The World s First Billionaire John D Rockefeller
The world s first billionaire John D Rockefeller was born July 8, 1839 in Richford New York. He
began his career when he built his first oil refinery near Cleveland Ohio and 1870 incorporated
the standard oil company. By the year 1822 he had monopolized the oil industry. John Davidson
Rockefeller was the second born of the six Rockefeller children born to William and Eliza
Rockefeller. William was a traveling salesman who claimed to have the ability to cure patients
with cancer and charged up to $25 per treatment, while Eliza, a devout Christian, raised their six
children at home. His mother taught strict discipline and the need to save what you earn and
donate to charity every chance you can, which left a lasting impact on John. His father also
played a major role in Rockefeller s success by teaching young Rockefeller the tricks to the trade
of a traveling salesman. Even as a child it was said that John would hustle the neighborhood by
raising turkeys, selling candies, and doing odd jobs around his home. Though the Rockefeller
men were not always known for their honesty, they were known as some of the best salesmen
around. John D Rockefeller once said It is a good thing to let my money be the servant and not
make myself slave to the money. John Rockefeller began his education in 1852 at Owego
Academy in Owego, New York, where his family relocated to in 1851. Rockefeller excelled in
mental arithmetic. He was able to solve extremely difficult equations in his head, a

Snow Globes Lab Report
Snow globes are made of clear glass, a transparent sphere with a scenic view and a plastic toy
inside the globe. The globe must be shaken to actuate the snow so the white particles can fall
gradually to reach the base. When the marble (object used for this experiment) falls, it experiences
two external forces which are; the gravitational forceand the aerodynamic (fluid resistance) drag
of the marble, which affects the rate of the marble. As the marble is falling, the speed is increased
due to the gravitational force, which is pulling the marble downwards to the base of the beaker
until it reaches the terminal velocity, where both external forces are equal. However, there are
factors that can affect the marble s terminal velocity, such as... Show more content on

However, the results are completely different. The results shown in the table, the water and
cornstarch solution is most suitable liquid to use in the snow globes due to its thick viscosity
compared to other solutions. Hence, the marble traveled slower as it created more drag onto the
marble. Nevertheless, the water itself had low viscosity compared to other solutions because the
marble reached the base faster of the measuring cylinder. As a result, it created less drag onto the
marble compared to water and cornstarch solution. Therefore, the thicker the solution, the longer it
takes for the marble to reach the base of the measuring cylinder. However, if the solution has low
viscosity (such as water itself), the faster it the time it takes for the marble to reach the

Speech Language Pathology
In a document entitled Scope of Practice in Speech Language Pathology , the professionals at the
American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) thoroughly explain the profession of speech
language pathology and the extent of practice within speech language pathology. The article
includes the following information: purpose statement of the article, definition of speech language
pathologists and speech language pathology, objectives of speech language pathology, and the
practice and delivery domains. Information from each section is summarized below.
The overall purpose of the article is to precisely explain what the true role of a speech language

The first domain of professional delivery is advocacy and outreach; advocacy is used to promote
and facilitate the access to communication. Advocacy is carried out in various ways such as
community awareness, prevention activities, health literacy, and academic literacy. Supervision is
the second domain of professional delivery which can be described as a role where the SLP
supervises clinical fellows, graduate externs, and other personnel. The third domain of professional
delivery is education. SLP s are viewed as educators; they teach students at schools and also teach
other professionals. Research is the fourth domain of professional delivery. ASHA says that SLP s
conduct and participate in basic and applied/translational research that s related to cognition, verbal
and nonverbal communication, pragmatics, literacy and feeding and swallowing (ASHA,2016). The
last domain included in the professional delivery is administration and leadership which talks about
the different places that SLP s may have to administer programs in education. An SLP may be
required to make administrative decisions that are related to fiscal and personnel management,

Maine Coon Research Paper
Maine Coon are generally regarded as one of the oldest cat breeds in
America. These cats are native to Maine, and are also seen as the State Cat . They get their names
from an old urban legend, saying that it was born through the breeding of a long haired domestic
cat and a racoon, creating a Maine Coon Cat .
Although this is not possible, it s interesting to think about when you see this cat.
Looking at it, you can understand how some people would have gotten that confused. They have
large stocky bodies, thickly furred oval paws (which they would have used to stay walking above
the snow, instead of sinking straight down), and a
LOT of fur. Their tails are long and bushy, They seem perfectly build for their environment.

They are kind of like the Great Danes of cats. Males tend to reach
13 to 18 pounds, where females usually get to 9 to 12 pounds. They are loving, and like to
follow you closely, but they are not as attention seeking and needy as the typical Siamese cat.
They tend to be giant cuddly goofballs, which make them so interesting. Most breeders these
days agree that the Maine Coon is a mix between a long haired domestic cat, and a larger cat from
overseas. One of my favorite theories is that these cats came to America, long before it was an
established colony, from the Vikings. They are built extremely similar to the Norwegian Forest
Cat, which is a relative to the cats Vikings used to have on their ships as mousers.
They tend to hail from the same type of environment, even though they are geographically so far
away. Another theory is that they descended from the long haired cats of Marie Antoinette, who
had plans of fleeing France, and finding some peace in America. She put her cats on a boat, and
was ready to get out. She didn t make it, obviously, but maybe her cats did at some point.
These cats are built by nature, so they are naturally healthy. They may

Individuality, Equality, And Sameness
Individuality, Equality, and Sameness
What is the differentiation between equality and sameness? How does one s identity effect these
two notions? In Bradbury s and Vonnegut s fictitious stories, The Pedestrian , Fahrenheit 451 , and
Harrison Bergeron , these concepts and their relationship is depicted to the reader in the form of
dystopias. These dystopias may not exist, but these science fictional societies certainly could be
made to exist. These stories contain elements that anyone can relate to, and like all science fiction,
accommodate real life factors such as technology, life, and government. Bradbury s and Vonnegut s
stories convey the message that humanity needs to acknowledge its own need for individuality and

The television program was suddenly interrupted for a news bulletin. It wasn t clear at first as to
what the bulletin was about, since the announcer, like all announcers, had a serious speech
impediment...the announcer tried to say ladies and gentlemen, he finally gave up, handed the
bulletin to the ballerina to read...she had to apologize at once for her voice, which was a very
unfair voice for a woman to use. Her voice was warm, luminous, timeless melody (Kurt Bergeron
Page. 3). Mr. Bergeron enclosed this quote, to show that instead of having people employed that
best suit a job, characters often take jobs that do not suit them. Not only could this cause a
person to be miserable with their work, but it limits the occupations one can have, and makes it
extremely hard to exceed in a trade or career. As a result, there s a society where people are
punished for being different, where there is an absurd idea that it is possible for citizens to have
equality and sameness at the same time, and an environment, where no one is joyful. That is to say,
that sameness is not equality, much less happiness.
In Ray Bradbury s The Pedestrian and Fahrenheit 451 readers enter a society where everyone has
similar items, where everyone learns the same facts, and where there is a minuscule amount of
crime. However, no one interacts with each other. In The Pedestrian the majority of people prefer to

Non Meat Eating Lifestyle Can Be Difficult Essay
There has always been a negative remark towards people that choose not to eat meat. I have
been a pescartrain, a person that abstains from eating any meat except fish, for three years and
most of the time people tend to either assume that I want to lose weight or try to convince me that
it is an unhealthy lifestyle. They always say, you aren t getting enough protein , or one of my
personal favorites, so, you only eat salad? . As absurd as it sounds, I get asked this multiple times
either from people I just met and even my family. People often stereotype vegetarians as skinny and
extremely fit; however that is not the case. Adapting to non meateating lifestyle can be difficult;
however there are many benefits. Even though many people assume vegetarians do not get enough
protein, becoming a vegetarian can decrease the chances of certain cancers and heart diseases.
The idea of abstaining from meat has been around for a long period of time. According to Claus
Leitzmann from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition it has been around since the sixth
century B.C. and originated from the Orphic mysteries followers. A greek philosopher by the name
of Pythagorean, and other influential persons promoted ethical vegetarianism until the 19th century.
After that it begin to fade away until it was reintroduced during the Renaissance Era and the Age of
Enlightenment. When people were informed of the benefits of becoming a vegetarian or vegan, a

Pentecostalism
1 November 2012
Pentecostalism
Pentecostalism originated in 1901 in Topeka, Kansas. A woman named Agnes Ozman claimed to
become baptized with the Holy Spirit of God, and she started to speak in an unknown tongue . After
this event occurred, multiple events like these occurred in other places. This practice of
Pentecostalism was an addition to the Holiness Movement. In 1906, in Los Angeles, California,
there was more documentation of tongues being spoken. Having the experience of speaking in
other languages is called glossolalia. At the Azusa Street Mission, blacks and whites gathered
together for worship, which spread the early Pentecostal Movement. During this time the ... Show

In the 1940s, Pentecostals began to find acceptance. Before the 1960s, there were some non
Pentecostal people who had been baptized with the Holy Spirit of God. Most of these people
decided that they would then keep it a secret but later join the Pentecostal Church. Around this
time the theme of Classic Pentecostalism had somewhat shifted. This became known as New
Pentecostalism. At this time there was the start of the Charismatic Movement. The supporters of
the Charismatic Movement started to stray people away from the traditional beliefs of Classic
Pentecostalism. More recently, there is a third wave of Pentecostalism that consists of non
Pentecostal Christians whose beliefs are mainly swayed towards the beliefs of Traditional
Christianity. This third wave of Pentecostalism was founded by C. Peter Wagner. These non
Pentecostal Christians follow the practices of Traditional Christianity, but they believe in the
Spiritual gifts of God and the works of God. Members of the third wave of Pentecostalism do not
see being baptized by the Holy Spirit of God as an indicator. This third wave of Pentecostalism is
better known as the Vineyard Movement. Kenn Gulliksen and John Wimber are two very important
people who are associated with the Vineyard Movement. In the 1980s Gulliksen and Wimber joined
ministries. Vineyard churches were churches that focused on modern day prophecies. Some
prophecies failed. Therefore, John Wimber decided that the Vineyard ministries should focus their

Contrasting the Gods in Homer’s Odyssey and the Biblical...
Contrasting the Gods in Homer s Odyssey and the Biblical Book of Exodus
Many authors have employed the religious beliefs of their cultures in literature. The deities
contained in Homer s Odyssey and in the Biblical book of Exodus reflect the nature of the gods in
their respective societies. Upon examination of these two works, there are three major areas where
the gods of the Greek epic seem to directly contrast the nature of the God of the Israelites: the way
problems are solved, the prestige and status that separates the divine from the masses, and the extent
of power among the immortal beings.
Before any logical argument regarding the contrasting of two works can begin, a foundation must
be established that in some way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that the people do what is commanded is evidence of the recognition of Yahweh as their
divine God, and it is a testament to the authority they ascribe to Him. The existence and recognition
of the authority of these deities does not provide the only cornerstone for this argument. To discuss
the relationship between the divine and mankind, an observation and analysis of the interaction
between the two realms is imperative. In The Odyssey, many interactions between the gods and
men are seen. One of these scenes illustrates Athena s visit to Telmakhos, at the end of which she
put new spirit in him, a new dream of his father (1. 359 360) in order that Telemakhos might not
give up hope of Odysseus return. It is this type of interaction that gives insight into the relations
between the divine and humans, and that provides a framework on which to weave the examination
of those relations. An example of this type of interaction in Exodus is found in the form of a
burning bush: When, the Lord saw that he [Moses] had gone over to look [at the burning bush],
God called to him from within the bush, Moses! Moses! And Moses said, Here I am. Do not come
any closer, God said, Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground
(Exodus 3:4 5).
The interaction between Yahweh and Moses occurs many times throughout the book of Exodus, as
do other interactions between this God of the Hebrews and

Racial Profiling Is A Central Issue Economically Essay
Lights! Camera! Judgement! In today s world, racial profiling has been a central issue
economically. These types of problem can be spotted anywhere to whether we see it or not. It is
hard to believe racial profiling is one point citizens can never get enough of which makes things
so conflicted and leads to a big mess. That is one way to how maybe war can create between
people who are innocent and others who is racist even though they say they are not . Ever since
racial profiling started in the mid 1900 s never stopped. It is hard to put an end to it but people
has their own aspects of it which I do not blame them but makes them racist. People may fool
around here and there but this is a serious issue happening globally. From social media to the real
life thing can lead to violence and making a severe economic impact. I, myself faced something
like this when I just wanted to look at something myself can and cannot afford, then later
received a comment and body language which I will never forget. In the early fall September of
2014, I remember walking in this store that is one of the biggest names anyone can name which
is Versace. Versace is a well known Italian fashion company that you can see from well known
celebrities wearing down on the red carpet for award shows or down the streets of making an
outfit statement. Going inside the store is golden which has a mix of vibrant color that you feel

Latin Language In The Latin Language
The Latin language was originally spoken in small groups along the Tiber River, but spread with
the increase of Roman political power. It first spread throughout Italy and most of western and
southern Europe, along with central and western Mediterranean coastal regions of Africa. Today s
romance languages developed from spoken Latinof various parts of the Roman Empire. From the
middle ages to comparatively recent times, Latin was the most common used language in the West
for scholarly and literary purposes (Posner and Sala).
Until the latter of the 20th century, Latin s use was required in the liturgy of the Roman Catholic
Church. During the Classical Period, there were three types of Latin in use: Classical written,
Classical oratorical, and ordinary colloquial Latin, which was used by the average speaker of the
language. Spoken Latin continued to break off from normal grammar, pronunciation, and
vocabulary. During Classical and immediate Post Classical periods, there were many inscriptions
that proved spoked Latin, but after 3rd century CE, many texts were written in Vulgar Latin.
However, in Early 4th and 5th centuries, St. Jerome and St. Augustine wrote good literary Late
Latin. The Latin language continued to evolve in two ways: the basis of local spoken forms
morphed into Romance Languages, and it was continued in a standardized
Dendy 2 form throughout the Middle Ages as a language of religion and scholarship. Imitation
of Classical and Post Classical models continued into the 6th century. There was also continuity
of literary tradition, even after the fall of the Western Roman Empire. Research in the late 20th
century suggested that Romanization was more widespread and only the scholarly men were
imbued with Roman Values. Because Latin died out in Britain, it is believed that the language
was only used by the elite. Some believe that the language died out because of the genocide of
the Roman British, and evolution of the Anglo Saxon and Romano Celtic into the new society
(Posner and Sala). Ken Black believes that Latin is dead. He states that since Latin is no longer
used on a daily basis outside of a religious setting and is no longer used as one s native tongue, it is
no longer considered a

Harry S. Truman s President Of All Time
Harry S Truman was the 33rd president of the United States and according to the Harry S
Truman website, the 5th most popular president of all time. Truman played a big part in ending
World War II and beginning the Cold War. He was elected in 1945, after the death of Franklin D.
Roosevelt, in April 1945. He also ended racial segregation in the civil service and the armed forces
in 1948. Which will all be covered in this topic of Harry S. Truman, also discussing his presidency,
personal accomplishments, and his involvement in World War II and the cold war.
Harry S. Truman was born on May 8, 1884, in Lamar, Missouri. He did not go to college after his
High School education, he served in World War I in Missouri s National Guard as a Captain. As
a kid he had read all the books in Independence Public Library. Due to his poor eyesight, he could
not participate in sports but that led him to two of his greatest passions, reading and music,
Harry was a great musician. He played the piano. Harry grew up in Independence, and for 12
years he grew up as a Missouri farmer raised on the family farm. Harry s parents gave him the
middle initial S to honor his grandfathers, Anderson Shipp Truman and Solomon Young, though the
S didn t stand for a specific name, it still resembles his grandfathers.
During his presidency, Truman had many great accomplishments that led him to become a very
popular president. But becoming president only because of Rosevelt s death he had only met with

Essay On Substance Use Disorders
Transitional Housing for Offenders with Substance Use Disorders: An Intervention Project
Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and criminal activity are often interconnected and intrinsically
linked. It is a relevant and pressing issue associated with continued use, as well as inflated
recidivism rates for this population. It has been found that over half of all inmates at county, state,
and federal sentencing levels meet criteria for substance use disorders, as well as having served at
least 3 total correctional sentences during their lifetime (Mumola Karberg, as cited in Pettus Davis,

According a study published by the Council of State Governments Justice Center (2014), the
recidivism rates for offenders in Pennsylvania had a recidivism rate of 40.8 percent in 2013,
accounting for a 3 year period following inmates releases in 2010. While this statistic highlights
a lowering in recidivism, it still reflects that 4 out of 10 inmates in the state of Pennsylvania will
return to incarceration. For offenders with SUD, the stakes are even higher, particularly returning
to freedom after a period of clean time in jail. Overdoses from illegal drugs, especially opiates,
are exponentially growing. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA, 2017) cited that there
have been over 50,000 overdose deaths in the year 2015, with over 30,000 coming from opiate
drugs. Specifically, to Pennsylvania, the Center for Disease Control (CDC, 2016) ranked
Pennsylvania has having the 3rd highest total amount of overdose deaths in the country. These
statistics not only cite this populations vulnerability to return to incarceration, but also the risks to
their health and well being if not treated for their SUD once released from jail or prison. Since the
participants in this program have already been identified and diagnosed with SUD, this program
would be an intervention program. Eriksson, Falch, Lisznyai, and Ritook (2003) stated that,
intervening means becoming involved in a course of events and trying to change it... Behind the

Feminism As A Black Woman
Feminism means something different to every woman. What feminism means to BeyoncГ©
may be different from what it means to Bell Hooks. In Feminism is for Everybody, Hooks
defines feminism as, a movement to end sexism, sexist exploitation, and oppression. BeyoncГ©
s feminism may be personal to her but the narratives she depicts in Lemonade resonate with her
fans. Through the lenses of Hooks, I will examine the lyrics and images of BeyoncГ© s
Lemonade by comparing their views on marriage, political liberation, and double standards.
Many women are empowered by the words of Bell Hooks. They can also be empowered by
BeyoncГ© s lyrics because they affirm and support what their lives have been like. BeyoncГ©
uncovers the diversity of black women through history in her video. Visual images of slaves,
mothers, young women, and working women combating struggles of being a black woman. In
Don t Hurt Yourself, a speech by Malcolm X is inserted where he said, The most neglected person
in America is the black woman. Similarly, Hooks wrote about the dismissal of black women in the
feminist movement, the utopian vision of sisterhood evoked in a feminist movement that initially
did not take racial difference or anti racist struggle seriously. This comparison suggests that both
Hooks and BeyoncГ© aim to improve the representation and political liberation of black women by
making their narratives heard. Additionally, Hooks writes about political liberation as a form of
men breaking ties

Pompeii Essay
This will be a research report on Pompeii, how it was affected by the eruption of Vesuvius and
how it was designed. Pompeii was a town in Italy and would soon to become disrupted by many
disasters, and an even bigger event to follow. The eruption of Vesuvius would terrify shock and
kill thousands of people living in the town, perhaps only a handful of townsfolk had survived that
fateful day. Many tried to escape the ash, hiding in house corners, believing that they would be
safe, or running towards the shores where boats were located, but the majority of people had died
on that day. Pompeii, a medium sized town, was located about ninety miles south of Rome. Pompeii
was founded in six hundred B.C. in front of Mount Vesuvius, which stood approximately six
thousand, five hundred feet from the ground into the air. Apparently, nobody in the town was well
aware that Vesuvius was an active volcano; they didn t even know that it was a volcano until the
huge eruption of Vesuvius, leaving thousands to die. Pompeii is located on a plateau that was
created by lavaflow from volcanoes around the area, then hardening to create a rock substance.
The city of Pompeii was built from north to south, Vesuvius being on the north end of the town.
Vesuvius offered rich, fertile land that was suitable for growing healthy vegetation, then would be
harvested and sorted out to eat later. Southwards of Pompeii gently flowed, the river of Sarnus, this
river was very crucial towards the economic life

Kia A. Watkins
Adler University
Introduction Mental health issues continue to be a growing concern sweeping across many nations
globally and domestically. Findings from the National Institutes of Mental Health (2013) illustrated
that in 2013, in the United States, 43.8 million adults suffered from a mental illness. According to
the World Health Organization (WHO) (2006) mental illness and substance use disorders are the
leading causes of disability worldwide. As mental health issues continue to endure and implicate the
lives of many, the need for competent, qualified clinicians emergent from a field that implements

Critical Infrastructure Paper
Critical Infrastructure

Keith Summerall
September 6th, 2015
Abstract
America s critical infrastructure encompasses a large number of sectors such as agriculture, food,
water, public health and emergency sectors as well as providing the essential goods and services
Americans need to survive.
Critical Infrastructure
Protecting America s critical infrastructure and key assets is a formidable challenge. Our
technologically complex society creates an infinite amount of potential targets. It is pretty much
impossible to protect all of our assets all of the time.
There are thousands of critical infrastructure assets spread across the country and it is a
monumental task for the DHS to protect them. The USA patriot act defined critical infrastructure
assets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Risk can be defined as R=f(C, V, T). R stands for the level of risk and helps to establish priority
for a critical infrastructure asset. C stands for the consequences of an attack on a particular target
in terms of general public health. V is an assessment of the vulnerability of a target. Some targets
are more easily attacked than others (Gaines and Kappeler, 2012). T stands for the likelihood that a
target will be attacked. Once security goals have been established and risk has been assessed the
next thing to do is establish security priorities. This should help planning and coordination between
agencies with the allocation of resources. A larger amount of resources will be needed for assets
with higher risk than the others. Prevention and mitigation efforts include various processes and
security approaches or a combination of measures. This process will help to provide substantial
information relative to securing critical infrastructure assets as well as implementing cost effective
security measures (Gaines and Kappeler,

The Myth Of The American Gods
Some may ask, what is a myth. To the common person, a myth is a work of fiction : an untrue
story made obsolete by modern society. A myth is a story that cannot be taken literally. For the
sake of making the definition clear, a myth is a story; it is a narrative; it is what helps people
make sense of a complicated world through different perspectives and experiences. Sometimes,
these stories have lessons that people can interpret from the events of them. Gaiman certainly has
written a myth: the myth of the American Gods. He has used past myths, those from ancient
civilizations, to create a world full of gods. He has created a myth about what America is within
the narrative of those gods. He has even modeled how religionplays out in this mythological
America. Gaiman s narrative introduces a somewhat complex system of characters; he has created
a world in which the gods (not omniscient creator gods) live among the people and cohabitate with
them. The common person cannot tell a god apart from them; they can sense something different
about them, as Laura and Sam both sense something different about Shadow from them. Laura,
after she dies, claims that Shadow may not be dead, but he most certainly is not alive (Pg#). This
shows that the gods are not explicitly known to be living among mortals, but mortals can sense
something strange about them. Gaiman also creates a myth about the popular gods who have taken
the place of the modern gods. These include the gods of Media

Facilitators In William Shakespeare s Richard II
Shakespeare s Richard II is a play which depicts the last few years of England s King Richard s
rule. John of Gaunt, who is the 1st Duke of Lancaster and Richard s uncle, is a sick and dying
man who believes men of his situation as great counsel to the youth. Oh, but they say the
tongues of dying men enforce attention like deep harmony (Act 2, Scene 1, 39). Shakespeare
uses Gaunt as the introductory facilitator for his metaphoric description of England as a garden,
where Richard is described as the royal gardener who is mismanaging the garden; lending to the
second fall of humanity through the loss of what is an imaginary Eden. It is Gaunt s hope that
Richard will listen to the advice he has to offer from his deathbed, but Duke of York doubts he
will. Instead, York is of the opinion, Richard listens only to those whom flatterer him and that his
taste for luxury is overwhelming. Gaunt insists that Richard s reign will not last long; giving a
speech in praise of England... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

to his helpers about weeding and pruning are superimposed on England s political situation. The
garden is England and the plant needing pruning is the royal family. The gardener explains that
the weeding and pruning process is necessary for the long range life of the garden. In the same
way it is presented that Richard s deposition has become inevitable if England is to become well

American History X is an American crime movie directed by Tony Kaye and produced by John

become skinheads through the neo Nazi movement and strived to make the white American
culture more efficient. It stars Edward Norton as Derek Vineyard, Edward Furlong as Danny
Vineyard, Stacy Each as Cameron Alexander, and Avery Brooks as Dr. Bob Sweeney. This essay
will focus on the deviant behavior committed by some of the people in this movie. Further, it
will discuss different theories as to why they committed the crimes. The three aspects that will
be discussed are Differential Association Theory, Reaction Formation Theory, and which one
serves as a better explanation. The main plot of the movie is focused on Derek Vineyard and his
younger brother Danny Vineyard, both white Americans. After their father had died by black
men, Derek got reeled into the neo Nazi movement, by Cameron Alexander, who is considered
the biggest distributor of white power literature. Derek had thought the murder was typical

Within the fifth and the eighth weeks of prenatal development, the hard and the soft palate are
formed. If the palate is not yet formed, this is a cleft or/and palate. The signs of a child having a
cleft lip or/and palate is that the forehead can be overhanging. The lower jaw may take longer to
develop. When the child is born, there are many effects. The child has difficulties with eating,
speaking, and also breathing. With the excessive opening of the nostril, the child is more prone to
frequent and reoccurring ear infections. The nasal cavity is advised to be cleaned thoroughly and
covered ever so often. These ear infections can possibly cause hearing loss. When feeding the child,
the cleft lip or palate prevents effective suction. Small but frequent feedings maybe considered. This
will help the child get the nutrients and enough satisfaction. The child will also have difficulties
with speech. This may cause slurring of the words and incorrect pronunciation. Irregular positioning
of the mouth, malformed of the teeth structure and missing teeth can occur in the cleft lip or palate.

Modern Cinem Mise En Scene
Mostly spoken about in the world of cinema, mise en scГ©ne also describes aspects in theatre. In
the instance of stage performance, mise en scГ©ne includes all that is present on stage i.e.
props, costumes, lighting, use of space. In Mr. Burns: A Post Electric Play by Anne Washburn
paying close attention to what is present on stage is essential to understanding situation. In The
First Act, the script directs there to be four people around a fire, on a mixed arrangement of
indoor chairs, sports or lawn chairs and a fancy new couch, this set allows the audience to view
the scene as something of a fuse of scavenged materials, making it known that, in this point in
civilization, it is essential to acquire anything that is possible. There is no room for color schemes
or meticulously considered arrangements, only practicality. The Second Act, described as seven
years later, calls for a cozy living room, letting the audience know that progress has been made and
it is appropriate to begin to consider aesthetic and occasional luxury. With this consideration of mise
en scГ©ne comes a better understanding of how and why a scene is presented the way it is.

Mandatory Minimums Should Not Be Mandatory
Those who oppose mandatory minimums argue that longer sentences cost too much, are ineffective
in reducing drug related crimes, and do not allow for lenience in extenuating circumstances.
The average cost of keeping a single prisoner incarcerated in federal prison for a year is
approximately $30,619.85 (Prisons Bureau, and Department of Justice), multiply that number by
the typical five years in prison mandatory minimum policy demands for minor drug crimes as well
as multiplying it by the approximate 93,262 inmates currently in prison for drug crimes (Federal
Bureau of Prisons) and the cost of long sentences required by mandatory minimums starts to add up.
In addition to the economical problems mandatory minimums contribute to, some adversaries
suggest that mandatory minimums may not even be effective, particularly in regards to reducing
drug related crimes. In many organized drug operations when one drug supplier is caught and
incarcerated another swiftly takes his place (Caulkins, Jonathan P). Furthermore, social scientists
and public policy analysts researching the effectiveness of mandatory minimums have found there
to be little conclusive evidence that mandatory minimums do in fact reduce crime (The United
States Sentencing Commission).
Another concern mandatory minimums pose is the lack of individualized sentencing. As previously
mentioned when discussing the positive aspects of mandatory minimums some view consistency of
sentencing as a favorable product of mandatory

My Porch Description
There was a tiny home invader on my porch. I came home from school to find a very large and
intimidating spider spinning a web on the side of my porch. Naturally, I quickly ran inside, i was
about to get a tissue to deposit it far, far away, from anywhere near me, but I stopped. Why was
there a large spideron my porch? It was just sitting along the side of it, completely exposed. It was
probably a good place to catch flies since it was near the trash can, but it was left completely
exposed. The side of my back porch was right by the door to go inside, Wouldn t it build a web
somewhere safer? Why here? Curious, I went out to look again, staying well apart in case it tried
to jump. The web stood out, a gossamer orb against the pale yellow of my porch. In the center the

Analysis Of The Movie Miracle
Miracle review
During the Lake Placid Olympics in 1980. USA, a team that consisted of college kids defeated
the heavily favorite Soviet Union in hockey. Eventually, team USA won the gold medal against
Finland. USA s first gold medal since 1960 in hockey. The 1980 USA hockey gold medal victory
is arguably the greatest moment in U.S. sports history. The 2003 film Miracle is about the events
that led USA to victory. Also, the film exemplifies that an underdog can truly win. In my opinion,
the film Miracle is the best well made and most influential sports movie. I give it 10 out 10 stars,
based on the realistic action scenes, inspirational quotes and underdog story.
The first piece of criteria I used was Inspirational quotes. Quotes that have a deeper meaning in
them. In the movie, legendary head coach Herb brooks of team USA said, Great moments are born
from great opportunities . I find this quote inspirational because it s a huge opportunity to
represent your country and do something that hasn t been in 20 years, which was winning the
gold medal. Russia was going through the Cold war. In addition, another memorable quote is,
Mike Eurzione Winthrop, Massachusetts! . Who do you play for? . I play for the United states of

Trojan War
Was The Trojan War Just?
The Trojan War was a Greek mythological war waged on account of the beautiful Helen, wife of
the Spartan king Menelaus, being stolen from Greece by Paris, Prince of Troy. It is one of the
most important, if not the most important, event in Greek mythology. The dispute originated from
a quarrel between three goddesses, Athena, Hera, and Aphrodite. They were fighting to see who
was the fairest among them. They were sent by Zeus to Paris in order for him to judge them. Paris
chose Aphrodite after she offered to make Helen, the most beautiful of all women, fall in love with
him. She then proceeded to take Helen from Menelaus, with Paris s help and give her to him, thus
causing the Trojan War. Throughout this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For in the end, many innocent lives are taken, therefore a just war is waged only for the right
intentions. After all, the Bible does tell us that there is a time to love, and a time to hate; a time
for war, and a time for peace (Ecclesiastes 3:8). War is not wrong, but it is wrong if waged for the
wrong reasons. Was The Trojan War righteous? The Bible says, Righteousness exalts a nation,
but sin is a reproach to any people (Proverbs 14:34). After all, what is righteousness? It is acting
in accord with moral or divine law. This is not the kind of divinity defined by the divine gods of
ancient Greece, but the divinity that comes from the true Lord. According to His laws, waging a
war on account of beautiful woman, is not righteous, or in alignment with moral law. And to
consider material gain over the preservation of innocent life is not war for the right intention
(righteousness). In a just war, the ultimate goal should be to re establish peace. Consequently, the
war must have begun in turmoil, without peace. In this case, however, the war caused strife and
turmoil. Before the war, the two countries got along reasonably. During and after the war, there
was hatred. Now that is not the result of a just war, or even the goal. In the first place, anyway,
there was no consideration of ultimate peace. No, only vanity and material gain were in the mind
of the king and the people of Greece. If the authorities of Greece and Troy were putting peace

Whereas Kerrang may use worn down effects front page features, the features on my front page are
very simple to represent the simple nature of acoustic music.
My cover lines are short but punchy containing ultimately, what the audience wants to see. For this I
have used artist s names. This is extremely common in existing music magazines, their most
important content concerns existing artists. Also following conventions, my artist s names are
much larger than any additional information underneath. Additionally, my all important cover story
is shown in the largest font on the page other that the masthead. This immediately grabs the
audience s attention and encourages them to find out more.
Another feature of my front page that aims to attract attention is a competition, the sticker with Win

encourages the audience to read inside. This is conventional in all music magazines as a way of
attracting more potential customers towards the magazine.
Conventionally, although selling the magazine, the front cover doesn t give away too much about

How Human Digestive System Works
Discover how the human digestive system works one of the most important systems in the human
body. Learn what each part does, and then see how much you remember with a quick quiz.
!!!What is the Human Digestive System?
We all love food. It s tasty, and fun, and absolutely vital for life. But have you ever wondered
how your body turns all that yummy food into the stuff the body needs to work? The body needs
energy, and it needs it in the form of glucose (sugar). So how do we get from complex food that
contains lots of things that aren t sugar, to pure, sugary energy?
The system in your body that does this important job is called the digestive system. The __digestive

Your __stomach__ contains strong acids that break down the food further. It churns the food in
the acid to form a mixture called chyme. Enzymes are also released by the stomach, which are
particularly good at breaking down proteins in the food you ate. Food will often stay in the
stomach for hours, until it reaches a creamy or liquidy consistency, before being gradually squirted
into the next section the small intestine. It can take anywhere from two to six hours for this to
happen.

!!!The Small and Large Intestines
The next part of the digestive system is the __small intestine__, which is a long, windy and thin
tube that snakes its way around the lower part of your belly. Here the food is mixed with bile
and other enzymes, which are created by the liver and pancreas, to break down the molecules in
the food even further. Once the food has been turned into glucose, those molecules are absorbed
by the wall of the small intestine and move into the blood, where they provide energy for the
body. The small intestine also absorbs vitamins, minerals, simple fatty acids and amino acids. This

January, 23 of 2017 by the Fish and Wildlife Service. This rule basically got put into place
because too many people were out taking the nests from eagles without permission. There also
was not a law put into place at that time but it was doing harm to the nation s bird because they
no longer had a nesting location, which then was bringing a lot of unwanted stress to the bird s
life. For even myself I never knew this was a law so it will be something even I look out for now

Unit 3 Assignment 2 System Security
Assignment 2: System Security As we evolve through time the technology evolves with us. With
our accomplishment in technology we reached beyond our imagination, some things which our
ancestors would only dream on having. But while the technology can be used for good deeds
some want to take advantage of it and gain personal profits. So, countermeasures were created for
defending against them. The system security is a defence mechanism projection against illegal
access in a User s/Owner s computer or other technology gadgets that contain personal information
without the Owner being aware. The system security covers Networking Protection which is an
accidental downloading of software codes like computer viruses, spam, worms, Trojan horses,
logic bombs, spyware, and adware, that create an annoyance, steals, harms or alters data or cripple
system capacities. In the meantime, it also covers Physical Protection preventing others to steal or
access your personal gadgets. Programs for protection have been created for a long time and are
still being created for the cause of fighting the threatening programs. The battle of anti threatening...

Compare And Contrast Native American Civilizations
Prior to the Europeans arrival in 1492, there were Native American civilizations that populated
different parts of the land that was later called the Americas. These lands were Mesoamerica, South
America, and North America. Researchers believe that the civilizations located in those 3 parts of
the Americaswere highly complex. These groups came to be known as the Olmecs, the Aztecs, the
Mayans, the Incas, the Mogollon, Hohokam, and Anasazi.
Mesoamerica was a region that stretched from North Panama to Central Mexico and included the
Native American Civilizations called the Olmecs, The Aztecs, and The Mayas. These groups were
polythetic meaning that they believed in gods that carried both male and female characteristics.
They were advanced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are also well known for creating the only known written language. Mesoamerica was not the
only region that was well known for having complex civilizations. The most highly and complex
society was located along the Andes mountains in South America. This society was called the Incas.
During the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, the Incas expanded their empire that stretched from
modern day Colombia to Chili. For transportation, they built stepped roads that were beneficial to
pedestrians. Not only was this transportation system beneficial to pedestrians but it was also helpful
to the Incan army and chasquis, Incan relay runners, as well. These roads allowed the Incan army to
move faster and it also allowed Incan relay runners to send messages faster over a long distance.
Unlike the Mesoamerican civilizations, the Incans did not have a writing system. Instead, they
communicated through a system of colored strings and knots called quipus. Although Mesoamerica
and South America had complex Native American civilizations, there were other civilizations that
were just as complex as the ones mentioned before. These civilizations include the Mogollon,
Hohokam, and Anasazi which were all located in North America. From 50 BCE to

Stereotypes In Skyscraper
Have you thought about songs that represent you? Songs can explain everything you are going
through, you just have to listen or read the lyrics. The song Skyscraper by Demi Lovato
represents me because of how no one can tear me down, I have been hurt for so long I have
learned how to ignore the pain most days. Next, the lyrics from Adam s Songby Blink 182 relates to
me because I have hit rock bottom and decided that I thought suicide was the answer but I
changed my mind soon after those thoughts. Then the lyrics from Hall of Fame by The Script
showed me that I can do whatever my heart desires and that I should not listen to the people
trying to drag me down. That is to say, If Everyone Cared by Nickelback is what I wish everyone

You may not realize what was said was hurtful to that individual, but to that individual that can
be the words they wake up to in the morning or when they look at themselves in the mirror. My
freshman year of high school I got called a whale, and that 110% still sticks with me. Every time
I look into a mirror I replay that moment, and see that guy who said those things and I could tell
it did not bother him one bit. As the lyrics from the song You Want A Battle? ( Heres a War)
state, your words cut deep.../ I will not take this anymore/ These words will not be ignored/ you
want a battle/ here s a war (Bullet For My Valentine 2015). When a bully bullies an individual you
have to learn to stand up for yourself, tell someone, let people know you are being bullied so that
you do not have to continue feeling worthless because of a single ignorant comment. Sometimes it
is best to ignore that person, because they will realize that their words do not affect you, they
possibly might leave you

James Thurber-Humor in Fiction
James Thurber was one of the most influential and unforgettable writers of his kind. He made
modern day problems seem preventable in the minds of people, and he tried to make them realize
that the problems had to have a source. Thurber wrote of people struggling with day to day life
that was once trouble free and drew his ideas of humanity losing the direction it once had in the
past. He attributed this change to wandering minds and ignorant actions on man s behalf. James
Thurber used his artistic and creative abilities to make a point of humanshortcomings through
ingenious writings and comical sketches. James Oliver Thurber, a satirical, Ohio born writer, was
born in Columbus on December 8, 1894. Thurber wrote of himself that he was... Show more content

One of Thurber s choice ways of communicating with the masses was through writing magazine
articles, short stories, essays, and children s books. His uncanny take on his writing usually
brought laughter and enjoyment to its readers with descriptions of wild and ridiculous events
being his number one source of absurdity. Among them were Many Moons, a story of a daughter
of royalty who refused to make herself better after overeating until she was given the moon, and
The Wonderful O, the tale of a pirate who travels to the island of Ooroo to find jewels. When the
pirate leaves empty handed, he banishes all words containing the letter o. The moral to the fairy
tale was words containing that vowel were vital in the world and among the necessary words was
freedom (Morsberger Suppl. 1:612). When it came to more important matters, Thurber had the
views of many of today s modern thinkers, and it was reflected in his work. He saw the human as
more harmful than helpful to the world as a whole. In his Interview with a Lemming, the creature
being interrogated by a scientist calls humans murderous, maladjusted, maleficent, malicious, and
muffle headed. The scientist proceeds to tell him that he agrees with the observation, but he can not
seem to understand why lemmings hurry to the sea to drown themselves. The lemming curtly
replies, How curious. The one thing I don t understand is why you humans don t (Morsberger
Suppl. 1:603). His take on

Wireless Network Topology Essay
Design of Wireless Networking Topologies
The WSN infrastructures can be designed in a variety of ways to address different priorities and
make the appropriate technology trade offs based on the requirements of the certain application.
There are number of interrelated design variables associated with wireless sensor networking.
Fig. 7. Wireless Networking Topologies [10]
The three flexible topologies for network construction are star, tree and mesh respectively,
illustrated in Figure 7. All three topologies consist WSN gateways, end nodes and routers. There
are other topologies, such as ring, line, bus, fully connected and star mesh hybrid networks. Thus,
each WSN topology presents its own set of challenges, advantages and ... Show more content on

The nodes of bus topology are replaced with standalone star topology networks. This results in
both disadvantages of bus topology and advantages of star topology as well. For example, if the
connection between two groups of networks is broken down due to cutting of the connection on
the central linear core, then those two groups cannot communicate, much like nodes of a bus
topology. However, the star topology nodes will effectively communicate with each other. This
structure is arranged in a hierarchical form and any intermediate node can have any number of the
child nodes. 2. Mesh Topology This special topology is multi hopping systems in which all WSN
nodes are identical, namely they are all routers and communicate with each other to hop data to and
from the sensor nodes and the gateway.
Figure 8. WSN Communication Infrastructure [1]
Unlike the star architecture where the nodes can only talk to the gateway, the nodes in a mesh
topology can also hop messages among other router nodes. The propagation of sensor data through
the mesh allows a sensor network to be extended, in theory to an unlimited range. Besides, a mesh
network is also highly fault tolerant since each sensor node has multiple paths back to the gateway
and to other nodes. If a node fails, the network will reconfigure itself around the failed node
automatically. Depending on the number of nodes

On The Rainy River Essay
Soldiers that come back from war, tend to suffer from what they have gone through. Tim O
Brien, a soldier in the Vietnam war, wrote a best selling collection of short stories titled The
Things They Carried. He, along with other soldier tend to experience how delicate the human
heart can be. A heart is a very delicate sensitive part of the body and can really affect soldiers in
any way shape or form when it comes to a war.
Even before Tim O Brien stepped onto the battlefield, the war had already damaged his heart. In the
short story On the Rainy River Tim O Brien opened up a letter that would change his mind forever:

He cares about what people think too much. Even though he personally didn t want to fight, he
felt the need to so that he didn t disappoint, nor embarrass his family and friends. These feelings
he had really messed with his head at especially with his heart. He has passion in fighting for his
country and will risk his own life to protect this land, but it s also hurting him inside. This is toxic
for any soldier that is about to enter the war. The heart and the feelings that come along with it can
truly mess with soldiers minds.
Mentally soldiers have to deal with brutal things that the war throws at them causing their hearts
to suffer. In the short story, The Things They Carried , Jimmy Cross, a soldier, had a
preoccupied heart for his love interest at home, which helped his heart in the war until it was
used as a weapon: He hated himself. He had loved Martha more than his men, and as a
consequence Lavender was now dead, and this was something he would have to carry like a
stone in his stomach for the rest of the war (16). Cross is convinced that his feelings for a Martha
contributed to Lavender s death. Because his feelings were so strong, he wasn t as focused as he
should ve been, which costed him a buddy. This is a true eye awakening in how powerful the heart
and the feelings that come along with it is. Cross could only think about Martha and yes, this
distraction helped

  • 2. The World s First Billionaire John D Rockefeller The world s first billionaire John D Rockefeller was born July 8, 1839 in Richford New York. He began his career when he built his first oil refinery near Cleveland Ohio and 1870 incorporated the standard oil company. By the year 1822 he had monopolized the oil industry. John Davidson Rockefeller was the second born of the six Rockefeller children born to William and Eliza Rockefeller. William was a traveling salesman who claimed to have the ability to cure patients with cancer and charged up to $25 per treatment, while Eliza, a devout Christian, raised their six children at home. His mother taught strict discipline and the need to save what you earn and donate to charity every chance you can, which left a lasting impact on John. His father also played a major role in Rockefeller s success by teaching young Rockefeller the tricks to the trade of a traveling salesman. Even as a child it was said that John would hustle the neighborhood by raising turkeys, selling candies, and doing odd jobs around his home. Though the Rockefeller men were not always known for their honesty, they were known as some of the best salesmen around. John D Rockefeller once said It is a good thing to let my money be the servant and not make myself slave to the money. • 4. Snow Globes Lab Report Snow globes are made of clear glass, a transparent sphere with a scenic view and a plastic toy inside the globe. The globe must be shaken to actuate the snow so the white particles can fall gradually to reach the base. When the marble (object used for this experiment) falls, it experiences two external forces which are; the gravitational forceand the aerodynamic (fluid resistance) drag of the marble, which affects the rate of the marble. As the marble is falling, the speed is increased due to the gravitational force, which is pulling the marble downwards to the base of the beaker until it reaches the terminal velocity, where both external forces are equal. However, there are factors that can affect the marble s terminal velocity, such as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the results are completely different. The results shown in the table, the water and cornstarch solution is most suitable liquid to use in the snow globes due to its thick viscosity compared to other solutions. Hence, the marble traveled slower as it created more drag onto the marble. Nevertheless, the water itself had low viscosity compared to other solutions because the marble reached the base faster of the measuring cylinder. As a result, it created less drag onto the marble compared to water and cornstarch solution. Therefore, the thicker the solution, the longer it takes for the marble to reach the base of the measuring cylinder. However, if the solution has low viscosity (such as water itself), the faster it the time it takes for the marble to reach the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Maine Coon Research Paper Maine Coon are generally regarded as one of the oldest cat breeds in America. These cats are native to Maine, and are also seen as the State Cat . They get their names from an old urban legend, saying that it was born through the breeding of a long haired domestic cat and a racoon, creating a Maine Coon Cat . Although this is not possible, it s interesting to think about when you see this cat. Looking at it, you can understand how some people would have gotten that confused. They have large stocky bodies, thickly furred oval paws (which they would have used to stay walking above the snow, instead of sinking straight down), and a LOT of fur. Their tails are long and bushy, They seem perfectly build for their environment. Although they are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are kind of like the Great Danes of cats. Males tend to reach 13 to 18 pounds, where females usually get to 9 to 12 pounds. They are loving, and like to follow you closely, but they are not as attention seeking and needy as the typical Siamese cat. They tend to be giant cuddly goofballs, which make them so interesting. Most breeders these days agree that the Maine Coon is a mix between a long haired domestic cat, and a larger cat from overseas. One of my favorite theories is that these cats came to America, long before it was an established colony, from the Vikings. They are built extremely similar to the Norwegian Forest Cat, which is a relative to the cats Vikings used to have on their ships as mousers. They tend to hail from the same type of environment, even though they are geographically so far away. Another theory is that they descended from the long haired cats of Marie Antoinette, who had plans of fleeing France, and finding some peace in America. She put her cats on a boat, and was ready to get out. She didn t make it, obviously, but maybe her cats did at some point. These cats are built by nature, so they are naturally healthy. They may ... • 8. Individuality, Equality, And Sameness Individuality, Equality, and Sameness What is the differentiation between equality and sameness? How does one s identity effect these two notions? In Bradbury s and Vonnegut s fictitious stories, The Pedestrian , Fahrenheit 451 , and Harrison Bergeron , these concepts and their relationship is depicted to the reader in the form of dystopias. These dystopias may not exist, but these science fictional societies certainly could be made to exist. These stories contain elements that anyone can relate to, and like all science fiction, accommodate real life factors such as technology, life, and government. Her voice was warm, luminous, timeless melody (Kurt Bergeron Page. 3). Mr. Bergeron enclosed this quote, to show that instead of having people employed that best suit a job, characters often take jobs that do not suit them. Not only could this cause a person to be miserable with their work, but it limits the occupations one can have, and makes it extremely hard to exceed in a trade or career. As a result, there s a society where people are punished for being different, where there is an absurd idea that it is possible for citizens to have equality and sameness at the same time, and an environment, where no one is joyful. That is to say, that sameness is not equality, much less happiness. In Ray Bradbury s The Pedestrian and Fahrenheit 451 readers enter a society where everyone has similar items, where everyone learns the same facts, and where there is a minuscule amount of crime. • 9. Non Meat Eating Lifestyle Can Be Difficult Essay There has always been a negative remark towards people that choose not to eat meat. I have been a pescartrain, a person that abstains from eating any meat except fish, for three years and most of the time people tend to either assume that I want to lose weight or try to convince me that it is an unhealthy lifestyle. They always say, you aren t getting enough protein , or one of my personal favorites, so, you only eat salad? . As absurd as it sounds, I get asked this multiple times either from people I just met and even my family. People often stereotype vegetarians as skinny and extremely fit; however that is not the case. Adapting to non meateating lifestyle can be difficult; however there are many benefits. Even though many people assume vegetarians do not get enough protein, becoming a vegetarian can decrease the chances of certain cancers and heart diseases. The idea of abstaining from meat has been around for a long period of time. According to Claus Leitzmann from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition it has been around since the sixth century B.C. and originated from the Orphic mysteries followers. A greek philosopher by the name of Pythagorean, and other influential persons promoted ethical vegetarianism until the 19th century. After that it begin to fade away until it was reintroduced during the Renaissance Era and the Age of Enlightenment. After this event occurred, multiple events like these occurred in other places. This practice of Pentecostalism was an addition to the Holiness Movement. In 1906, in Los Angeles, California, there was more documentation of tongues being spoken. Having the experience of speaking in other languages is called glossolalia. In the 1940s, Pentecostals began to find acceptance. Before the 1960s, there were some non Pentecostal people who had been baptized with the Holy Spirit of God. Most of these people decided that they would then keep it a secret but later join the Pentecostal Church. Around this time the theme of Classic Pentecostalism had somewhat shifted. This became known as New Pentecostalism. At this time there was the start of the Charismatic Movement. The supporters of the Charismatic Movement started to stray people away from the traditional beliefs of Classic Pentecostalism. More recently, there is a third wave of Pentecostalism that consists of non Pentecostal Christians whose beliefs are mainly swayed towards the beliefs of Traditional Christianity. This third wave of Pentecostalism was founded by C. Peter Wagner. These non Pentecostal Christians follow the practices of Traditional Christianity, but they believe in the Spiritual gifts of God and the works of God. Members of the third wave of Pentecostalism do not see being baptized by the Holy Spirit of God as an indicator. This third wave of Pentecostalism is better known as the Vineyard Movement. Kenn Gulliksen and John Wimber are two very important people who are associated with the Vineyard Movement. In the 1980s Gulliksen and Wimber joined ministries. • 11. Contrasting the Gods in Homer’s Odyssey and the Biblical... Contrasting the Gods in Homer s Odyssey and the Biblical Book of Exodus Many authors have employed the religious beliefs of their cultures in literature. The deities contained in Homer s Odyssey and in the Biblical book of Exodus reflect the nature of the gods in their respective societies. Upon examination of these two works, there are three major areas where the gods of the Greek epic seem to directly contrast the nature of the God of the Israelites: the way problems are solved, the prestige and status that separates the divine from the masses, and the extent of power among the immortal beings. Before any logical argument regarding the contrasting of two works can begin, a foundation must be established that in some way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fact that the people do what is commanded is evidence of the recognition of Yahweh as their divine God, and it is a testament to the authority they ascribe to Him. The existence and recognition of the authority of these deities does not provide the only cornerstone for this argument. To discuss the relationship between the divine and mankind, an observation and analysis of the interaction between the two realms is imperative. In The Odyssey, many interactions between the gods and men are seen. One of these scenes illustrates Athena s visit to Telmakhos, at the end of which she put new spirit in him, a new dream of his father (1. 359 360) in order that Telemakhos might not give up hope of Odysseus return. It is this type of interaction that gives insight into the relations between the divine and humans, and that provides a framework on which to weave the examination of those relations. An example of this type of interaction in Exodus is found in the form of a burning bush: When, the Lord saw that he [Moses] had gone over to look [at the burning bush], God called to him from within the bush, Moses! Moses! And Moses said, Here I am. Do not come any closer, God said, Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground (Exodus 3:4 5). • 12. Racial Profiling Is A Central Issue Economically Essay Lights! Camera! Judgement! In today s world, racial profiling has been a central issue economically. These types of problem can be spotted anywhere to whether we see it or not. It is hard to believe racial profiling is one point citizens can never get enough of which makes things so conflicted and leads to a big mess. That is one way to how maybe war can create between people who are innocent and others who is racist even though they say they are not . Ever since racial profiling started in the mid 1900 s never stopped. It is hard to put an end to it but people has their own aspects of it which I do not blame them but makes them racist. People may fool around here and there but this is a serious issue happening globally. From social media to the real life thing can lead to violence and making a severe economic impact. I, myself faced something like this when I just wanted to look at something myself can and cannot afford, then later received a comment and body language which I will never forget. In the early fall September of 2014, I remember walking in this store that is one of the biggest names anyone can name which is Versace. • 13. Latin Language In The Latin Language The Latin language was originally spoken in small groups along the Tiber River, but spread with the increase of Roman political power. It first spread throughout Italy and most of western and southern Europe, along with central and western Mediterranean coastal regions of Africa. Today s romance languages developed from spoken Latinof various parts of the Roman Empire. From the middle ages to comparatively recent times, Latin was the most common used language in the West for scholarly and literary purposes (Posner and Sala). Until the latter of the 20th century, Latin s use was required in the liturgy of the Roman Catholic Church. During the Classical Period, there were three types of Latin in use: Classical written, Classical oratorical, and ordinary colloquial Latin, which was used by the average speaker of the language. Spoken Latin continued to break off from normal grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary. During Classical and immediate Post Classical periods, there were many inscriptions that proved spoked Latin, but after 3rd century CE, many texts were written in Vulgar Latin. However, in Early 4th and 5th centuries, St. Jerome and St. Augustine wrote good literary Late Latin. The Latin language continued to evolve in two ways: the basis of local spoken forms morphed into Romance Languages, and it was continued in a standardized Dendy 2 form throughout the Middle Ages as a language of religion and scholarship. Imitation of Classical and Post Classical models continued into the 6th century. There was also continuity of literary tradition, even after the fall of the Western Roman Empire. Research in the late 20th century suggested that Romanization was more widespread and only the scholarly men were imbued with Roman Values. Because Latin died out in Britain, it is believed that the language was only used by the elite. Some believe that the language died out because of the genocide of the Roman British, and evolution of the Anglo Saxon and Romano Celtic into the new society (Posner and Sala). Ken Black believes that Latin is dead. He states that since Latin is no longer used on a daily basis outside of a religious setting and is no longer used as one s native tongue, it is no longer considered a ... • 17. Essay On Substance Use Disorders Transitional Housing for Offenders with Substance Use Disorders: An Intervention Project Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and criminal activity are often interconnected and intrinsically linked. It is a relevant and pressing issue associated with continued use, as well as inflated recidivism rates for this population. It has been found that over half of all inmates at county, state, and federal sentencing levels meet criteria for substance use disorders, as well as having served at least 3 total correctional sentences during their lifetime (Mumola Karberg, as cited in Pettus Davis, Howard, Roberts Lewis, Scheyett, 2011). Along with experiencing incarcerationand forms of institutionalization, this population also requires rehabilitation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According a study published by the Council of State Governments Justice Center (2014), the recidivism rates for offenders in Pennsylvania had a recidivism rate of 40.8 percent in 2013, accounting for a 3 year period following inmates releases in 2010. While this statistic highlights a lowering in recidivism, it still reflects that 4 out of 10 inmates in the state of Pennsylvania will return to incarceration. For offenders with SUD, the stakes are even higher, particularly returning to freedom after a period of clean time in jail. Overdoses from illegal drugs, especially opiates, are exponentially growing. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA, 2017) cited that there have been over 50,000 overdose deaths in the year 2015, with over 30,000 coming from opiate drugs. Specifically, to Pennsylvania, the Center for Disease Control (CDC, 2016) ranked Pennsylvania has having the 3rd highest total amount of overdose deaths in the country. These statistics not only cite this populations vulnerability to return to incarceration, but also the risks to their health and well being if not treated for their SUD once released from jail or prison. Since the participants in this program have already been identified and diagnosed with SUD, this program would be an intervention program. Eriksson, Falch, Lisznyai, and Ritook (2003) stated that, intervening means becoming involved in a course of events and trying to change it... Behind the intervention there is an intention, ... • 18. Feminism As A Black Woman Feminism means something different to every woman. What feminism means to BeyoncГ© may be different from what it means to Bell Hooks. In Feminism is for Everybody, Hooks defines feminism as, a movement to end sexism, sexist exploitation, and oppression. BeyoncГ© s feminism may be personal to her but the narratives she depicts in Lemonade resonate with her fans. Through the lenses of Hooks, I will examine the lyrics and images of BeyoncГ© s Lemonade by comparing their views on marriage, political liberation, and double standards. Many women are empowered by the words of Bell Hooks. They can also be empowered by BeyoncГ© s lyrics because they affirm and support what their lives have been like. BeyoncГ© uncovers the diversity of black women through history in her video. Visual images of slaves, mothers, young women, and working women combating struggles of being a black woman. In Don t Hurt Yourself, a speech by Malcolm X is inserted where he said, The most neglected person in America is the black woman. Similarly, Hooks wrote about the dismissal of black women in the feminist movement, the utopian vision of sisterhood evoked in a feminist movement that initially did not take racial difference or anti racist struggle seriously. This comparison suggests that both Hooks and BeyoncГ© aim to improve the representation and political liberation of black women by making their narratives heard. • 19. Pompeii Essay This will be a research report on Pompeii, how it was affected by the eruption of Vesuvius and how it was designed. Pompeii was a town in Italy and would soon to become disrupted by many disasters, and an even bigger event to follow. The eruption of Vesuvius would terrify shock and kill thousands of people living in the town, perhaps only a handful of townsfolk had survived that fateful day. Many tried to escape the ash, hiding in house corners, believing that they would be safe, or running towards the shores where boats were located, but the majority of people had died on that day. Pompeii, a medium sized town, was located about ninety miles south of Rome. Pompeii was founded in six hundred B.C. in front of Mount Vesuvius, which stood approximately six thousand, five hundred feet from the ground into the air. Apparently, nobody in the town was well aware that Vesuvius was an active volcano; they didn t even know that it was a volcano until the huge eruption of Vesuvius, leaving thousands to die. Pompeii is located on a plateau that was created by lavaflow from volcanoes around the area, then hardening to create a rock substance. The city of Pompeii was built from north to south, Vesuvius being on the north end of the town. Vesuvius offered rich, fertile land that was suitable for growing healthy vegetation, then would be harvested and sorted out to eat later. • 26. The Myth Of The American Gods Some may ask, what is a myth. To the common person, a myth is a work of fiction : an untrue story made obsolete by modern society. A myth is a story that cannot be taken literally. For the sake of making the definition clear, a myth is a story; it is a narrative; it is what helps people make sense of a complicated world through different perspectives and experiences. Sometimes, these stories have lessons that people can interpret from the events of them. Gaiman certainly has written a myth: the myth of the American Gods. He has used past myths, those from ancient civilizations, to create a world full of gods. He has created a myth about what America is within the narrative of those gods. He has even modeled how religionplays out in this mythological America. Gaiman s narrative introduces a somewhat complex system of characters; he has created a world in which the gods (not omniscient creator gods) live among the people and cohabitate with them. The common person cannot tell a god apart from them; they can sense something different about them, as Laura and Sam both sense something different about Shadow from them. Laura, after she dies, claims that Shadow may not be dead, but he most certainly is not alive (Pg#). This shows that the gods are not explicitly known to be living among mortals, but mortals can sense something strange about them. Gaiman also creates a myth about the popular gods who have taken the place of the modern gods. These include the gods of Media ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Mandatory Minimums Should Not Be Mandatory Those who oppose mandatory minimums argue that longer sentences cost too much, are ineffective in reducing drug related crimes, and do not allow for lenience in extenuating circumstances. The average cost of keeping a single prisoner incarcerated in federal prison for a year is approximately $30,619.85 (Prisons Bureau, and Department of Justice), multiply that number by the typical five years in prison mandatory minimum policy demands for minor drug crimes as well as multiplying it by the approximate 93,262 inmates currently in prison for drug crimes (Federal Bureau of Prisons) and the cost of long sentences required by mandatory minimums starts to add up. In addition to the economical problems mandatory minimums contribute to, some adversaries suggest that mandatory minimums may not even be effective, particularly in regards to reducing drug related crimes. In many organized drug operations when one drug supplier is caught and incarcerated another swiftly takes his place (Caulkins, Jonathan P). Furthermore, social scientists and public policy analysts researching the effectiveness of mandatory minimums have found there to be little conclusive evidence that mandatory minimums do in fact reduce crime (The United States Sentencing Commission). War is not wrong, but it is wrong if waged for the wrong reasons. Was The Trojan War righteous? The Bible says, Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people (Proverbs 14:34). After all, what is righteousness? It is acting in accord with moral or divine law. Cover lines are typically vague and may use rhetorical questions or quotes to attract attention. This method again encourages people to buy the magazine and read it. Enzymes are also released by the stomach, which are particularly good at breaking down proteins in the food you ate. Food will often stay in the stomach for hours, until it reaches a creamy or liquidy consistency, before being gradually squirted into the next section the small intestine. It can take anywhere from two to six hours for this to happen. Here the food is mixed with bile and other enzymes, which are created by the liver and pancreas, to break down the molecules in the food even further. Once the food has been turned into glucose, those molecules are absorbed by the wall of the small intestine and move into the blood, where they provide energy for the body. There are number of interrelated design variables associated with wireless sensor networking. Fig. 7. Wireless Networking Topologies [10] The three flexible topologies for network construction are star, tree and mesh respectively, illustrated in Figure 7. All three topologies consist WSN gateways, end nodes and routers. There are other topologies, such as ring, line, bus, fully connected and star mesh hybrid networks. Thus, each WSN topology presents its own set of challenges, advantages and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The nodes of bus topology are replaced with standalone star topology networks. This results in both disadvantages of bus topology and advantages of star topology as well. For example, if the connection between two groups of networks is broken down due to cutting of the connection on the central linear core, then those two groups cannot communicate, much like nodes of a bus topology. However, the star topology nodes will effectively communicate with each other. This structure is arranged in a hierarchical form and any intermediate node can have any number of the child nodes. 2. Mesh Topology This special topology is multi hopping systems in which all WSN nodes are identical, namely they are all routers and communicate with each other to hop data to and from the sensor nodes and the gateway. Figure 8. WSN Communication Infrastructure [1] Unlike the star architecture where the nodes can only talk to the gateway, the nodes in a mesh topology can also hop messages among other router nodes. The propagation of sensor data through the mesh allows a sensor network to be extended, in theory to an unlimited range. Besides, a mesh network is also highly fault tolerant since each sensor node has multiple paths back to the gateway and to other nodes. If a node fails, the network will reconfigure itself around the failed node automatically. Depending on the number of nodes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
