DEPT   CRITERIA
       The candidates should have degrees in Aerospace Engineering and/or others related
AE
       branches with related specilization other than prescribed eligibility conditions.
       1. For regular candidates:
       A: Minimum CGPA at MTech level should be 8.5 for general and 7.5 for SC/ST

       B: Minimum percentage for MSc degree should be 80% for general & 70% for SC/ST.

       C: Maximum one second class either at +2 level or at Bachelor degree level

       2. For sponsored candidates:
        A: Minimum CGPA at MTech level should be 7.5 for general and 7.0 for SC/ST

       B: Minimum percentage for MSc degree should be 70% for general & 65% for SC/ST.

       C: Maximum one second class either at +2 level or at Bachelor degree level
       First Class in B Sc, MSc, B Tech, MTech, that is 60% or CGPA of 6.5 with GATE rank less
       than 500 or percentile more than 97, as applicable for B Tech / MSc.
AT
       However, if candidate is from an IIT with CGPA of more than 8.0 in BTech, then GATE is
       not applicable.
       1. B.Tech/B.E. + GATE
       2. M.Tech/ M.E./ MS
       3. B.Tech+MBA
       4. B.Tech from IIT with CGPA>8
BM     5. M.A./M.Sc/M.Com+M.Phil
       6. MBA+M.Phil
       7. M.A./M.Sc/M.Com+JRF/ GATE
       8. For sponsored category, Post Graduate Degree in Science or Management with 60% or
       more marks; 55% marks in case of Arts and Humanities
       For BE/B.Tech/M.Sc qualified candidates:
           GATE Score>=500
                   or
           NET-JRF/DBT-JRF/ICMR-JRF qualified

       For M.Tech qualified candidates:
BT         CGPA>=8.5/10
              or
           Marks>=85%

       Candidates who have not provided results of their qualifying examination
       (BE/B.Tech/M.Sc/M.Tech) will not be considered

       1. Only first choice in chemical engg

     OBC - 70%/7.5
     SC - 66%/7
     ST - 63%/6.5

     2. B.Tech. degree holders are required to have a valid GATE score that is more than or
     equal to the following cutoff limits:
EC
     GE-615
     OBC- 615
     SC- 420
     ST-345

     3. If MTech candidates do not have final marks/CGPA, they should possess a GATE score
     above the above cutoff limit.

     4. Candidates with M.Sc degree are required to possess a valid GATE score above the
     1. M.Tech degree in relevant field.
     2. M.Tech marks**: >70% or CGPA>7.0/10 (for GE& OBC)
                           > 60% or CGPA >6.0/10 (for SC/ST)

     consistently good academic record with a first class at B.Tech / Masters level

     1. LL.B. from Rajiv Gandhi School of IP LAw with a CGPA of 8.5 or above, or
IP   2. LL.M. with at least 55% marks, or
     3. First Class Master Degree in Science/technology/Management or At Least 55% in Social

     70% marks or 8.0 CGPA or higher in all academic degrees (for General candidates)

     Candidates applying in the category Regular with Assistantship with only B.Tech. (or
     equivalent) degree must have a valid GATE score of 700 or higher.
IT
     For SIT
     1. Category: GE:   At least 75% marks in all qualifying examinations

     2. Others: SC/ST/OBC: At least 70% marks in all qualifying examinations

     CGPA(x) is converted to percentage(y) using the following formula:
     For general candidates
     1) B.Sc 55%
     2) M.Sc 60% or equivalent
     3) GATE 550 or UGC ,CSIR ,NET qualified
        and / M.Tech completed
MA
     For other catagories (SC/ST) and OBC
     1)B.Sc 50%
     2)M.Sc 60%
     3)GATE 500 or UGC ,CSIR ,NET qualified
        and / M.Tech completed
     1. Candidates who have opted for PhD in ME as their first choice only are short listed

     2. Only candidates with BTech/BE/AMIE in Mechanical Engineering Sciences (ME, PE, AE,
     Naval Arch., Energy/Power Engineering) are short listed.
ME
     3. Cut-off marks or CGPA in BTech/BE/AMIE in Mechanical Engineering Sciences is 60%
     or 6.5 CGPA and in MTech/ME in Mechanical Engineering Sciences is 65% or 7.0 CGPA

     4. For Candidates with highest degree of BTech/BE from Colleges/ Universities and IIT
MM   short-listing is based on GATE Score, NET qualification, marks and available specialization
     1. GATE above 300 for reserved category and 400 for general applicants with B. tech./M.
     Sc. Degree
MS
     2. Applicants who are in the final semester of their M. Tech. Degree.
     3. Greater or equal to 60% marks or equivalent CGPA at B. Tech. / M. Sc.
     1. Candidates with first choice as Physics.

     AND

PH   2. 60 percent marks in last qualifying degree (2007 onwards considered).

     AND

     3. CSIR/UGC fellowship awarded OR GATE score above 350 OR M. Tech.
