1) The document discusses the history and theology of prayer in different dispensations, from individual prayer in ancient times to Jesus' teaching on prayer.
2) It argues that prayer in the name of Jesus takes on the highest form, as it recognizes the person and work of Christ. Unbelievers' prayers cannot be accepted by God as prayer requires union with Christ.
3) The scope of prayer is defined as whatever is asked in accordance with God's will, as believers remain in Christ and his words remain in them. Regular, reverent prayer should be practiced with the Holy Spirit.

God has accepted people based on faith long before Jesus' resurrection. Abraham was considered the "Father of Faith" because he believed God's promises without seeing their fulfillment, which was counted to him as righteousness. Some key heavenly things we can have faith in include Jesus being God, his death and resurrection to forgive sins, and the promise of eternal life through faith in him.
This document provides a summary of lessons 25-31 from Murray's work "With Christ in the School of Prayer." It discusses the progression of understanding of prayer from Jesus' teachings in the Sermon on the Mount to the High Priestly Prayer. It explains how the coming of the Holy Spirit established a new spiritual order where Christ works through believers and their prayers. It also examines Christ's continual role as intercessor for believers and how believers now share in this role of intercession through the Holy Spirit.
"He has given us of His Spirit" Part 2Dave Stewart
In this lesson we’ll learn a little bit more about the Holy Spirit. We’ll discuss the person of the Holy Spirit, and His role in miracles, conversion and understanding the Word. This lesson was influenced by the writings of Wayne Jackson (https://www.christiancourier.com/articles/29-false-ideas-about-the-holy-spirit) and Jim McGuiggan (http://www.jimmcguiggan.com/reflections3.asp?status=The+Holy+Spirit&id=361).
The document provides an in-depth analysis of true worship based on Philippians 3:3. True worshipers are characterized by their love for God, finding joy in Him rather than circumstances, and trusting in Him, which produces peace.
This document discusses reasons why some prayers may go unanswered. It provides 11 common reasons prayers are not answered: 1) Lack of fellowship with God and his word; 2) Not seeking to please the Lord; 3) Unconfessed sin in one's life; 4) Improper motives; 5) Not asking in God's will; 6) Don't know how to pray; 7) Lack of faith; 8) Misunderstanding of faith; 9) Wavering faith; 10) Failure to apply spiritual authority; 11) Lack of perseverance. The document encourages readers to study how to pray effectively according to the Bible and to remain faithful in prayer.

This is an example of the enriched inductive Bible study method. The traditional 3 step inductive Bible study method is basically O.I.A. -- observation, interpretation, and application. The 6 step enrich version includes praying and empathizing. The acronym is U.O.I.E.A.Y. which stands for urging, observing, interpreting, empathizing, application, and yearning. Urging means urging God to make His words effective in our life starting from our studying His words seriously. Yearning means based on all the first 5 steps turn each verse into a prayer. May God fulfills upon you the words that you earnestly seek to experience. Amen.

Murray on Prayer.Session 12.Lessons 19-23John Wible
1) Jesus initially taught disciples to pray for themselves as novices, but later taught prayer focused on their mission as his friends and co-workers.
2) Through prayer, the disciples would do greater works than Jesus by working with him to advance God's kingdom.
3) The early church grew rapidly through appropriating the power of prayer, planting churches across three continents and teaching thousands despite starting with just a few followers.
Jesus taught his disciples how to pray using what is known as the Lord's Prayer. He instructed them to pray privately to God as their Father in heaven, focusing on hallowing God's name, desiring God's kingdom and will to be done, asking for daily provision and forgiveness as we forgive others, and requesting deliverance from temptation and evil. Jesus emphasized humble, sincere prayer over repetitive, empty words.
1) The document discusses the gospel or good news of God's salvation for mankind through Jesus Christ. It explains that through sin, mankind was captive and enslaved, but God rescued us by sending his son Jesus to die on the cross.
2) It further explains what was accomplished through Jesus' death - forgiveness of sins, healing, righteousness, eternal life, and more. It emphasizes that salvation is a free gift from God that one must accept through faith in Jesus.
3) The document encourages accepting God's gift of salvation through confessing faith in Jesus and provides resources for spiritual growth.

This document summarizes a church bulletin that provides information about upcoming events at First Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi, including a Sunday school luncheon, a patriotic concert and block party, and encourages bringing glory to God through good works. It also includes a summary of Ephesians 2:1-10 about what believers were, what God did, and what believers now are through faith in Christ.
The document discusses the divine origin, absolute truth, and sovereign accomplishing power of God's word. It argues that the Bible is inspired directly by God and contains his unfailing truth, as demonstrated through its divine consistency over many authors over centuries. God's word will achieve his purposes as he speaks things into existence and directs history according to his commands and truth contained in scripture.
The document discusses Jesus' teachings about the Sabbath in response to Pharisees accusing his disciples of breaking Sabbath laws. Jesus argues that mercy is more important than religious sacrifices or rules. He states that the Sabbath was made for man's benefit, not the other way around, and that he, as the Son of Man, is lord over the Sabbath. When the Pharisees conspire to kill Jesus for healing on the Sabbath, it demonstrates their focus on legalism over compassion.

In recent times many have laid claim to the title of being a prophet. This claim requires a look into scripture to reveal whether this is true or not. This presentation seeks to look at several tests that should be applied to claimants of the gift of prophecy and the tests as applied to an individual who actually passed all of them.
Jesus calls four fishermen, Simon, Andrew, James, and John, to follow him and become "fishers of men". They immediately leave their nets and jobs to follow Jesus. True discipleship requires fully committing one's life to Jesus, giving up everything else. The document explores what it means to follow Jesus as Lord rather than being a casual fan. It emphasizes the importance of surrendering fully to God's call and allowing the Holy Spirit to work in one's heart and life.
1) Paul encouraged believers in Philippi to hold forth and share the word of life (the gospel message), so that in the day of Christ (the judgment of believers' works) he would have reason to rejoice for not having preached in vain.
2) Paul saw himself as being poured out as a drink offering for the service and faith of believers in Philippi. Though imprisoned, he rejoiced and encouraged others to rejoice in sacrificing for the Lord, knowing greatest joy comes through greatest sacrifice.
3) True joy for believers comes from seeking God's will through sacrifice, not from favorable circumstances. Missionaries maintain joy through demanding conditions because they offer their lives as continual sacrifice
The document provides an in-depth analysis of the Lord's Prayer, examining each line and petition. It discusses how the prayer was taught by Jesus to his disciples and summarizes the key Christian teachings. The Lord's Prayer is presented as the fundamental prayer of Christianity that expresses humility, trust in God, and asks for divine help and deliverance from evil. Several Church fathers and saints are cited for their insights into the meaning and significance of the prayer.
The quickest way into God's Presence, the surest way to access His power and the most dependable way to be safe in the arms of the Lord. God delights to inhabit our praises and when he inhabits us all of heaven's blessings are more readily accessible and readily seen. As we draw near to Him in thanksgiving and praise, God draws near to us.
The document contains announcements for various church events taking place in the coming weeks, including young professionals lunches, fellowship dinners, medical training seminars, and service projects. The main portion discusses a sermon on the righteousness of Christ that comes through faith alone, not works. It describes how Christ's righteousness is credited or imputed to believers, while their sins are imputed to Him, justifying and sanctifying Christians.
The document discusses the essence and marks of the Christian church. It defines the church as a community of believers called by God through faith in Jesus Christ to be his people. The church is also described as having four key characteristics or marks - worship, the preaching of God's word, baptism and communion, and orderly government.
The gospel is the good news of God's salvation for mankind through Jesus Christ. Due to Adam and Eve's disobedience, God's children were taken captive by sin. As a loving father, God sought to rescue his children by sending his son Jesus to die on the cross. Through his death and resurrection, Jesus paid the punishment for sin so that all may be forgiven and have eternal life by accepting God's free gift of salvation. The document provides biblical support for these concepts and encourages readers to accept this gift of salvation in Jesus.

It is common to refer to the process of maturing as a disciple as spiritual formation. Here, based upon work by Greg Ogden, I give a four stage process for growing into maturity, and fruitfulness, as a follower of King Jesus.
Jesus expected a process of change, growth and development in the life of his followers. Many writers suggest a three or four stage process. A four stage process is outlined here, along with personal challenge / application.
Disciple-Making, according to Greg Ogden requires at least tow major factors: Internalisation and Multiplication. This presentation adds to his ideas with some scripture and illustrative ideas challenging followers of Christ to become, and make, disciples in his image.

It then discusses the importance of discipleship, noting that disciples are meant to be world-changers and that one-on-one discipleship is the most effective method, replicating itself over time. The document concludes by outlining models of discipleship, including sharing the gospel, connecting with others, helping them minister, and ultimately making them disciples who can repeat the process.
The document summarizes the biblical story of Babel in Genesis 11, where all humanity spoke one language but decided to build a tower to make themselves famous. God responded by confusing their languages, scattering them across the earth and enforcing his command to spread out. It also discusses the origins of different ethnicities and races. The next section introduces Abraham, called at age 75 to leave Haran and given promises by God of land, descendants and blessing through his offspring. The covenant with Abraham sets the agenda for the rest of the Bible by being fulfilled through Christ.
The document outlines key events in the biblical story of humanity's origins and early history:
1. God creates the universe and places the first man and woman in the Garden of Eden.
2. Adam and Eve rebel against God and are banished from the Garden, introducing sin and brokenness into the world.
3. As sin and death spread, God brings a flood to wipe out most of humanity while saving Noah, his family, and two of every kind of animal on an ark.
This document provides an overview of the upcoming "The Old Testament Story" learning and development series starting on September 2nd. It outlines the 4 main movements of the Old Testament story from Eden to Israel, Israel in the promised land, Israel to exile and return. Key details include the main people, events, and sections covered within the 11 most important books that make up 95% of the Old Testament narrative.

Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.
Introduction
Mantra Yoga is an exact science. "Mananat trayate iti mantrah- by the Manana (constant thinking or recollection) of which one is protected or is released from the round of births and deaths, is Mantra." That is called Mantra by the meditation (Manana) on which the Jiva or the individual soul attains freedom from sin, enjoyment in heaven and final liberation, and by the aid of which it attains in full the fourfold fruit (Chaturvarga), i.e., Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. A Mantra is so called because it is achieved by the mental process.

Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.
Lição 12: João 15 a 17 – O Espírito Santo e a Oração Sacerdotal | 2° Trimestr...OmarBarrezueta1
The pervasiveness of Lying in today's World.pptxniwres
In our interconnected world, lies weave through the fabric of society like hidden threads. We encounter them in politics, media, personal relationships, and even within ourselves. The prevalence of deception raises profound questions about truth, trust, and the human condition.
The Book of Revelation, filled with symbolic and apocalyptic imagery, presents one of its most striking visions in Revelation 9:3-12—the locust army. Understanding the significance of this locust army provides insight into the broader themes of divine judgment, protection, and the ultimate triumph of God’s will as depicted in Revelation.

Rom 12:1-2, Heb 13:15-16, suggest 4 sacrifices a Christian
should make.
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s
mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and
pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do
not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed
by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test
and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and
perfect will.
Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a
sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his
name. And do not forget to do good and to share with
others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
Offer your body, praise, good works,

Worship in this age is not about
circumstance or form:
“God is spirit, and those who
worship him must worship in spirit
and truth." Jn 4:24
It is not about a spectacular place
but about a heart of adoration
expressing prayer and intercession
through Christ.
Chafer states, “Prayer and praise
are the principle elements of
worship and are acts of direct
communion of men with God”
In OT and NT there is a progressive
revelation about this subject.

A. Prayer before the first advent of Christ
Individuals have always offered
prayer to God - though in a
household it would appear the
patriarch offered the main prayer,
Job 1:5
Between Moses and Christ it was
done by the priest on behalf of the
people - pleading in prayer would
be on the basis of covenants and of
the character of God - and followed
the shedding of sacrificial blood.
1Ki 8:22-26, Neh 9:32, Dan 9:4,
Gen 18:25, Ex 32:11-14, Heb 9:7

B. Prayer in expectation of the kingdom
Jesus taught his early disciples to
pray for the kingdom on earth.
Matt 6:9-13 - including, “Your
kingdom come...”
Chafer states this is about the
millennial kingdom to be established
here on earth - and suggests the
ending of Matt 6:13 further
substantiates this thinking, “ for yours
is the kingdom and the power and the
glory forever. Amen.”
Monday 29 August 2011
6. 6
Chafer also suggests that Matt 6
is not the real Lord’s prayer but
John 17 is - where the Lord
interceded for the church
recognising God’s purpose in this
age.
He says Matt 6 has some useful
items suitable for all ages and
circumstances - adoration of the
Father, asking for daily bread,
deliverance from temptation. He
also says it is not wrong to pray
this prayer - but we have to
realise the millennial kingdom will
not come about by human effort.

C. The prayer of Christ
John 17 reveals the utmost freedom
between Father and Son. Here
Jesus prays as High Priest for
believers in his age and after
Pentecost.
On earth Christ spent long times in
prayer: Matt 14:23, Lk 6:12
The prayer of Christ does not rest
on covenants but on his own person
and priestly work of sacrifice.
Jn 17 reveals the intercessory work
of Christ which continues through
this dispensation.

D. Prayer under the relationship of grace
Prayer is different through all
dispensations. With NT revelation of
prayer in the name of Christ and in
the light of his sacrifice on the cross
it takes on a new dimension.
Christ teaches on prayer in 3 major
places: Jn 14:12-14, 15:7, 16:23-24
Prayer under grace is lifted free of
earthly limitations into the eternal
sphere of being a new creation.

1. Prayer includes not only praise but
your own needs and interceding on
behalf of others.
The rational mind says prayer is
meaningless - God is omniscient and
therefore is ahead of you in what you
pray for.
God has sovereignly chosen prayer as a
way of accomplishing his will and has
commanded us to do it. Jn 14:13-14,
And I will do whatever you ask in my
name, so that the Father may be
glorified in the Son. You may ask me for
anything in my name, and I will do it.

Prayer is elevated here - Gods action is
conditioned by the believers prayer!
Whilst we might not understand how it
works we know God has ordained some

2. Prayer in the name of Jesus is
the highest possible form of
prayer - and supersedes all
previous grounds of prayer, Jn
16:24
Using the name of Jesus
commands the attention of the
Father, and inclines Him to do what
is asked - the name of Christ = the
person of Christ, and recognises
that we are part of Christ in the
new creation. Prayer in Christ’s
name is like him signing our
request.

of the believers vital union with Christ,

E. The prayer of thanksgiving
“True thanksgiving is the voluntary
expression of heartfelt gratitude for
benefit received.”
Its effectiveness depends on the sincerity
and intensity depends on what value is
given to the received benefit - 2 Cor 9:11
This is not a payment for the benefit - but
a recognition in receiving, that we are
indebted to the giver - all thanksgiving is
closely related to praise and worship.
In this age we make sacrificial offerings of
thanksgiving to God.
