Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist in the Jordan River. As Jesus came out of the water, the sky opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in the form of a dove, and a voice from heaven said "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." Baptism now saves believers and is a pledge of a clear conscience toward God through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus commanded his disciples to go and baptize people in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
