occurs in human life. 
 Brings with a host of challenges in the life. 
 The problems of the elder person to be 
addressed to urgently and with utmost care. 
 Same rights. 
 Effect of degeneration of joint family system, 
dislocation of family bonds. 
 Vulnerability. 
 rights violations. 
 Need awareness about the different rights of 
elder person.
 Degradation of moral values. 
 Degeneration of family system. 
 Lack of proper implementation of laws. 
 Lack of social responsibility. 
 Denial of priority. 
 Lack of awareness.
 Denied access to service. 
 Lack of respect-due to disability. 
 Violence 
 Verbal abuse. 
 Sexual abuse. 
 Psychological abuse. 
 Financial abuse. 
 Discrimination.
 Denial of social security measures. 
 Poverty. 
 Denial of health and social care. 
 Unemployment. 
 Violation at work place. 
 Mandatory retirement age.

Muslim law: 
 Under both hanafi and shafi schools. 
 Obligation to maintain their parents and grant 
parents. 
Christian and parsi : 
 No laws for maintenance. 
 CrPC provisions applicable. 
Under CrPC: 
 Prior to 1973: no provisions. 
 After under sec 125 CrPC-Applicable to all 
religion. 
Govt policies: 
 National policy for older person 1999.
 Need amendment to constitution. 
 Need special legislations. 
 Strict implementation of existing laws. 
 Enhance punishment for violation of rights of 
older persons. 
 Govt should give more importance to make 
policies and programmes for senior citizen. 
 Conduct awareness programs about the rights 
of older person. 
 Conduct seminars and workshops.
