Program Highlights
FBLA – (Future Business Leaders of America): This club is open to
students in Grades 7-12 who are planning to take business courses. This
organization prepares its members for a future in a business career. FBLA believes
that education and business go hand in hand. They promote the development of
leadership qualities within the membership. Students compete at district, state,and
national levels in events such as Computer Applications, Public Speaking, Job
Interviews, Accounting,Decision Making, and Entrepreneurship. FBLA members
run the schoolstore and participate in other fund raising events to raise money to
attend these competitions.
Microsoft Office Specialist - Certification: This course teaches students
all aspects ofMicrosoft Word, Excel, Access,and PowerPoint and prepares them
for the exam that is offered by Microsoft Corporation. Students who pass the exam
receive a certificate from Microsoft verifying their expert skill level, which will
give them an advantage over otherjob applicants. (College Credit Available)
Business & Education Employability Portfolio (BEEP): Students
enrolled in Career Marketing Plan (CMP-BEEP) will complete a portfolio
outlining their employability credentials. This program is operated in conjunction
with the Niagara Frontier Industry Education Council (NFIEC). Students
completing and meeting all requirements for the portfolio are eligible for a
scholarship through NFIEC.
Career PathwaysCenter – Helping students explore career
opportunities. Students can use the Center to arrange a job shadow
to observe professionals in a career of their interest. We can also
help students develop resumes and prepare for interviews.
