Hello and welcome rising 9th graders, class of 2020. We are excited to have you join us here at Shiloh high school. In the next few days or week, you will be selecting your courses.
We want to provide you with information that will help you make a more informed decision. Remember that the choices you make today will determine your future here at Shiloh high school
Here at shiloh high school we offer 4 academies, which can be seen here.
We have AME which stands for….
Each academy offers a unique pathway also referred to as a major. Major is a common term most often used in college.
Each column is color coated and lists out the possible pathways or majors that you can choose from.
Each pathway will require 3 to 4 years to complete. So it is important to consider your decision wisely.
In a moment we will discuss and explore each pathway in more depth.
At first glance academies can seem confusing, however academies provide essential fundamentals.
Being an academy school allows you, as a student to focus on a sequential set of classes within a pathway. Staying within a pathway ensures that you will have the time and ability to build and strengthen essential skills.
As you advance each year though your pathway, academies will provide you with more opportunities such as internships, certifications and exposure to real world experiences within your field.
The bottom line is that the academy will allow you to gain an edge in a world of ever-growing competition.
You will be selecting your academy in the next few days. So it is imperative that you are thinking actively about what you want to do. If you are still unsure, please make it a point to have conversations with your parents, teachers and/or counselors to assist you in making a decision.
When you come to the high school during the summer to pick up your finalized schedules, you will know which academy you are in.
Please remember that what you choose can and will directly determine your future at Shiloh high.

Here you can find a list of careers related to each pathway. Examining related careers can help you in making your decision. Keep in mind that there are many related careers that are not limited to this list. If you are still not sure, sometimes thinking about the future and planning backwards can help.
If you already know that you are interested in a few potential colleges, understanding the programs that the colleges offer can also aid in the decision process.
