The James W. Stuckert Career Center at the University of Kentucky serves students, alumni, and employers. It provides career exploration tools and connects students with internship and job opportunities to help them find employment or get into graduate programs. The Career Center addresses common career myths and outlines the benefits of its advising services. It encourages students to explore careers and majors, engage in experiential opportunities, and connect with potential employers. A variety of programs and events are offered to assist with career preparation.

- Who we serve: Undergrads, recent alum, employers What we do: Help students make decisions about their major and career gain the skills and experience they need to be successful in the job market Make connections with employers and job opportunities
- These two offices share a common goal… to help you succeed. Undergraduate Studies is the Advising Center for undeclared majors. If you are undeclared or decide to change majors working with your academic advisor be helpful as you decide what career path to take. Career interest inventories and other on-line services can guide you to a better understanding of careers and begin to help focus on classes that fit your degree plan.
- These are common things students might think about career services Point out two of the most pertinent ones at this stage is that it’s only for seniors and certain majors
- What it might cost students NOT to use our services and the potential benefits of USING them
- This addresses the myth that a degree guarantees you a job. Skills and experience are just as important. Many of the skills employer want, such as teamwork and communication, are not taught in the classroom but gained by experience
- Our tagline is Explore…Engage...Connect… Help student learn about the world of work, make decisions about their major and career options Does your student have a major yet? If not we can help They may have a major but don’t really have enough experience to know if they will like it or what their career options are?

- Help students gain experience and skills to be successful in the job market. Some students may want to do more than one of these things and start early in their sophomore year. So start exploring opportunities during the freshman year
- Tools and resources we offer to help students prepare for the job search process
- We offer events and resources to connect student to employers and teach them how to network in their career field
- Students can register with us on Wildcat CareerLink, upload their resume and search 100’s of job and internship postings specific to UK students!! We host 130+ employers each semester at our Employer Showcase – for students to find out about internship and job opportunities Our LinkedIn group has 1000+ member and connects students with alum and employers
- A fun way to get acquainted with our office. FREE fun food games and prizes on the first day of class
- Our staff is a fun and positive group that loves helping students be successful!
