ViewShift: Hassle-free Dynamic Policy Enforcement for Every Data LakeWalaa Eldin Moustafa
Dynamic policy enforcement is becoming an increasingly important topic in today’s world where data privacy and compliance is a top priority for companies, individuals, and regulators alike. In these slides, we discuss how LinkedIn implements a powerful dynamic policy enforcement engine, called ViewShift, and integrates it within its data lake. We show the query engine architecture and how catalog implementations can automatically route table resolutions to compliance-enforcing SQL views. Such views have a set of very interesting properties: (1) They are auto-generated from declarative data annotations. (2) They respect user-level consent and preferences (3) They are context-aware, encoding a different set of transformations for different use cases (4) They are portable; while the SQL logic is only implemented in one SQL dialect, it is accessible in all engines.

1. Keyword Research & Analysis for SneakerBarDetroit.com
The keywords/phrase I think will drive the most traffic: “air max 97”
The page I’ll be optimizing: https://sneakerbardetroit.com/tag/nike-air-max-97/
Most Valuable Keywords for SneakerBarDetroit.com and KicksOnFire.com
Top 5 Keyphrases
Total Keyphrase List
3. Keyword Analysis: The keyword “air max 97” had a slow start in 2015, which is where
the five-year chart begins. The chart shoes a jump in popularity towards the end of 2016 and into
2017. I tried to look up some Nike Air Mx 97 to see what happened in 2016 to where it would go
up compared to the previous year, however, I came up empty handed. Nike Air Max 97 has been
around for quite some time now and only continue to become more popular in the sneakerhead
culture. I choose the keyword “air max 97” as my top keyword because of the data that was
collected through spyfu.com. Spyfu was a great resource to use to help understand what each of
the numbers meant as well as providing the needed data in an easy manner.
The site the keyword is found on is SneakerBarDetroit.com and the keyword currently
ranks at 16. This is good for us because SBD wants to be ranked as close to the top 10 as
possible. Being ranked 16 leaves room to improve and per the data and ranking change it looks
as though it may hit the top 10 at some point. The ranking change is in a positive manner and is
currently at seven which means that it has recently moved 7 spaces in the ranks. The current
trend for this keyword is going upwards. Over the past couple of years, it has had an up and
4. down trend per Google trends. It is currently on its way back up and has recently hit one of its
highest peaks. When looking at the data and following the trend we can see that it will most
likely hit the peak, stay higher for a while then decline again. When looking at all of the data
collected and determining what the best keyword is to optimize, we must first look at the search
volume. Search volume is the number of searches in a month. With taking that into consideration
we are looking for a high search volume. The search volume for “air max 97” is 140,000. This
means that the page gets 140,000 clicks to the page per month. As we optimize the keyword, we
would hope that that number would increase.
The lower the ranking difficulty the better. Anything past 90 is considered very difficult
to optimize. This keyword has a difficulty rank of 80, which obviously isn’t the best as it could
be better however with a combination of everything else it seems as though the optimization is
still very doable. Current SEO clicks is at 1,600. SEO clicks determines how many clicks that we
are getting for any specific keyword. The challenge with this is that we don’t know if they are
unique visitors or not. For this we cannot look too much into that fact as we are just trying to
compile overall numbers. The best thing for this page is that this is a tag page meaning that it
will most likely be updated every day due to the content on the page. A tag page means that
anything that the keyword is tagged into will appear on this one page and that is the page that I
have decided to optimize.
5. Keyword Analysis: The second keyword I chose as part of my top three is “Nike air
max.” This is very similar to my first keyword however this keyword is on our competitors’ site.
I would choose to optimize a page on our own site to bring attention away from our competitors
and bring the attention to our own site. The numbers were too good to pass up, so although it was
a keyword for the competitor it allows us to use that data and make it better for ourselves. The
site that is ranking for this particular keyword is KicksOnFire.com which is not good for
SneakerBarDetroit.com as they are the competitor.
The current trends are in an upward manner. There are many up and downs through the
peak points but with the line and trend as a whole it is on the way up and is a continuous upward
trend. The current rank of the keyword is 26. This was my second chosen keyword because of
this reason. Chosen keyword 1 and chosen keyword 2 were very similar overall in terms of the
keyword title, however because of the data and numbers this was ultimately chosen as the second
one. A rank of 26 is not bad, but because we are trying to get in the top 10 it is a little more
difficult to get there with the ranks not moving a whole lot. The rank change for this keyword is
6. 8 which means that it is in fact moving but there is still some room to move before it will be
considered in the top 10. With SBD having a very similar keyword approaching the top 10 I
begin to wonder if that may be the reason for the lower ranking of this keyword. The first thing
that should be looked at is the search volume and this keyword has a search volume of 262,000.
One may be curious as to why this is second on my key phrases list and that is because it is on
the competitor’s site. When optimizing this key phrase, I would in turn search SBD for a page to
optimize in place and that is the page that I used for my first key phrase/word. It felt weird for
me to use the rankings of this site when we could work on one that was pretty much the same
thing with better numbers besides the search volume.
The ranking difficulty is currently at 77 which is good because the lower the better. The
higher the number the more difficult it is to move on the rankings. The current SEO clicks is at
1,800 which is the number of clicks that this specific keyword gets. This is slightly higher than
the first keyword but not by much. I decided to align this with a page that is on
SneakerBarDetroit.com because we are not trying to help the competitor out. We are trying to
get more traffic to our own site.
7. Keyword Analysis: The third keyword that I chose was “jordan 12.” I went back and
forth on my third keyword for a long time only to land on this one. I originally did not want to
choose this keyword because of the rank and the rank change. The rank itself is not in a bad
position as it is currently sitting at number 19 however the rank change is -3. This means that the
rank in not moving in the direction that we want it to. I begin to wonder why this is the case
when the Google trend shows an upward movement in the recent data. For the overall Google
trend it declined from 2015 to 2017 and now has remained at a consistent trend with a few spikes
here and there. At the current moment this key word is on one of the spikes upward.
The search volume for said keyword is currently at 103,000 which is significantly lower
than the last keyword I analyzed. This is horrible but there still is a lot of room to improve and
place to optimize in order to drive more traffic. Other options for keyword selection into the top
three were ultimately rejected because of having a downward trend. This ranking difficulty also
sits at 77 which out of all 3 key phrases chosen is tied for the best chosen. A lower ranking
difficulty may have been better however the rest of the numbers did not quite fit the mold. The
8. current SEO clicks are not looking too good in comparison to other keywords chosen. “Jordan
12” currently sits with 950 SEO clicks. This means that this keyword specifically is only getting
950 clicks. The good thing about this is that the content aligns with a tag page meaning that it
will ultimately drive more traffic to the page as there is many links on one page.
Ultimate Keyphrase Choice: “air max 97”
The page I’ll be optimizing: https://sneakerbardetroit.com/tag/nike-air-max-97/
This is the best key phrase because the close second key phrase would have been optimized to
the same page. The Google trend showcases that “air Max 97” is on an upward trend and will be
there for a while before coming back down. This trend all depends on what is released and
tagged to the air max 97 page. As it is continuously updated it will continue to drive traffic to the
page. It was important to optimize a tag page for that reason exactly. I wanted a page that would
continue to drive people there for years to come. It is important to have a page that is kept up to
date rather than one that will be old in 2 months. Air Max 97 is continuing to release sneakers
which will keep this page alive.
HTML: Implementation of Chosen Keyword
1. Title Tags
Current Tags:
SneakerBarDetroit.com Title Tag for [Nike Air Max 97 Colorways, Release Dates,
Pricing | SBD]: <title> Nike Air Max 97 Colorways, Release Dates,
Pricing | SBD </title>
KicksonFire.com Title Tag for [Nike Air Max 97 • KicksOnFire.com]: <title> Nike
Air Max 97 • KicksOnFire.com </title>
Recommended New Title Tag for SneakerBarDetroit.com:
9. <title> Air Max 97, What is the top Nike Air Max sneaker? |
SBD </title>
Explanation:
Title tags are important because they tell people and search engines how relevant a page
is to a searcher. For this reason, the title tag should be as accurate and relevant to the
page’s content as possible. The SneakerBarDetroit title tag is an in-depth title that is
interesting enough that I would want to click on it to find out more. There are three
different ideas that are in the title that offer a range of topics for the site. They offer
colorways, release dates and pricing. Opposing that we have KicksOnFire and they have
a very basic and simple title tag with a basic title [Nike Air Max 97] and their website
KicksOnFire.com after. It is as though they do not care as much to have this page
optimized and clicked on. The KOF page is a tag page just like SBD however there is a
clear difference in the time put into the title tag of the two. My recommendation of title
tag starts with the selected keyword [Air Max 97] to stick with the original keyword and
optimize that specific keyword. The title then moves into a question that adds Nike to the
Air Max as that is also a top keyword, but also describes the Air Max sneaker collection.
A question is one of the seven title tag hacks for increased ratings and traffic. I was
originally going to try and put a number in there however with the keyword I have it
made it kind of complicated to do so without just repeating the keyword. I ended the title
tag with SBD to represent SneakerBarDetroit.com. I think this phrase will increase CTR
because of the question in the title. Viewers want to know the answer to questions asked
on the internet, so they will be more likely to click on the page to find that answer. This
page is a tag page meaning it will be updated most likely daily which will allow for it to
be up to date and continuously have someone on top of it with the page.
10. 2. Image ALT Text
SneakerBarDetroit.com Image Tag Details:

001-Release-Date-1-324x235.jpg”
Alt text = "Nike Air Max 97 Black Reflective DM8347-001
Release Date"
Recommendation to improve SneakerbarDetroit.com image name and ALT Text:
Image name recommendation = “TopAirMax97Sneakers.jpg”
Alt text = “What are the Top Air Max 97 Sneakers and their
Release Dates”
Explanation:
ALT tags are important because they describe the image or states what the image is
trying to convey to the person viewing the page. ALT attributes are especially important
to those that are blind. They need things such as jaws and Google to understand what is
11. on the page in order for the blind person to access the page. The page must be accessible
to everyone. It is an alternative option to the visuals that most people see. ALT tags are
usually woven into HTML tags to help with the visuals. We are optimizing the original
keywords which is what I have tried to keep consistent throughout all of the changes
through this research on keywords. My recommendation is posed as a question once
again in the ALT tag. I decided to continue from the title tag and use roughly the same
for the ALT tag. I wanted it to be accessible to everyone that may view the page. The
question helps draw tragic in because viewers are seeking an answer to their question.
