Self film analysis
- 1. Social Self: who can make meaning in ways not very different from what the film making hope to relay to the audience. Cultural Self: References to other material Private Self: From past experiences the person my view a film different from others. Desiring Self: Who the audience wish to be in the movie. The film in which i choosen is 2013 Snowpiercer directed by Bong Joon-ho. My social self understand the messages of classes and the mass difference between both in which the movie is trying to relay. I understand that the lower class are treated like slaves and the upper class live in luxury and bliss. This alones me to the enjoy the film without being conversed and apparate the interesting messages created from the film. My cultural self would have the understanding that this movie was a French, series of graphic novels created by Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette in 1982, before it was turned into feature length movie. This gives me a large understanding to what the plot of the movie is going to be about and recognize characters before they're introduced. As the film stars Captain American actor Chris Evans many people reject the final reveal of the characters back story as it's doesn’t fall in line with the hero stats that people wanted from this character. My private self goes against the opinions of others, enjoying the choice of revealing this about the character. As in my opinion it makes them much more believable and grounded in reality. Truthly i don’t want to be any of these characters within this dystopia film due to how life is presented. But my desiring self would have to be the first class group of characters in the movie. As the horrid conditions of the lower classes compared to the luxuries lives of the higher class my desiring self makes me choose the selfish option after watching this film.
