The document is a pitch deck for Send My Kid, a platform that helps parents and guardians fundraise for education expenses from pre-K through college using their personal social networks. The document is a presentation on math puzzles and brain teasers by Kathleen Cotter Lawler. It covers topics such as patterns, squares, guided discovery, fractals, Asian cultures' relationship with math, math balancing, puzzle numbers, magic squares, and understanding place value. The presentation provides visual examples and explanations for each topic to illustrate different math concepts and puzzles in an engaging way.
The document summarizes a presentation on developing a deeper understanding of primary math concepts through less rote counting and memorization. It discusses current counting models that rely heavily on memorization and proposes alternative approaches focusing on visualization and conceptual understanding. These include using subitizing to recognize small quantities, teaching number names in a way that reflects place value, and place value cards to build understanding of our base-ten number system. The presenters argue this will lead to longer retention and a stronger math foundation compared to traditional counting models.
This document proposes a social enterprise that aims to provide affordable extracurricular activity (ECA) courses to underprivileged children in Hong Kong. It outlines the business model, target customers, competitors, and financial plan. The social enterprise seeks to address inequality of opportunity by giving poor children access to ECAs, which can help them develop interests, gain confidence, and contribute to society. The business model involves recruiting talented tutors to teach low-cost ECA courses and partnering with educational institutions for venues. Financial projections estimate an initial net loss that would be covered by government subsidies, with the goal of becoming profitable within three years of operation through increased participation and course offerings.
The document proposes a peer-to-peer microscholarship project called P to P Micro Scholarship. It aims to encourage students in Bangladesh by connecting them directly to donors through the internet to receive scholarships and encouragement. Students would create profiles describing their dreams and situations, and donors could provide small scholarships and messages of support. The project aims to become the largest scholarship foundation by gathering small donations from many individuals online.
The document discusses the problem of excessive materialism among parents and children and lack of understanding of the value of money among kids. It proposes a solution called Sow, which would enable young people to accept monetary gifts and inspire them to put the money toward saving, sharing, and spending to support their goals and interests. Sow would allow friends and family to easily support the endeavors of young people. The summary provides high-level information about the problem, proposed solution, and market opportunity in 3 sentences or less as requested.

The document discusses the Clark County School District budget. It provides details on where the budget money comes from and how it is spent. The majority (88%) of the budget goes to salaries and benefits for employees, most of whom work in schools. It also compares CCSD expenditures per student to other districts. While education functions like a business in some ways, the primary goal is student learning. The biggest challenges are lack of adequate funding and balancing the needs of students, parents, and taxpayers.
CodersTrust is raising a $20 million student fund to provide microfinance loans to 25,000 IT freelancers in Bangladesh to upgrade their skills and earn higher incomes through online work. The program has already provided loans to 450 students through a platform that imports student work histories and links to online learning and payment platforms. Loans are repaid through automatic deductions from student earnings, with 90% going to the student and 10% to loan repayment. The goal is to scale the program by raising capital from investors who will receive returns from loan repayments while expanding opportunities for online workers.
This document proposes a peer-to-peer microscholarship project called P to P Micro Scholarship. The project aims to connect students in need of scholarships directly with donors through an online platform. Students would upload their profiles, dreams, and goals. Donors could then encourage students by contributing money and messages of support. The project aims to provide encouragement and opportunity to hidden talents in developing countries who otherwise cannot afford to go to school. It proposes a business model where a 20% margin is taken from funds raised and later partnerships and advertising could make the site profitable. An initial pilot with 30 students in Bangladesh is outlined to test the concept in 2010.

At Send My Kid, we are changing the way you plan and pay for education – by combining social fundraising, rewards spending with gamification. I like to think of it as “Personal crowdfunding for education, from crib-through-college”.
There isn’t one website out there that focuses on the management of tuition funds from “crib-through-college”. Education is so important to us, it’s amazing there is a huge void here. There are separate crowdfunding platforms and 529 account programs, but none that focus entirely on education from “crib-through-college”. Upromise comes close, but it isn’t enough as it doesn’t have fundraising built in. None of them offer aggressive fundraising tools.Givezooks, IndieGoGo, Kiva.org – all have nice user interfaces, which SMK needs to be successful for user registration and retention. SMK user interface isn’t bad, but it needs to be perfect.Scholarshare only focuses on 529 accounts for California. Fidelity Ufund only focuses on 529 accounts for Massachusetts. The only service that focuses on educational funding for individuals is Upromise.SMK uses PayPal – so the individual has freedom of choosing where to put the money. The only other type of service that does this well are the crowdfunding platforms – but they don’t focus on education.Rewards – Upromise provides rewards kickbacks for education. eScrip provides rewards kickbacks for schools and groups, but not individuals. There isn’t a site out there that integrates with schools. There isn’t a site out there that integrates with several different investment firms. (more than one). There isn’t a site out there that integrates with idle Grant money. There isn’t a site out there that integrates with available student loans.
What we have here are the “spends” to get to the next “value inflection points”.
