13 GOING ON 30
NOTE: This spoiler was sent in by Skipper who says... "This movie was pretty much an average chick-flick...the events might be slightly out of order"
The movie opens with 13-year-old Jenna Rink having her pictures taken. The photographer takes the picture when she's not ready, and as a result her school picture is not exactly cover model material. She's walking down the hall with her best friend, Matt, when a popular girl named Tom-Tom and her clique, the "Six Chicks" approach her. Tom-Tom tells Jenna that she can't come to her birthday party because she and her friends have to work on a project. Jenna volunteers to do the assignment for them and they agree to come to her party. Next we see Jenna and Matt walking home and Jenna talking about how she wants to be a Six Chick. Matt says it's mathematically impossible for there to be seven Six Chicks. We see that they are neighbors and go into the houses next door to each other.
Next we see Jenna before her party, stuffing her bra when her parents enter her room with a video camera. Her mom takes out the padding and they have a conversation. Jenna says she wants to be 30 and flirty, like the magazine article on her bed, but her mom says she should be original. Matt comes over and gives Jenna his gift: a Jenna doll-sized dream house that he worked on for three weeks, and some "wishing dust." He opens the packet of wishing dust and scatters it over the dream house.
Tom-Tom and her friends show up with some popular boys in tow, and Jenna hastily shoves the dream house into the closet. Matt is dancing around when they arrive, and Jenna is obviously embarassed by him. She rudely tells him to do whatever he wants, and he goes to his house to get his electronic piano. Tom-Tom suggests that they play 7 Minutes in Heaven. She blindfolds Jenna, asks where the project proposal is, and sticks Jenna in the closet. She grabs the project proposal and her friends take some food, and they're on their way out when Matt comes back. Tom-Tom tells him that Jenna is in the closet waiting for him. He goes in and Jenna, thinking that he's one of the popular boys, says, "I've been waiting for you, Chris." Matt reveals himself and Jenna gets angry. She kicks him out and stays in the closet, wishing to be 30. Some of the wishdust spills on her.
Jenna wakes up in a 30-year-old's body (Jennifer Garner) and takes a few minutes to freak out about the situation.
She goes through her mail and sees some bills and a letter that says Sparkle on it with her name on it (important later). A guy comes out of the shower and takes off his towel, which thoroughly freaks her out and she grabs a coat and shoes and runs out the door. Downstairs at the curb, a lady named Lucy (Judy Greer) tells her to get in the car. Jenna hesitantly does, and the two are off to work at Poise magazine. At work, their boss (Andy Serkis) tells them that Sparkle magazine has had basically the same stories and covers as them for the past few m ...

1. Highlighted plot synopsis
With a newly found sense of freedom and part time job Georgia has moved away from home for the
first time. The family come together for a final time to celebrate her 18th birthday party with her
friends and family before she leaves. In the small village where her and family live she is a symbol
of new life and regeneration as she makes her own way and career for the first time. She and her
sister are celebrating when she receives a nasty text message from an ex-boyfriend who she left a
year ago. She had been with him but ended it when she realized he was intimidating her younger
sister Steph. The celebrations continue, the text ignored, and the village proceed to bid her
farewell as she moves to another nearby village. She has arranged that she will see her family every
three weeks and keep in regular contact; however this changes for the worse.
The family keep in contact with Georgia and they know her to be well. However in Georgia's mind
things have changed and she fears telling her family because if the large burden she feels she holds
on them. She is back in contact with her ex-boyfriend and is being manipulated daily.
During the year that Georgia is living away she changes drastically and is made to think by her ex
that her parents don’t want her and don’t care about her so she should not go home and should
stay where he can see her and ‘look after her’ because he has been in her head so much she begins
to believe this and becomes even more homesick. As the film goes on the effects of her ex-
boyfriends manipulation are shown to the audience by Georgia doing several things to harm her
family as she has been made into thinking that she should do that and rebel against them.
As the manipulation between Georgia and her 'ex' continues she gets back together with him as this
is part of his plan and scheme to ruin everyone's lives as he has such a strong hatred for her family
as they were the reason they split a year ago. Over a few months, since Georgia no longer lives at
home her now boyfriend has wormed his way into living with her meaning he can push his
manipulation onto her even more without her knowing what is happening. His forceful ways has
meant that he has come up with a plan to sabotage Georgia and all her families’ life, as he wants
revenge on them all for the split a year ago. He convinces Georgia that her family do not care
about her and will never want her back now she has moved out, and so gets her in on the plan,
little does she know she is the reason for this revenge and it is not just her family that he hates.
Together they form a plan to kidnap Steph (Georgia's sister) in order to frighten the rest of the
family and get them 'prepared' for what is going to happen next (according to Mark- the boyfriend).
Georgia and Mark have been planning the kidnap for a good few weeks and then finally decide that
it is time to get on with the plan (Mark being the main force behind starting the plan). They kidnap
Steph by Georgia arranging to meet her after school at a main meeting point in the village, which
was the main bus stop. When Steph arrives there is no one there until she gets a sudden shock from
behind, without seeing her aggressor, she is hit over the head with a metal bar knocking her to the
floor. From a pool of blood they then smuggle Steph into the back of a car and hide her in a
unknown place to the audience as they plan to use her in the future to ruin her families lives.
Georgia and Steph's family soon realize that Steph is missing and before long there were missing
posters all around the village, that Mark would tear down if he saw. The search continued for
months, along with the new part of the plan that Mark had made which was texts to the family
(mom and dad) sent from an unknown number (Georgia and Mark) as if the person sending the texts
is with them as they know the families every moves (which Georgia and Mark know from the
secret camera in the family house). In addition to this, Mark and Georgia are out to trick the
parents by sending them packages of animal hearts, making them think Steph is dead. While Steph
is under their control, they are also manipulating her although the audience doesn't see this.
The final part of the plan is when Mark attempts to set fire to where Georgia works (the bond).
However Georgia catches him in the act and begins to go crazy and screams for attention and
attacks Mark for everything he has done because she realizes it is all wrong and before she can get
Steph from where they have hidden her, Mark moves Steph to another location.
Georgia has reached breaking point once she has left Mark and realizes for herself the true impact
he has had on her, and as she runs away, ignoring the multiple text her bombards her with, she
seeks protection, running back to her family home. Her parents aren't in the house and as they
2. return the see smoke appearing from under the door. At this unusual sight they open the door, not
expecting to see their long lost daughter, and are shocked by the events that follow.
At the end of the film Georgia hits rock bottom and has developed a strong barrier against social
influences, showing the reason why she deflects her parents away from her. Due to this mental
disorder and her weak mental state she turns solitary and is led to arson and criminal offence. She
is taken away to gain medical help after the traumatic experience.
