not kill your mother), forces you to break them, then punishes
you for doing so (215) explains perfectly the actions and ultimate fates of Medea, Jason, King
Creon and his daughter, the chorus leader, and the two sons. Many of Medea s actions, which
offend the gods, and the subsequent consequences for such actions throughout the story exhibit the
Divine Double Blind concept. Medea starts off by offending the gods when, according to Jason,
Medea s husband, she slaughtered [her] brother in [her] home (81), and then, as is explained by the
nurse, Medea s servant, she causes Pelias daughter to kill their father (32). Medea s first misdeed
is thus murder, and although it is through Medea s actions that these crimes are committed,
because the gods control all the mortals, the gods are actually the ones who made her do them.
Sticking with the Divine Double Blind concept, the gods punish Medea by having her marriage
to Jason fall apart. The nurse recites that their fine love s grown sick, diseased, for Jason . . .
married the daughter of king Creon (32). Jason has neglected Medea and married another woman,
which Medea responds to with rage. She kills again, this time targeting Jason s new wife and her
father, King Creon. Medea has her

Biography of Guy De Maupassant
Guy De Maupassant was born on August 5th, 1850 at the ChГўteau de Miromesnil. He was born to
his mother and father Laure Le Poittevin and Gustave de Maupassant. At a young age his
parents divorced, he and his brother lived with his mom for most of his life. Laure was highly
involved in his life, she is the first person to show him the love for classical literature. As he
grew up that love grew stronger and stronger. After he graduated college, he enlisted into the
Franco Prussian War. Although he served, and had other jobs afterwards he was not a very
ambitious man. He would rather spend his time and energy writing than doing his job. Many of
his stories took place during the Franco Prussian War. To me his stories were twisted and
depressing. His early life was not exactly the easiest of lives. When Maupassant was 11, his
parents separated, and he was brought up by his mother in the picturesque coastal town of
Г‰tretat (Liukkonen). This affects the way he thinks, therefore the way he writes his stories. I
also believe that the war had a great effect on his writings. During the time of the war, many
aspects of life weren t exactly joyful. I feel that the way the world around him was depressing,
which influenced him to write more depressing stories. His subjects include war, the Norman
peasantry, the bureaucracy, life on the banks of the Seine, the emotional problems of the different
classes, and, ominously, hallucination (Britannica). It could have been a way for

A Report into Consumer Behavioural Theory and its Implications for Benecol s Marketing Strategy
Executive Summary * Understanding consumer behaviour allows us to engage more effectively
with our target market and increase sales * It is vital we understand the needs of our target market
and their motivation for purchasing Benecol or alternative products. * Giving Value to a product
after we understand our consumers needs and motivation for purchase can increase positive
interaction with our market. * When marketing a product, it is advised that the advertisement
attaches itself best to the needs and value of consumers with relevant and engaging information. *

However, the value the product gives to the consumer from a marketing perspective will be
discussed in greater details through other behavioural theories as the above chart is too rudimentary
to give explicit argument to Benecol s potential without more exploration.
Information Processing
Something highly intrinsic to the product value of Benecol is the emphasis on being the only range
of foods to contain Plant Stanol Ester, a unique cholesterol lowering ingredient. (Rasio Plc., 2011).
Getting this information to the public through advertising happens through the brand website, but
on television the advertising is focused on basic prompts that will motivate the audience into
believing in the benefits of using the product. One example is the latest UK advert which places
stress on the convenience of the product with a line in fairly small print about the plant stanol ester
underneath the visual of how easy it can be to help lower cholesterol. The information of stanols is
considered secondary in marketing the convenience product and therefore is only likely absorbed
by those already interested in the product or the advertising.
Dissonance
This theory is based on a consumer s cognitive struggle where two beliefs that are reasoned to be
true are not consistent. This process of a cognitive clash brings about a motivation to come to a
positive conclusion where a psychological compromise can occur to bring

Cover Art Research
Compared to traditional art forms that have been around for millennia, other forms of art have
produced millions of objects, and images by almost as many artists. Graphics arts, a relative new
comer to the world of art is still in its infancy. With a history stretching back only 25 years, this
paper begin with a brief history of this art form. In the First paragraph the paper expands on the
history and highlights the advancements this style of art has seen over the last two decades. Cover
art has made prominent contributions within three main styles transitioning among them over the
years. Hand drawn images, film photography art, and digital art. The very first video gamewas
founded in the late 1940 s games used interactive electronic devices with various display formats.
The earliest example is from 1947 a Cathode ray tube Amusement Device was filed for a patent
on 25 January 1947, by Thomas T. Goldsmith Jr. and Estle Ray Mann, and issued on 14
December 1948, as U.S. Patent, inspired by radar display tech, it consisted of an analog device
that allowed a user to control a vector drawn dot on the screen to simulate a missile being fired at
targets, which were drawings fixed to the screen .Video games had no representational images or
art they were moving blocks and simulations during the 1950s and 1960s. This all changed during
the arcade era in the 1970s, with the creation of arcade games and the rise of the early Nintendo.
Games such as Mario, Atari, Duck hunt, Mike

Nitrogen is used by plants in order to synthesize protein...
Nitrogen is used by plants in order to synthesize protein peptide bonds and for cell growth. Not
only is this nutrient required in the largest quantity by plants, but it is also the most frequently
limiting factor when it comes to productivity in crops. Plants cannot use nitrogen in the air and in
the soil system it is lost easily. Because of this plants are forced to obtain nitrogenin the form of
nitrateand ammonium from the soil. Too much nitrate can cause a negative effect on the plant
including nitrate toxicity. High levels of nitrate are not only bad for plants but can also be
dangerous to animals or humans in their presence. Here I discuss the scientific evidence of the
effects of nitrate accumulation on plants and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the rate at which the nitrate is reduced is lower then uptake, then accumulation of large amounts
of nitrate can occur. No accumulation occurs when the rate of uptake equals the rate of reduction.
Accumulation of nitrate usually results from plant stress, such as drought, and is made more
prominent by excessive soil nitrogen. Other forms of plant stress that cause accumulation of nitrate
involve the restriction of plant growth while the absorption of nitrate from soil still continues.
Some of these forms include certain herbicides, frost, acid soils, deficiencies of essential nutrients,
low growing temperatures, and finally reduced sunlight. Due to the fact that nitrate accumulation
builds up the most in plant stems instead of leaves. (3) Nitrate content in vegetables is influenced
primarily by light intensity and nitrogen fertilization. Diurnal changes in light intensity lead to a
diurnal pattern, a pattern that recurs every 24 hours as a result of one full rotation of the Earth, in
nitrate accumulation in plants. (4) When plants receive too much nitrogen in the form of nitrate
through its soil, it can have several detrimental effects on it. Too much nitrogen in plants can
deplete the plant s carbohydrate reserves more rapidly, stimulate rapid shoot growth while slowing
down root growth, and result in thinner more succulent leaf tissue, which increases moisture loss.
Other effects include predisposing the plant to greater insect

Alexander Mcqueen
Chapter One
The first designer that s inspired me this unit is Alexander McQueen, a British designer who broke
fashion, genre and designer boundaries from the beginning of his career till his suicide in 2010.
McQueen s work was often focused around contrasted elements and the energy between them,
creating structural and emotionally raw pieces, that were often misconstrued as misogynistic or
fetish.
I chose to investigate McQueen s work due to the romantic but determinedly contemporary (Dazed
article) edge to his work, and bold range of influences; leading him to create diverse collections
including many aesthetically and structurally urban pieces, but still within his electric, eccentric
(McQueen) style. His work is so inspiring me due to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has inspired me to explore the separate interpretations of urban , possibly exploring the
contrast between the two both the concepts and the effect they have on the shape and style of
designs.
Although very different to his later works in terms of shape and from, his trademark innovative
designing is still very bright here. This is a much more street style piece going back to his ethos of
making something practical that works in real life much more wearable Miyake. Also proving the
how widely urban influence can be interpreted into form.
Miyake s work is ever innovative and timeless. The geometric and form inspired designs mean it s
not focussed on a trend, leading it to stand alone. His slightly processed focussed work has really
helped me view deconstruct/ reconstruct as a concept, or perhaps a process, not just something that
can be shown aesthetically. As well as showing me the emotional connotations of exploring urban
as a topic, and how these can be so diversely represented through

  • 2. The Forest Of Gombe By Jane Goodall Before science is introduced to the human society, people always use religious beliefs to describe the mysterious phenomenon. However, as science becomes advanced, people gradually lost in the relationship between it and religious beliefs. In the essay In the Forest of Gombe , Jane Goodall spends long time with chimpanzees in the forests to recover from her husband s death. During this period, she learns new ideas from the chimps and finds herself back, and understands the complicated relationship between scientific ideas and religious beliefs. Thus, to uncover peace, people have to understand themselves first instead of focusing on problems permanently. People have the space to understand themselves when stay with animals, and learn many meaningful ideas from them. When people lost their families, they cannot accept it because they rarely face this kind of situations. Before her husband passes away, Goodall believes in god. However, after losing her husband, Goodall angry at the unjustness and starts to reject the god. To seek for healing, she decides to go to the forest and stay with chimpanzees in Gombe. However, in the forest, animals deal with death in a totally different way. Dead body can be finding everywhere and death is happening at all times. Thus, animals treat it normally. As Goodall says, And always there are the young ones to carry on the life of the species (146). Although old ones will passes away when they are old, but young ones are growing up and ... Cell Membrane Essay The normal cell membrane and the structure commonly called a basement membrane differ because: 0.5 points were deducted Incorrect: Choice A is correct because the basement membrane is where a cell attaches to the lining , so the basement membrane will always be outside the normal cell membrane as it is not a part of the actual enterocyte or keratinocyte cell, just where it attaches to. 7. Which of the following is an example or description of negative feedback? 0.5 points were deducted Incorrect: Choice B is correct because the working muscle gets hot and the blood that is being pumped into the muscles is cooler than the muscles themselves, so blood flow into the working skeletal muscle will cool the muscle back down. 8. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1.5 points were deducted Correct: Choice B is incorrect because too much carbohydrates lead to the cause of coliform bacteria to die, not acidophilic bacteria. Acidophilic bacteria means acid loving bacteria, so the heightened ph would not kill them, it would make more of them grow. If more of them grow, the LPS that causes inflammation is not circulating, because they would only circulate if the bacteria dies. Incorrect: Choice C is correct because acidosis degrades tight junctions between enterocytes in the colon and the cecum, which in turn lets more endotoxins from the bacteria into the blood that causes the inflammation in laminitis. Choice D is correct because the acidosis kills coliform bacteria, releasing LPS into the system and the LPS causes the inflammation that in turn reduces blood flow and kills the tissues that cause laminitis. 29. Insulin resistance could increase the likelihood of laminitis because: 1.5 points were deducted Incorrect: Choice A is correct because the stress of too much conversion of glucoseinto triglycerides can cause insulin resistance. According to American scientists, the Ebola virus originated from direct and indirect human contacts and animals in Guinea meanwhile the Zika virus was influenced by mosquitos from Brazil which makes pregnant women more vulnerable to the Zika virus than anyone else since it could lead to several birth defects. Even though the Zika virus was discovered more than 80 years ago, scientists still haven t made any progress in finding a cure. Fortunately, Mumbai scientists have stumbled upon the idea horse antibiotics can cleanse the Ebola virus spreading throughout the organ systems, not to mention that it s affordable for those from low income families but we still don t know if it ll work. As a result, every individual should understand how lethal the Ebola and Zika virus are due to it unknown vaccinationthat scientists are still trying to uncover. Arguments Apparently, there are more than 3000 species of mosquitoes living today and it s possible that any of those mosquitos we encounter may be infected with the Zika virus. Moreover, the Zika virus is extremely hazardous towards pregnant since it can lead to microcephaly which is a disorder that causes newborn babies to become retarded. On top of that, the Ebola is equally dangerous for all individuals who are being diagnosed this virus ascribed to how our organs will begin to fail ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The harmful effects of child labour can be seen in inadequate physical development, various illnesses and deformities, damage to their central nervous system, impoverishment of their mental faculties and indulgence in immoral acts. Family of the working child suffers the economic loss in the long run and loses social bonds and ties within family which may ultimately lead to family disorganisation. This survey focuses upon some specific dimensions of child labour like wages and hours of work of the child labourers in Agra district of the U.P. state of India. Total 500 child workers were chosen as respondents and Interview ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The incidence of earning money from childhood generates a feeling of independence among children due to which they like to behave freely and promiscuously and do not like to be subjected to control and discipline by other family members and are seen in many cases, even before marriage indulging in sexual acts. Thus the family not only suffers the economic loss in the long run but also becomes subjected to lose social bonds and ties within the family, and at times, even family disorganisation occurs. This survey study empirically investigates into dimensions of wage and working hours of child workers in Agra, U.P., India. REVIEW OF LITERATURE Khandekar and Naik (1972) observed that since the early years are meant to equip oneself with knowledge, techniques and skills for one s different adult roles in the society, having to take up a job at a young age to earn a living, is bound to affect the very process of growing up. Chakraborty (1991) found that wage rate of child labourers was nearly 69.43 percent and 64.48 percent of adult male wage rate in 1984 85 and 1986 87 respectively. But the man days of employment for adult males in agriculture and all other occupations were 242 and 257 and for children there were 307 and 315 respectively in 1984 and 1987. • 7. Support Vector Machines On Distributed Computers PSVM: Parallelizing Support Vector Machines on Distributed Computers Edward Y. Changв€ —, Kaihua Zhu, Hao Wang, Hongjie Bai, Jian Li, Zhihuan Qiu, Hang Cui Google Research, Beijing, China Abstract Support Vector Machines (SVMs) suffer from a widely recognized scalability problem in both memory use and computational time. To improve scalability, we have developed a parallel SVM algorithm (PSVM), which reduces memory use through performing a row based, approximate matrix factorization, and which loads only essential data to each machine to perform parallel computation. Let n denote the number of training instances, p the reduced matrix dimension after factorization (p is significantly smaller than n), and m the number of machines. PSVM reduces the memory requirement from O(n2) to O(np/m), and improves computation time to O(np2/m). Empirical study shows PSVM to be effective. PSVM Open Source is available for download at http://code.google.com/p/psvm/. 1 Introduction Let us examine the resource bottlenecks of SVMs in a binary classification setting to explain our proposed solution. Given a set of training data X = {(xi, yi)|xi в€€ Rd}ni=1, where xi is an obser vation vector, yi в€€ {в€’1,1} is the class label of xi, and n is the size of X, we apply SVMs on X to train a binary classifier. SVMs aim to search a hyperplane in the Reproducing Kernel Hilbert Space (RKHS) that maximizes the margin between the two classes of data in X with the smallest train ing error (Vapnik, 1995). My hands drugged acrossed the soft cold leather, the color of dark forest green and black. From the kitchen my mom yelled that my jacket was in the closet. I slowly opened the closet hoping my jacket was the one on my bed. Sure enough it was, right then I slipped into my jacket. It was a little big on me so I would have it for at least three years. Looking at the jacket I could see my future, all the girls around me, hanging out with the cool kids. It is like my jacket was one million dollars. I slipped my jacket back on and looked in the mirror and realized that I would look good if I combed my hair. My sleeves ran past my hands so I rolled the cuffs up, and ran down stairs and hugged my mom like there was no life left in her Thank you! I screamed. I sprinted outside with my new style of hair and jacket. As I was outside I tried to avoid my hungry dog, so I could show everyone how cool I was in my new slick jacket. Three of these elements are closely associated with the personal qualities which the counsellor brings to their relationship with clients. These are now famously referred to as the core conditions. The first of these core conditions is empathy, which has been described as the ability to feel what it s like to walk in someone else s shoes, and is very different from sympathy, as this touching animation explains. • 11. The Impact Of Internet On The Information Industry After... SCOPE This era of computing and communication will extend beyond the realm of the traditional desktops, laptops and even mobile devices. The Internet of Things aims to extend the Internet services into the real world day to day objects. Internet of Things is essentially an intelligent network of a wide array of devices (information sensing devices) exchanging information and interacting with each other via the Internet and within the boundaries of certain protocols. We can thus characterize IoT as an ecosystem of connected people, objects and services, enabled by a pervasive and transparent technology designed to improve our quality of life. Internet of Things (IoT) can be envisaged as the single greatest technological wave in the information industry after the magnanimous Internet. According to Garter s technology cycle curve, the interest in IoT reached its peak in 2014 and ranks second in the top technological trends that would dominate in 2015 [1]. Even though the IoT trend seems pervasive, unified and seamless, there are still several factors that need to be taken care of before the actual deployment of a full fledged IoT network. The Internet of Things currently lacks in theory, structure and standards that integrate the Internet with the real world sensing devices. Some of these factors include the provisioning low powered nodes, identification and locating the devices and being able to provide secure communication between them, distributed intelligence among many ... Figure 5 Predicted vs. experimental h comparison The data shown in figure 5 demonstrates the adequacy of the Level Pool Routing approximation. The two water levels run very closely with very little error. The difference between the two can be attributed to human error when reading the observed times during the experiment. Conclusion and Recommendations: A level pool routing experiment was carried out to determine the adequacy of results obtained through simulated flood routing. The experiment yielded experimental results from which calculations of inflow; storage and discharge over a weir were obtained. The Energy Grade line from the tank to the pipe outlet was observed as well as the relationship between the tank discharge to the square root of height. Noted from this was that height was the driving force of flow from the tank. Following, a Puls flood routing method was used to simulate the event again with theoretical values. The relationship between discharge and discharge with storage over time was obtained and used to calculate theoretical values of discharge and water Level. These were compared with experimental results and a strong correlation was observed. Reservoir routing yielded reliable results which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While in the listening, the speaker opposes the passage and says that the attempts are unsuccessful and could cause environmental damage. Also, she refutes each of the author s reasons. First of all, the reading passage claims that building fences could stop the spreading of can toads. This was done before with rabbits and prevent their spreading to a new area. However, the speaker counters this point and illustrates that the young cane toads and the eggs are found on the river and streams. Despite all the publicity surrounding this term, however, many people are still confused by it. The confusion arises from the fact that ozone is both beneficial and harmful. We know that the ozone layer in the upper atmosphereacts as a filter for the sun s ultraviolet rays, reducing the amount of radiation that reaches the earth s surface. At ground level, though, high concentrations of ozone can be harmful. The Ozone Layer Ozone gas forms a layer all around the earth high in the stratosphere. Stay away from high traffic areas, and avoid exercising near these areas at all times. Carpool or use public transportation to help reduce the amount of harmful emissions in the air that contribute to the production of ozone. Avoid using gasoline powered lawn equipment or other gasoline powered tools. Big Differences The distinction between the two ozone issues В— the beneficial ozone layer versus ozone pollution В— is extreme. The ozone layer in the stratosphere needs to be protected. He still had a great group of friends that he was with since before and during high school and the community liked him and his friends a lot; this most evident after listening to the people watching the boys drive to their last launch: Some people saw the rocket sticking out of the window, and shouts of encouragement rang out. • 17. Cause And Effects Of The Korean War Recently there has been a few state actors who are now threating the United States much more then they have in the past. The foremost and greatest threat to the U.S. is North Korea as it stands right now. This was confirmed by Defense Secretary James Mattis stating, North Korea s advancing missile and nuclear programs were the most urgent threat to national security and that its means to deliver them had increased in speed and scope (Ali, 2017). Over the past six months, the Korean Warpart II has been slowly starting to take shape and threat of war could be looming in the future. The Korean War, which started 67 years ago, which has technically never ended, led to the deaths of about 600,000 North Korean and 1 million South Koreans, along with hundreds of thousands of U.S. troops (Berlinger, 2017). The legacy of the brutal war lives on in North Korea, where key pieces of propaganda are still used by the regime today. The world is closely watching the tug of war between the world s super power and the lonely North Koreans, having both President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un aware of the immense cost of the another Korean War (Berlinger, 2017). Defense Secretary James Mattis stated: both the U.S. and North Korea have proved over time they can demonstrate restraint, de escalate a crisis and step back from the brink of war. For human beings, humor is a significant part of verbal communication, which in turn makes humor an important part of any type of communication based media, such as television. One study done by Professor Joanne Cantor at the University of Wisconsin implies that almost eighty two percent of all television programs contained at least one attempt at humor. . . all of the situational comedies contained attempts to be humorous, but well over nine out of ten game shows, children s shows, variety shows, and movies contained at least one humorous appeal (505). The superiority theory notes that people laugh outwardly or inwardly at others because they feel some sort of triumph over them or feel superior in someway to them, for example parents laughing at the the misunderstandings of their children. When communicators, or narratives, use this type of humor they make their audiences feel superior in the sense that they [the audience] are brought up to a more equal relationship with the speaker (Meyer 314, 318). Although allowing an audience to feel superior to the character within a show may seem negative at first, due to the fact that it separates the audience from the characters mentally, in reality by deprecating Maou and Ashiya through humor, the show is able to bring the two powerful demons down the the audience s level, bringing the two groups closer. An Article For The American Journal Of Bioethics There are individuals in our societies, though, who believe that the dignity of life and human nature are not important in the debate of bioethics and enhancements. Fabrice Jotterand, who wrote an article for the American Journal of Bioethics, discussed in his article that bioenhancements do not corrupt the rational and moral structure of humanpersonhood using the definition of dignity of German philosopher Immanuel Kant, which is that persons have [an] intrinsic worth or dignity derived from the rational and moral structure of human personhood (qtd. in Jotterand 46). If anything, Jotterand states, enhancements would improve the rational mind instead of dehumanizing it; augmenting human dignity and respecting life because enhancements are meant to transcend our biological nature beyond its human limits and capabilities (46, 48). However, a flaw in Jotterand s argument is that it entails both the respect for human life and the equality of humans, which should guide biotechnology together (46). The Church declares that in attempting to transcend life, one would break the bonds of our human nature and biology, thus interrupting in the communion of life shared among horizontal, human relationships and the vertical relationship between humanity and God. Contrary to Jotterand s beliefs, this communion of life would be set apart instead of equal, with discrimination of those with or without enhancements due to finances, location, or other factors. • 20. The Importance Of Professionalism And Professional Behavior According to me, Professionalism and professional behavior is very context specific. It requires us to behave appropriately at all times and in all situations. Professionalism requires us to make difficult judgments and requires us to challenge poor practices and unacceptable behaviour and attitudes. A person should be easily approachable, polite, courteous, respectable and confident. Having dignity and self respect is also very professional. Shaking another professional hands firmly, maintaining a proper and distinct eye contact, shaking your head and replying to everything another fellow says all contribute to professionalism. We keep on telling ourselves that we need to meet more people and that our circle of influence needs to be strengthened. We always want out skills and talents to be discovered. Our career requires us to network. In today s competitive and dynamic world, we all have to be more professional than ever. Networking requires a strategic approach that we can learn from while introducing ourselves to professionals. Being strategic and viewing networking through an opportunity vision can prove to be a powerful professional development. As a college student, I display professionalism every moment of my day. Be it with fellow student, a professor, a teacher s assistant or even the college employees. I always keep the door open if there someone behind me who needs to enter the room too. • 22. How Is Piggy Mature In Lord Of The Flies Piggy, from Lord of the Flies, displays a mature perspective in a childish, chaotic atmosphere. The author, William Golding, presents Piggy as a plump, spectacle wearing schoolboy, diagnosed with asthma (7 9). The fragile appearance and lung disease of the stout student suggests his physical vulnerability. The young boy speaks childlike since he talks in sentence fragments; however, this still steadies the fat boy s character because he constructs most of the boys helpful ideas (10 15). When so called Fatty spots Ralph on the island, he frequently mentions his aunt due to the fact he lives with her (9 16). The asthmatic instantly realizes the adults on the plane died, leaving them on a stranded island, while the other boys immediately accept their fates by imprudently developing an anarchic state (14).... Golding reveals the matured boy s task of an adult when he compares the English pupil s face to the martyred expression of a parent who has to keep up with the senseless ebullience of the children (38). The quote infers the outcast s frustration with having the parents job by watching the children run wildly. The caring juvenile also desires fairness, unlike the rest. Three Messages From Rime Of The Ancient Mariner Analysis Three Messages From Rime ( An Analysis of Three Messages from Rime of the Ancient Mariner ) In the poem Rime of the Ancient Mariner an old man spots a young kid, and just knows that he must talk to him and tell him his story. Various feelings, emotions and actions are expressed throughout this old man s story, and for whatever reason the young boy not only hears but completely listens to what the man has to say. After the man s story was done, there were three messages that came form his story and were now passed onto to the young boy s mind. Three of the messages that stuck out the most in this poem were, the definite distinction between the young and the old, the next messages would be guilt, and lastly having a respect for nature would be the last of the three messages that came about throughout this story. Many things can make the distinction between the old and the young. For instance, as young adults, or even young kids, it is often that we get discredited and dehumanized for all that we do and of course because of the age that we are. Young people, have the reputation for being immature and unknowledgeable. This for some reason is how it s been for ages. Now on the other hand, elders or anyone i d say thirty and up are known as more knowledgeable and definitely more mature. Simply because they have walked this earth far longer than the youngins. • 27. The Writings Of Karl Marx Allison Bierman SOC 3020 Strand December 11, 2014 Final Paper: Question #9 The writings of Karl Marx, Max Weber, and Emile Durkheim each set out to discuss how an individual is connected to their social standing within society. Along with how social classes form their beginnings. Each of their theories are complex and require thorough analysis in order to fully understand their point of view. How social class is obtained in the United States is the question being posed. I will discuss which theory I personally think is best and most applicable to our modern society. I will thoroughly compare and contrast the works of Marx, Weber, and Durkheim; along with pointing out strengths and weaknesses in all three. It is first important to understand the meaning of social class. Sociologically speaking, the term social class is a way to divide individuals based upon their economic and social standing within the larger system of economic production. In the United States, the five most common social classes include: upper class elite, upper middle class, lower middle class, working class, and poor. It is assumed that the more money one has, the higher their class status will be however there is always the possibility for outliers. Social class controls several aspects of our lives and is an extremely important factor when determining potential opportunities. Karl Marx is a sociological theorist who had great influence over how we currently look at social class. According to Marx, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Health Care System Within The United States Although the health care system within the United States has operated on a fee for service system in which a provider benefits by being paid per treatment or procedure given to a patient, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act has influenced us to look into alternative forms of provider reimbursement. One form of reimbursement that has recently been highlighted as a potential means to lower health care expenditures are bundled payments, which are also known as episode based payment. Bundled payments are being touted as a means to reduce national health expenditures, increase coordination of care, and improve quality of care; however like any other form of provider reimbursement there are advantages as well as disadvantages that need to be analyzed. A bundled payment provides a physician with a set amount of money upfront in order to efficiently treat a patient s condition; the amount of money is determined on the basis of a specific condition. A bundled payment provides an estimated reimbursement for all in patient and outpatient services needed for an episode of care. For instance if a patient fractures their hip and needs hip replacement surgery, a bundled payment will provide reimbursement for all hospitalservices, surgical implants, all costs of physician services provided and will cover costs related to the episode within ninety days after being discharged from the hospital. Wolfram Syndrome is commonly referred to as DIDMOAD because of the different types of diseases the mutation of this gene can lead to including diabetes mellitus, diabetes insipidus, optic atrophy, and deafness. Normally the WFS1 geneproduces the protein wolframin which helps regulate calcium in the cells, but when it is mutated the resulting protein is inactive or has a reduced function (AU/ Wolfram syndrome 2015). When this protein is not working correctly organs in the body will trigger apoptosis or dead of their own cells which then cause the complications that are known for occurring when the WFS1 gene is altered. • 41. Deborah Blakely Research Paper Background: Sarah Blakely, the founder and owner of Spanx, was born February 27, 1971 in Clearwater, Florida. As a daughter of a trial attorney and artist, Blakely originally planned to pursue a career in law. Though, due to poor LSAT scores she opted for a job at Disney World. After Disney, Blakely accepted a job at an office supply company Danka where she sold fax machines door to door. For this job, she was required to wear pantyhose. While she liked the seamless undergarment with control top that eliminated panty lines , she disliked the seamed foot while wearing open toed shoes. So one evening she experimented by cutting off the bottom of her pantyhose and then wore them under a new pair of pants. Even though the pantyhose continuously ... She demonstrated how often you will be turned away or rejected when starting a business but it s important to keep going. There were many times she could have decided it was too much work or too hard. But instead, she continue to promote her idea and kept pursuing individuals to help her reach her goal. From reading about her success, it was clear she worked extremely hard to get where she is today and it came from a lot persistence. The second lesson I learned from Blakely is to believe in yourself. She didn t have any experience designing clothing or manufacturing a product, but she believed in herself. She did the research into designing a patent, contacted several manufacturing mills (even driving across state lines) and further promoted her product in stores. Even though she didn t have any financial support or an established company behind her, she believed in her product and her capabilities. The third lesson, it s not wrong to view your competition. In the past, I might have thought it was a little cheating or considered sneaky to find the flaws in your competitors products. But realistically, it s a very smart business move. She taught me look for opportunities even if it s comparing your product to the competition. I believe this strategy really helped her product sell better than the other ... • 42. The Tragedy Of Medea By Euripides Medea The characters in Medea by Euripides have no free will; the gods control all. Consequently, the concept, Divine Double Bind, described by the author Ruth Padel in Whom Gods Destroy as Divinity issues prohibitions (do not kill your mother), forces you to break them, then punishes you for doing so (215) explains perfectly the actions and ultimate fates of Medea, Jason, King Creon and his daughter, the chorus leader, and the two sons. Many of Medea s actions, which offend the gods, and the subsequent consequences for such actions throughout the story exhibit the Divine Double Blind concept. Medea starts off by offending the gods when, according to Jason, Medea s husband, she slaughtered [her] brother in [her] home (81), and then, as is explained by the nurse, Medea s servant, she causes Pelias daughter to kill their father (32). Medea s first misdeed is thus murder, and although it is through Medea s actions that these crimes are committed, because the gods control all the mortals, the gods are actually the ones who made her do them. Sticking with the Divine Double Blind concept, the gods punish Medea by having her marriage to Jason fall apart. The nurse recites that their fine love s grown sick, diseased, for Jason . . . married the daughter of king Creon (32). Jason has neglected Medea and married another woman, which Medea responds to with rage. She kills again, this time targeting Jason s new wife and her father, King Creon. Medea has her ... • 43. Biography of Guy De Maupassant Guy De Maupassant was born on August 5th, 1850 at the ChГўteau de Miromesnil. He was born to his mother and father Laure Le Poittevin and Gustave de Maupassant. At a young age his parents divorced, he and his brother lived with his mom for most of his life. Laure was highly involved in his life, she is the first person to show him the love for classical literature. As he grew up that love grew stronger and stronger. After he graduated college, he enlisted into the Franco Prussian War. Although he served, and had other jobs afterwards he was not a very ambitious man. He would rather spend his time and energy writing than doing his job. Many of his stories took place during the Franco Prussian War. To me his stories were twisted and depressing. His early life was not exactly the easiest of lives. When Maupassant was 11, his parents separated, and he was brought up by his mother in the picturesque coastal town of Г‰tretat (Liukkonen). This affects the way he thinks, therefore the way he writes his stories. I also believe that the war had a great effect on his writings. During the time of the war, many aspects of life weren t exactly joyful. I feel that the way the world around him was depressing, which influenced him to write more depressing stories. His subjects include war, the Norman peasantry, the bureaucracy, life on the banks of the Seine, the emotional problems of the different classes, and, ominously, hallucination (Britannica). It could have been a way for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the value the product gives to the consumer from a marketing perspective will be discussed in greater details through other behavioural theories as the above chart is too rudimentary to give explicit argument to Benecol s potential without more exploration. Information Processing Something highly intrinsic to the product value of Benecol is the emphasis on being the only range of foods to contain Plant Stanol Ester, a unique cholesterol lowering ingredient. (Rasio Plc., 2011). Getting this information to the public through advertising happens through the brand website, but on television the advertising is focused on basic prompts that will motivate the audience into believing in the benefits of using the product. One example is the latest UK advert which places stress on the convenience of the product with a line in fairly small print about the plant stanol ester underneath the visual of how easy it can be to help lower cholesterol. The information of stanols is considered secondary in marketing the convenience product and therefore is only likely absorbed by those already interested in the product or the advertising. Dissonance This theory is based on a consumer s cognitive struggle where two beliefs that are reasoned to be true are not consistent. This process of a cognitive clash brings about a motivation to come to a positive conclusion where a psychological compromise can occur to bring ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Graphics arts, a relative new comer to the world of art is still in its infancy. With a history stretching back only 25 years, this paper begin with a brief history of this art form. • 47. Nitrogen is used by plants in order to synthesize protein... Nitrogen is used by plants in order to synthesize protein peptide bonds and for cell growth. Not only is this nutrient required in the largest quantity by plants, but it is also the most frequently limiting factor when it comes to productivity in crops. Plants cannot use nitrogen in the air and in the soil system it is lost easily. Because of this plants are forced to obtain nitrogenin the form of nitrateand ammonium from the soil. Too much nitrate can cause a negative effect on the plant including nitrate toxicity. High levels of nitrate are not only bad for plants but can also be dangerous to animals or humans in their presence. Here I discuss the scientific evidence of the effects of nitrate accumulation on plants and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the rate at which the nitrate is reduced is lower then uptake, then accumulation of large amounts of nitrate can occur. No accumulation occurs when the rate of uptake equals the rate of reduction. Accumulation of nitrate usually results from plant stress, such as drought, and is made more prominent by excessive soil nitrogen. Other forms of plant stress that cause accumulation of nitrate involve the restriction of plant growth while the absorption of nitrate from soil still continues. Some of these forms include certain herbicides, frost, acid soils, deficiencies of essential nutrients, low growing temperatures, and finally reduced sunlight. Due to the fact that nitrate accumulation builds up the most in plant stems instead of leaves. (3) Nitrate content in vegetables is influenced primarily by light intensity and nitrogen fertilization. Diurnal changes in light intensity lead to a diurnal pattern, a pattern that recurs every 24 hours as a result of one full rotation of the Earth, in nitrate accumulation in plants. (4) When plants receive too much nitrogen in the form of nitrate through its soil, it can have several detrimental effects on it. Too much nitrogen in plants can deplete the plant s carbohydrate reserves more rapidly, stimulate rapid shoot growth while slowing down root growth, and result in thinner more succulent leaf tissue, which increases moisture loss. Other effects include predisposing the plant to greater insect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Alexander Mcqueen Chapter One The first designer that s inspired me this unit is Alexander McQueen, a British designer who broke fashion, genre and designer boundaries from the beginning of his career till his suicide in 2010. McQueen s work was often focused around contrasted elements and the energy between them, creating structural and emotionally raw pieces, that were often misconstrued as misogynistic or fetish. I chose to investigate McQueen s work due to the romantic but determinedly contemporary (Dazed article) edge to his work, and bold range of influences; leading him to create diverse collections including many aesthetically and structurally urban pieces, but still within his electric, eccentric (McQueen) style. His work is so inspiring me due to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This has inspired me to explore the separate interpretations of urban , possibly exploring the contrast between the two both the concepts and the effect they have on the shape and style of designs. Although very different to his later works in terms of shape and from, his trademark innovative designing is still very bright here. This is a much more street style piece going back to his ethos of making something practical that works in real life much more wearable Miyake. Also proving the how widely urban influence can be interpreted into form. Miyake s work is ever innovative and timeless. The geometric and form inspired designs mean it s not focussed on a trend, leading it to stand alone. His slightly processed focussed work has really helped me view deconstruct/ reconstruct as a concept, or perhaps a process, not just something that can be shown aesthetically. As well as showing me the emotional connotations of exploring urban as a topic, and how these can be so diversely represented through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
