The function of the environmental sign age, is to bring the RCL brand from the inside reflections
to the exterior environment.
The words; Read, Learn, Think, Discover, Grow and Interact are cognitive functions of the mind.
These ability of learning, uses pattern definition to identify the solutions or understanding.
Simply using a square to make up pattern of shapes and forms stretch the challenging
extensions, make dynamic forms to reflect the Art Deco-Mission style of the Redwood City
Library.

Brand Design For Redwood Shores Library
SIGNATURE NAME
The name distinction is proposed to give the Redwood Shores Library, city identification from the
Redwood City Public Library.
TYPOGRAPHY
Redwood Shores. Universe Bold “Redwood” is contrast with the slim typeface, Universe Light “Shores”.
This helps in the legibility as it gives the eye a relief when reading as a whole.
Library. The typeface, Myraid is selected to give a friendly yet strong presence to the library.
The letter “I” in library, represents the individual seeking knowledge. Color of the type: “Library” will be
indigenous to the design system.
The brand mark of the Redwood Shores Library and will be use in all applications.

Discover. Read.Think. Interact.
Exterior Signage
The concept of designing the environmental signs is to prepare a mental attiude before entering the
library. The design brings a sense of brand iD and a lively awareness to the library that was not known
before.
EXTERIOR SIGNAGE | CURRENT
EXTERIOR SIGNAGE
New addition of the square signs
are added later to complete the final
phase of the brand iD.
This concept is interesting as when
you approach the library, the sign
is in a collage format and as you
walked out, your mind is clear with
the information you want.
CAFE PARTNERSHIP SIGN
We wanted to make sure that the
library patrons know that there
is a cafe inside the library. So we
created a co-partnership with the
Sea Link Cafe and also to help
create a public awareness for them.
Interior Wall Graphics
Walking through the hallway, without
the photo-paintings can be quite insipid.
To bring the brand iD into the library will
make a strong brand statement and give
the patrons a sense of purpose when they
read the wall of inspiring quotes as they
sip their coffee.

Interior Mural
When you enter from the back of
the library, a blank wall does not
say much to the imagination. An
underwater seaworld painting is
created for the kids to identify the
sea creatures.
