2. Sensory system
A sensory system is a part of the nervous system
responsible for processing sensory information.
• A sensory system consists of sensory receptors,
neural pathways, and parts of the brain involved
in sensory perception
3.
4. • In order to perform the interaction function, Living
beings receive information from the environment
and from our body through the five senses i.e.
Smell Taste Sight Hearing Touch.
• Olfatory nerves are in the nasal cavity next to the
pituitary area The sense of smell needs the sense of
taste in order to work properly.
• Taste receptors are on the tongue. They are small
bumps called taste buds. Taste buds helps us taste
the different flavors. Bitter Sour Salty Sweet.
5. • Pupil Retina Lens Optic nerve The eyes are the sense organs
that give us the sense of sight. Light enters the eyes
through the pupil, the lens and the retina. The retina sends
stimuli to the brain through the optic nerve.
• The ears are the organs for the sense of hearing. First, the
outer ear collects the sound. Next, the sound passes
through the inner ear canal, the middle ear and the three
small bones. Then , the sounds reach the cochlea and the
auditory nerve. Finally, the auditory nerve sends signals to
the brain.
