This document describes a study where researchers 3D printed synthetic livers replicating the anatomy of 6 patients (3 living liver donors and their 3 recipients) undergoing living donor liver transplantation. The goal was to establish the precision and accuracy of 3D printed models for preoperative planning. Standardized imaging and measurements of the original livers were compared to the 3D printed models, demonstrating identical anatomical and geometric landmarks. This represents the first reported complete 3D printing of livers, with potential benefits for improving donor safety and surgical outcomes in living donor liver transplantation.
