Session 3:

                            ‘Generic influences and similar texts’
We have looked at two short horror films on YouTube created by students. These
YouTube short films are similar to our chosen idea, Kidnapped:
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0bg0IeSLF8&feature=plcp and Basement:
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtVU7vyoAIg&feature=plcp

Kidnapped is based on a female being kidnapped at night time. They incorporate
generic elements of horror such as sounds of footsteps, screaming and heartbeats.
Basement is based on a girl being kidnapped and about to be tortured. They use
generic elements of horror by engaging the audience using camera
shots/angles/movements, such as a zooming in and out, close ups and extreme close
ups. These elements all add to the genre of horror.
