1. TOPIC: THE AUTHORITY OF THE BELIEVER.
TEXT. MATTHEW 28:18-20.
THEME: FISHERS OF MEN.
INTRODUCTION:
To catch men for Jesus requires more than skill and hard work. Fishing for men
inthe deep seas of sin, wickedness, depravity, suffering and hopelessness
requires spiritual authority. This shall be our focus today.
I. THE SOURCE OF THE BELIEVER'S
Jesus Christ is the Source of the believer's authority.
A. He was an all-round authority. Matthew 7::28-29, John 7:15-16,
Mark 1:27, 1John 4:17.
B. His Word is final authority. Matt. 24:35.
C. His Authority is confirmed: Matt. 28:18, He is Lord - Phil 2:9-
11.
D. ?His Authority is delegated to us. - Matt 26:18-20, Adts 2:23-24,
32-33, 36.
II. THE SPHERE OF THE BELIEVER'S AUTHORITY.
The believer's authority is primarily in the realm of the Spirit but it
has several other ramifications in other realms... physical, material,
financial, and every other realm wherever they may be in all of existence.
A. All things are under His feet. Eph. 1:17-23.
B. Authority over Satan and all his demons - Luke 10: 16-21; Eph 1; 5-6.
C. Authority over all sicknesses and and diseases Matt. 10:1; Mk, 16:17-
20.
D. Spiritual authority over all men through prayer in the name of Jesus
Christ... 1Timothy 2:1-3; James 5: 17-18; IKings 17:1).
III. THE SEAL OF THE BELIEVER'S AUTHORITY.
