4. Hebrews 2:5-8 (NIV)
5It is not to angels that he has subjected
the world to come, about which we are
speaking. 6But there is a place where
someone has testified:
“What is man that you are mindful of him,
the son of man that you care for him?
7 You made him a little lower than the
angels;
you crowned him with glory and honor
8 and put everything under his feet.”
5. He came that:
He could empathize with us.
Be the perfect example of God the father to us
Become the guilt offering to atone for sins
6. Hebrews 10:5-7 (NIV)
5Therefore, when Christ came into the world,
he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not
desire, but a body you prepared for me;
6 with burnt offerings and sin offerings you
were not pleased.
7 Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about
me in the scroll—
I have come to do your will, O God.’ ”
8. Hebrews 2:9-8 (NIV)
9 But we do see Jesus, who was made lower
than the angels for a little while, now crowned
with glory and honor because he suffered
death, so that by the grace of God he might
taste death for everyone
9. When does abundance and comfort
produce testing
10. Testing times makes us more
dependable on God
Jesus felt the ultimate need for his
Father
11. 1. Get annoyed with everyone
2.Become resentful at your
circumstances
3.Determine to WORK it out by
your lonesome
4.Curse the day you were born
5.Blame everyone including God
When tested do you…..
13. Hebrews 2:8-9 (NIV)
8 In putting everything under him, God left
nothing that is not subject to him. Yet at
present we do not see everything subject to
him. 9 But we do see Jesus, who was made
lower than the angels for a little while, now
crowned with glory and honor because he
suffered death, so that by the grace of God he
might taste death for everyone.
14. Revelations 20:11-16
11I saw heaven standing open and there before mew as a white
horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he
judges and makes war. 12His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his
head are many crowns.
He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself.
13He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the
Word of God. 14The armies of heaven were following him, riding
on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15Out
of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the
nations.
“He will rule them with an iron scepter.” a He treads the winepress
of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty.
16On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:
KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
15. Events we now see
WARS
PESTILENCES
Natural Disasters
16. Christ return is imminent
All the prophesied signs are being fulfilled
Are you prepared?
17. Persevere Jude1:20-21
20But you, dear friends, build yourselves
up in your most holy faith and pray in the
Holy Spirit. 21Keep yourselves in God’s
love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord
Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life
Editor's Notes
How was your week [last wk Friday]. Kayla singing ‘its all about the base’.
Paraprosdokians.
Last week Roger reminded us about the importance of paying attention least we drift.
Joel Osteen imitation
For the theme we will be reading Hebrews 2:5-18. Lets read it together
Today I will be emphasizing who/what we should be paying attention to and why. In my message three points will be discussed namely….
Jesus promised people from all nations tongues an languages will be apart of his Kingdom as brothers and sisters united by a common belief in him
And the word be came flesh….John 1:14. Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity…Heb3:14. Give up spiritual life and….
Have u ever wondered if Jesus had come to world in all his splendor? As the son of an aristocrat, high priest, Herod, Ceaser
Had Jesus come from such a background, could he empathize with the travails of common man? He would be unrelatable. 2016 1% population will own 50% of worlds' wealth. Go to web page
Wealth and abundance are often synonymous with arrogance, disdain, contempt, pompous, aloofness…..for the plebeians' we create wealth….rich ruler; rich fool….easier for a camel….
Has anyone herd of bees CCD …Linden…as much as he knows, to truly find out he must become a bee ….only then will he be able to really help
Do you see the analogy! Jesus came to the earth as a man so that he could:
He could empathize with us- every human tendency is familiar to him …sin, sorrow, joy, anguish, pain, love , sadness, hunger, temptation, sickness and death. Touched the lepers; cried, had fun @ wedding; whipped, beaten spat upon, betrayed, nailed to a cross….HE CAN EMPATHIZE!
Be the perfect example of God the father to us – Jesus is not God [our children]……. John 14:9 Phillip Lord show us the father….teach us the attributes of God; kind, compassionate, merciful, forgiving, patient, slow to anger abounding in love …..God is 1 Corinthians13:4-7, Romans 8:38 nothing in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus!
Become the perfect high priest – obtained eternal redemption for us all through his own blood….blood of bulls and goats were not pleased with ….therefore God asked his son, and he said ‘here I am’: Heb 10:5-7
With his last breath he said ‘it is finished’ the appropriation for sin had been met.
My second point
Suffering is a direct result of sin.
Have you heard these accusations: If God is love, why does evil abound; bad things happen to good people; God is a crutch for the poor and simple minded.
Troubling times test our faith in God. Abraham, Job, Daniel & friends, Ruth, Esther, Paul they came through with a stronger faith in God
In each of these situations who was the perpetrator behind the scenes- striving to break the faith of these men and women including yours
In order for us to appreciate God there must be a need for his presence in our lives our ordinary lives
Sick… public hospital, rent, installments, mon-fri 8-4, education…., addictions, crime, poverty,
Almost Never…. do you believe the 1% can relate our suffering? For their material needs, medical attention, education, travel, food etc God is 10%
Rather it makes them contemptuous of God and his requirements and those of us who do rich ruler- if heaven means giving up wealth…, rich fool instead of sharing wealth build bigger barns ….we cannot serve two masters one will prevail where the desire is.
Japan air lines flight; company I worked for.
Thus enjoy your humble status
We too will face challenges thus he is not ashamed to call us brothers and sisters
In fact the bible says anyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be prosecuted
But take heart Jesus cares and understands the 99% of us, because he suffered when tempted he is able to help us when we are tempted
David troubles….man after God’s heart, Peter [roster crowed, segregation], Paul-thorn …three times…my grace is sufficient for you
His grace is sufficient for you and I too, regardless of the sin/s
Just when we think all is lost God Always work something out for his faithful ones. Contrary to popular belief God does bring these against us ….we live in a world of evil and cannot escape its tentacles. God has said take heart we have not suffered to the point of shedding our blood…His son has passed that test for us.
1.Be at peace with all, remember who the real enemy is
2.Challenges are temporary
3.Involve God and spiritual family, seek input and advice
4.Be grateful for life
5.Be optimistic thank God, it could be worse
The first time he came to this world, they crowned him with thorns a purple robe and mocked . When he returns on his head will be many crowns and a fine robe of linen.
As of now he is the high priest in heaven
Every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord! Kings, presidents, Emperor, General, rich, poor
We choose to confess him now
To crush all his eneminies and reign supreme
Take heart Jesus has left to prepare a place for us
What do we now see?
The ruler of this evil world reigns – corruption, sickness, crime, pain & suffering, wars, disease, natural disasters, famines, pestilences, God gets blamed for.
In Acts the disciples were staring …when the angels told them this same Jesus will BRB in the same way he left.
Are you preparing for his return
He will rule with an iron scepter- no more wars, sickness, crime, corruption and death will bring glory and honor to God
The UN, NOW, IMF, Armies, police, Governments, cannot bring the peace and relief that all men desire
Only JESUS can
In the meantime what do we do?
Jesus was made like us, suffered more than us, and will be crowned King of Kings he will reign supreme.
Let us continue to build ourselves up in faith, pray unceasingly and so keep ourselves in God’s love as we wait on our brother and Supreme Lord, Jesus to bring us eternal life
To God be the Glory
