Senior Expedition 2015-2016
Senior Expedition Products
● Learning Target: I can describe what an
expedition product looks like.
● Learning Target: I can identify what makes
a good expedition product.
● Learning Target: I can choose an expedition
product that will best showcase my work for
the Senior Expedition.
Identifying a Need
● Who needs to know about your topic?
o Think about the social relevance
● How can you inspire action or change
around your topic?
Every Product Must Have...
● an authentic audience
● a clear and meaningful purpose
● proof of its impact
● 8 hours of documented work to create
product
Product Options
Seminar
● You will plan and lead a seminar for a group
that needs to hear your message.
● Your seminar should run at least 30 minutes
long.
● You will include a learning target, a do-now,
and an exit slip so that you can provide
evidence of your students’ learning.
Local Campaign
● You will find and participate in a local
campaign related to your topic.
● You will attend at least two events or
meetings, and you’ll get involved with the
campaign in a way that will help them.
● You will create a photo essay to document
your experience.
Online Campaign
● You will create a website with resources
about your topic for a specific audience.
● You will promote your project using social
media.
● You will collect data to prove that your
website is effectively reaching your target
audience.
Letter-Writing Campaign
● You will identify influential people,
organizations, or media outlets related to
your topic.
● You will research each target audience
● You will write three persuasive letters to
encourage them to change their beliefs,
policies, or actions.
Physical Product
• Physical product must show a direct
connection with your topic
• Should be a reflection of your research and
be a part of the impact that you hope to
cause
• Should be able to be used by the audience
that you identified or are targeting in your
work
Volunteer Hours
• These hours must have a direct impact on
the topic that you are researching
• This is volunteering with a purpose, not just
showing up to lend a helping hand
• Volunteering at a place to provide help
because you have identified a real need
through your research is the goal
Next Steps
● decide which product option is best suited to
YOUR topic and YOUR strengths
● get specific about your audience, product,
and impact
● get feedback from peers and teachers
