1. To love one another is a commandment – it is not optional!!!
2. Loving one another is of great importance to God and should be to us.
3. To love one another may take some work on our part.
4. If I am truly concerned about my eternal destiny, I will honor my Lord’s request.
5. We are motivated to love one another because of the great love that has been and is bestowed on us.

Three passages help us understand that there is more to being a part of a specific group of Christians than just sitting in the pew once in a while. Paul reminds us that we are joining together, like a marriage. He teaches us to receive one another since Christ has received us. And he makes it clear that keeping company with someone named a brother involves serious responsibilities.
I want to focus on a few ideas 1) we needed each other, 2) we must learn to respect each other, and 3) we must learn to identify with each another; in other words, we need to learn to identify the value of others. SEE, PEOPLE ARE VALUABLE, BEAUTIFUL, AND NECESSARY.
The image of the body of Christ emphasizes unity in Christ while being interdependent on one another. Christian faith is not to be defined merely in terms of individual relationship to the Lord, but how the fellowship between believers magnifies the image of God. As the body of Christ, the church is the extension of Jesus’ ministry. All the various members have been given gifts, not for personal satisfaction, but for the building up of the body as a whole (14:4–5, 12). While there is diversity of gifts, there is not to be division within the body.
Each piece of the body has its own function, and each function is impacted by other parts. The heart pumps blood to areas in the body that it will never touch any other way. The hand will touch things that the foot will never feel, while the eye sees things that, without hands, it will never fully appreciate. Together the body functions and relates to each part and benefits from the function of each part. We enjoy life to the fullest because all our parts work together to allow us to partake in the world around us.
The body of Christ must be one, in harmony, united, and on one accord to maximize the impact we have on people, families, the church, our community, and ultimately the world. When the body is functioning at its best, the body is healthier, stronger, and more able to handle things that come its way.

Making disciples who make disciples is at the heart of the call to follow Christ. Here are some notes on the gap between our intentions and practice (adapted from Greg Ogden's book, Transforming Discipleship).
Making converts, gaining decisions, does not equal making disciples. It is essential we look at the right ideas, in the right way to make real disciples of King Jesus.
It is common to refer to the process of maturing as a disciple as spiritual formation. Here, based upon work by Greg Ogden, I give a four stage process for growing into maturity, and fruitfulness, as a follower of King Jesus.
Jesus expected a process of change, growth and development in the life of his followers. Many writers suggest a three or four stage process. A four stage process is outlined here, along with personal challenge / application.
Disciple-Making, according to Greg Ogden requires at least tow major factors: Internalisation and Multiplication. This presentation adds to his ideas with some scripture and illustrative ideas challenging followers of Christ to become, and make, disciples in his image.
Name someone...who has impacted your life.
Disiple-making is a deliberate act requiring discipline and dedication
“Discipleship is all about living the life together rather than just one structured meeting each week” Chan

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

9. In this way we are like the various parts of a human
body. Each part gets its meaning from the body as a
whole, not the other way around. The body we're talking
about is Christ's body of chosen people. Each of us finds
our meaning and function as a part of his body. But as a
chopped-off finger or cut-off toe we wouldn't amount to
much, would we?

10. If an organ is severed from the

they must be attached to a

believers of Christ and that is
by membership in a local
church.

22. Your Local Fellowship
Almost every time the word church is used in
the Bible it refers to a local, visible congregation.
The New Testament assumes membership in a
local congregation.
The only time believers are not part of a local
fellowship is when they are being disciplined.
Only in regular contact with ordinary, imperfect
believers can we learn real fellowship and
experience the New Testament truth of being
connected and dependant on each other.
Saturday 2 October 2010
23. Why You Need a Church Family
Why should I be part of a local
church?
Why can’t I be a believer in my
own home?
Is it ok to join an online
community and have that as my
church?
Saturday 2 October 2010
24. A church identifies you as a genuine
believer
John 13:34-35
34 So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love
each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each
other. 35 Your love for one another will prove to the world
that you are my disciples.”
You are not the Body of Christ on your own -
you are when you come together with people
(often who are varied) - togetherness shows we
are a body.

25. A church family moves you out of
self centred isolation
Church is the laboratory
for learning how to be
God’s family in practice -
trying out unselfish love.
Only in regular contact with ordinary, imperfect
believers can we learn real fellowship and
experience the New Testament truth of being
connected and dependent on each other.

28. A church family helps you develop
spiritual muscle
Participation in the full life of a local church is
how you develop spiritual muscle.
Eph 4:16
Over fifty times in the New Testament the
phrase “one another” or “each other” is
used.
Saturday 2 October 2010
29. We are commanded to love each other, pray,
encourage, admonish each other, greet each
other, serve each other, teach each other, accept
each other, honor each other, hear each other’s
burdens, forgive each other, submit to each
other, be devoted to each other, and many other
mutual tasks.
This is biblical membership, and these
are your family responsibilities.
Being holy means being holy around other
people - untested holiness often leads us into
deceiving ourselves.
Saturday 2 October 2010
30. The Body of Christ needs you
God has a unique role for you to play in His
family. This is called your “ministry” and God
has gifted you for this assignment.
1Cor. 12:7 says, “A spiritual gift is given to each of us
as a means of helping the entire church.”
A Local fellowship helps you to identify and use
these gifts - anything else is in addition to
this role.
Saturday 2 October 2010
31. You will share in Christ’s Mission in
the World
The Church is God’s
instrument on earth. As
members of Christ body,
we are His hands, His
feet, His eyes, and His
heart. He works through
us in the world and we
each have a contribution
to make.
Saturday 2 October 2010
32. Paul tells us in Eph. 2:10,
“He creates each of us by Christ
Jesus to join Him in the work He
does, the good work He has gotten
ready for us to do, work we had
better be doing.”

36. It’s all in the Church
God’s purposes for the church are identical to
his purposes for you, church helps meet your
five deepest needs:
Worship helps you focus on God
Fellowship helps you face life’s problems
Discipleship helps fortify your faith
Ministry helps you find your talents
Evangelism helps fulfill your mission

37. Your Choice
When you are born again you become part of
God’s wider family - then you have to choose to
become a member of a local expression of
God’s family.
Do you attend, or are you committed to a
local church?
Attend - spectate, consume, take the benefits
Committed - involved, contributing, responsible
