Short Answer Questions
**Your answers are to be typed and turned in on the 17th in class.**
1. Explain the difference between associative learning and observational learning.
2. Explain the difference between classical conditioning and operant conditioning.
3. Define the 4 important components of classical conditioning (UCS, CS, UCR, CR). Then, provide an example of a classical conditioning experiment using examples NOT used in class and not from the internet (when half the class has the same examples, I know something is up). Basically, you will be providing an example of an experiment where a UCS & NS are paired until you have a CS-CR response. This does not have to be a proven experiment, you will be making something up. I’m not grading you on whether it would work, merely if you are providing examples that go along with the theory – namely, if you are using reflexive/involuntary responses and neutral stimuli.
4. Define and provide an example for the 4 key components of operant conditioning (PR, NR, PP, NP). The rules are the same as above, not from class and not from the internet.
5. Describe the four processes that must exist in order for observational learning to occur.
6. Explain the 3 additional form of learning we discussed in class – expectancy, latent, and insight – defining and providing an example to support your explanation.
7. Pick one of the categories of areas that can affect learning – biological constraints, culture, or psychological constraints – and discuss how learning is affected within the area you chose.

three comparisons and
either or contrasts to help organize the content of your essay
