Shapes are defined areas that can be geometric or organic in form. Examples of 2D shapes include circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles, while 3D shapes are forms such as cubes, spheres, cylinders and pyramids. Shapes can be used creatively in design by cropping photos in interesting ways, symbolizing ideas, formatting text within shapes, creating new formats, and highlighting important information with screened or tinted shapes.
