5. What is an LRC?
• LRC Stands for "Learning Resource Center"
• Title for physical library on campus
• A learning resource center combines the features of an
academic library, a bookstore, a computer lab, and a
community space
• At Hussian, our librarians carry out duties in each of
these areas, which is where "LRC Coordinator" comes
from

Canvas class menus, even after you are finished

• The LRC is also a collection of Live Events and
other resources your team of LRC Coordinators
have put together to help you.
• Your LRC coordinator can always be reached by
email and on campus

7. LRC Library Checkout and Circulation:
OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog)
• Hussian's on-campus library has a collection of hundreds of interesting books,
design tools, media, and equipment to supplement your course work and help
you grow as a person (or just enjoy a good book in your down time!)
• You can search the OPAC HERE to find physical resources from the on-campus library.
• You can learn about how to use the OPAC and read LCC (Library of Congress
Classification) numbers HERE.

10. Using the OPAC:
Subject Browsing
• One way to find resources is
to use the Subject browser
• Every resource in the
collection has "Subject" as
part of its metadata, so you
can find a subject and bring up
all the resources that are
tagged with that subject.

11. Using the OPAC: Search
•You can also search for resources using
keywords like in other search engines you
may be familiar with.
•You can do a general search, or you can set
parameters to search by certain item types
or within specific fields like author and title.
•Your friendly LRC coordinator will help you
find anything in the collection, and help you
understand the circulation policies before
sending you on your way with your spoils.

13. LIRN Library
• Modern librarians are fully aware that a library is
more than books, and they get excited about
providing digital resources that can be accessed
from anywhere
• At Hussian, we use the LIRN Library to give you
access to millions of articles, journals, Ebooks, and
other useful information resources. LIRN, the
Library and Information Resources Network, has
curated databases with all the knowledge you
need to help you reach your goals as a student and
professional.We use Gale Cengage database
collections.
• There will be a link to the LIRN library in the menu
of all your classes in Canvas. Just click that link and
get started!

15. Live Events and Help
• Not to boast, but the Hussian LRC is where the cool people are.
• The LRC is an integral part of the Hussian Community.You can come to the LRC for
all kinds of academic help, both on campus and online using live videochats and
rooms.
• The LRC offers things like:
• School skills workshops
• Information literacy programming
• Time Management help
• Writing and editing help
• Collaborations with Student Services and Career Services for events, games,
and parties
