The Feast of Tabernacles, or Sukkot, commemorates the Israelites' journey from Egypt to the Promised Land. It takes place from the evening of September 18 until the evening of September 25. During this festival, Israelites live in booths, or sukkahs, for seven days to remember living in temporary shelters during their journey. The festival is based on instructions from Leviticus 23:39-43 to celebrate with foliage and live in booths for seven days after harvest.
