Facebook was one of the first social media platforms starting in 2004, and it now has 2.89 billion users who can post updates, photos, videos and play games, as well as join groups and buy and sell items.
Facebook allows users to share pictures, videos, and music with friends and enables sharing personal viewpoints. Instagram is mainly used for sharing pictures but also now includes videos that friends can see unless the account is private. Twitter has grown in recent years as a way to share music, videos, and pictures by retweeting and favoriting media, similar to how Facebook shares liked content publicly.
