The document discusses three types of shots used in filmmaking: the mirror shot, which represents reflection on the past or fantasy; the over the shoulder shot, which allows viewers to see a character's reactions; and the close up shot, which provides detail and information through a tight focus on specific elements like a wedding ring or where an item is hidden.

2. Mirror and Quasi-Mirror Shot
• The mirror shot – Shows the wife looking into the mirror, in
this case, the photograph.
• This would represent the reflection into the past, where things
were perfect, or a fantasy that the wife is thinking of.
• Shows the audience that the characters are day dreaming and
thinking of another world.
• This is also shown when she is caressing the portrait of the
guru, showing that she is thinking of another life, possibly with
the guru.
3. Over the shoulder shot
• Camera is placed behind the character and shows a shot of
what's going on in the background – what the character can
see.
• This allows the audience to see the reactions of the character
that is listening to the character or seeing what is going on.
4. Close Up Shot
• In the short film, the close up shot focuses on the hand of the
lady, showing the wedding ring. This gives the audience more
evidence that they are actually married and happy.
• Close up shots allow the audience to see things that they
wouldn’t normally see without any help, giving them
information on things that don’t have to be said, in this case,
the marriage.
• In this example, there is a close up shot of the woman hiding
the portrait of the guru, giving focus on where she is putting
it, as the viewers may need this for future reference.
