Rule-based expert systems for supporting university studentsertekg

There are more than 15 million college students in the US alone. Academic advising for courses and scholarships is typically performed by human advisors, bringing an immense managerial workload to faculty members, as well as other staff at universities. This paper reports and discusses the development of two educational expert systems at a private international university. The first expert system is a course advising system which recommends courses to undergraduate students. The second system suggests scholarships to undergraduate students based on their eligibility. While there have been reported systems for course advising, the literature does not seem to contain any references to expert systems for scholarship recommendation and eligibility checking. Therefore the scholarship recommender that we developed is first of its kind. Both systems have been implemented and tested using Oracle Policy Automation (OPA) software.

The institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Bangalore Local Network to organize IET’s Technology Leadership Talk on:
Theme: The next big thing “Industrial Internet”
The Internet of Things refers to uniquely identifiable objects and their virtual representations in an Internet-like structure. The term Internet of Things was proposed by Kevin Ashtonin The concept of the Internet of Things first became popular through the Auto-ID Center at MIT and related market analysis publications. Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is often seen as a prerequisite for the Internet of Things.
Equipping all objects in the world with minuscule identifying devices or machine-readable identifiers could be transformative of daily life For instance, business may no longer run out of stock or generate waste products, as involved parties would know which products are required and consumed. One’s ability to interact with objects could be altered remotely based on immediate or present needs, in accordance with existing end-user agreements. The talk will focus on Industrial Internet
The Industrial Internet is a term coined by GE and refers to the integration of complex physical machinery with networked sensors and software. The industrial Internet draws together fields such as machine learning, big data, the Internet of things and machine-to-machine communication to ingest data from machines, analyze it (often in real-time), and use it to adjust operations.

According to U.S. Census Bureau, worldwide average of
infant mortality rate is 90, meaning that 90 infants die per
1000 live births within one-year period after birth. The
leading causes are stated as birth defects, preterm birth,
maternal complications of pregnancy, sudden infant death
syndrome (SIDS) and injuries (e.g. Suffocation).
Considering SIDS and injuries, the rate increases because
of uneducated or/and unobservant parents in such cases,
infant chokes on vomit or due to misplacement infant
suffocate. This study aims to reduce death rates of infants
by monitoring them continuously. We created a wristband
for infants to monitor SpO2 and heart rate, which is cloud
integrated, to share patients’ status with their doctor. By
this way, doctor can lead parents to take required actions
in a controlled manner. Moreover, the device also has the
ability to create audible alarms to warn the parents in
case of a complication.
This course is designed to provide the student an overview of the biomedical innovation and how it relates to healthcare sector. This course introduces medical technology innovations in the context of (A) identifying clinical needs, (B) the process of inventing new medical devices and instruments, and (C) implementation of medical devices in patient care. The student learns the process of identify (needs finding and needs screening), invent (concept generation and concept selection), implement (development strategy& planning and integration) phases of BioDesign.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.
